Just a follow up- I contacted Apple on Thursday 12/9 via iMessage help. They said they’d ask UPS to update the tracking. Seemed odd. Not sure if that’s what happened, but my tracking info was active on Friday 12/10 with a few scans taking place in China. The Apple rep told me I’d get it by the original date if 12/14. Seems unlikely. UPS states a 12/15 arrival now.

I am in no hurry and in no way frustrated. Just hoping this story helps someone else waiting for tracking info.

Final update here in case folks are doing some research in the future. My MacBook Pro arrived today. Interestingly enough, I believe on Wednesday of this week, the UPS tracking assumed it would be delivered on Monday 12/20. Showed up earlier than they thought. It came into the USA from Anchorage, AK. Love the system thus far! Crazy fast. If you are waiting on your order still, I hope you get it soon.

I picked up another Early 2015 MacBook Pro 13-inch i7 3.1GHz/16GB/1 TB laptop for $400 this afternoon. Laptop has only 6 load cycles on it's original battery, was rarely used and is in pristine condition. The only down sides in getting this laptop is no original box and no AC adapter but I have a few extra adapters I can use at home....

What's the drive though? That an aftermarket drive, right? Even if it's not OEM, it's still an excellent deal. Congrats! :)

The main concern I would have with an aftermarket drive is battery life.

I haven't opened up my new laptop to check yet. Did a System Information check and it's a PCIe-based SSD drive set up with x4 link width. I did a quick benchmark on the storage drive and speeds are reflective of a standard Apple drive (actually the installed drive read/write speeds are faster than the standard Apple drive read/write speeds but not as fast as the Samsung 970 series NVMe drives).

I will go with this for the time being but will eventually replace this storage drive for a Samsung 970 PRO 1TB NVMe M.2 storage drive.

EDIT: I opened up the back case cover and discovered I do have an aftermarket drive installed on this laptop. No brand so not familiar with this drive but it is working decent on my Pro so I will keep it there for now. Here are a few pictures showing the drive that is currently installed inside my Mac...

Just ordered a base 14-inch Pro! It's available at my local Apple Store for pickup tomorrow. Trading in my M1 MacBook Air. This Air has served me well but I'm ready to have a little more power. Super pumped!

That's a drive with what looks like a Phison E12 controller, if I'm reading that pic correctly. I'm no expert, but some in the MacBook Pro NVMe thread say that if you're going aftermarket, drives with the E12 controller are amongst the preferred options for these Macs because of their decent performance and OK power utilization.

Note though that table isn't completely accurate, since it's results from a 2013 MacBook Pro. I know that the Apple UBX drive (which is the original OEM drive for the 2015) in that table uses considerably lower power when in a 2015 model.

Starting to see some discounts on new MBPs. Even in a major high street computer retailer.

14" now available GBP 1749 (rather than list GBP 1899, or GBP 1799 at the retailer) for the base model if you search round - which is why one should be arriving sometime today. Waiting for delivery time notification.

Just adding - now I have looked further. The discount I got was for either colour, but they only had Space Gray in stock. Whereas the retail chain discount is Silver only. Didn't want to raise hopes only to see them dashed due to colour choice.

It's always nice to put on a vinyl skin to protect the finish of your Mac laptop... this way you don't have any fine scratches that come up unexpectedly... My new to me Early 2015 13-inch MacBook Pro i7 laptop freshly skinned next to my Early 2013 15-inch DG MacBook Pro with the same style vinyl skin...

For those of you getting brand new laptops this is something you all should consider doing :)

I got my vinyl skins from Capes

...just got my Apple refurb MBP 13 M1 with 1TB and 16GB in Space Gray delivered on Christmas Eve!
I was going to get a silver but decided last minute on the Space Gray and glad that I did.
...best computer I've ever owned. Battery is incredible and I love the Touch Bar. I maxed out my 2012 MBP specs but it just won't run Monterey so that's one of the reasons I upgraded. For me the 13 portability is the perfect size and weight....This is a keeper...:)

Out of interest and if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

I stopped at the Apple Store a few days ago and bought the 16" M1 Pro 1TB stock model. I used my education discount and the discount basically paid for the sales tax. I've been saving up for a few months and was tempted a few times to custom order one with 2TB + 32GB RAM or just 2TB, but in the end I didn't want to wait or spend the extra money. So far the one I bought is absolutely perfect. This is my very first MacBook Pro. Before this, I mainly used my 2019 27" iMac for heavier workloads and the 2017 MacBook for traveling and work around the house.

Do you mind if I ask—how much did Apple give you as a trade-in value? Thinking about trading my air as well but want 16” though.

Go to apple.com; at the bottom of the page, under Apple Store, there’s a link for Apple Trade In. From there you can enter your information and get an estimate. You won’t know the actual amount until they receive your device and inspect it.

Happy for you… did you check the warranty beginning date with serial number? Which date is chosen for this? Shipping date or delivery date?

My new MBP arrived. 16", M1 Max, 64gb Ram, 2TB drive. It took almost 2 months since ordering, but it's finally here. Typing on this new MBP is a delight!

My 16 M1 arrived 2 days ago and when i remove the paper on display and looking closer for a defect, i saw a little spot dirt ilke tooth paste. Cleaned it with cloth and it disappeared.

Has anyone experienced same kind of issue during unboxing?
