I ordered a 14" MBP M1 pro 1TB on march 19th with in-store pick up April 14th. Just got an email today pushing the date to May! Ok, fine, I get the whole world situation here, but the email from Apple looks like a scam! I went into my account to make sure (says 2 to 3 weeks instead of 14 April pick-up), so it's legit but that email is kinda minimalist, even for Apple!

My dates were pushed back as well from April 7-14 to May 3-10. So disappointing! I got a push notification from Apple Store app though, not email, and it shows the new date in the app as well.

Mine got delayed for a month as well. It might have something to do with the COVID lockdown in China. But man I do need the machine for work and I have waited for over a month already. Apple support told me the delay only starts to occur this week. How much I wish I ordered the laptop 1 week earlier in late February, just like my friend did, and his had arrived right on time.

Just ordered a MBP 16" M1 refurb. direct from Apple (UK) – unlike the full retail model I received (returned) this didn't have any cosmetic marks on the top-case and I didn't have to wait 10 days for delivery.

CoconutBattery reads:
Manufacture date: Not readable
Current Charge 8441 mAh
96.4%

Design Capacity 8694 mAh
99.7%

Manufacture date 2021-10-18
Cycle count 7
macOS Battery status Good
Battery temperature 22 C

Battery info
Manufacturer not readable
Manufacture date 2021-10-18
Age 175 days

Mac info
Model MacBookPro18,1
Manufacture date not readable
Age not readable

I'm assuming 7 cycle counts is perfectly acceptable for a refurb. but please correct if I'm wrong.

Is there anything unusual that stands out on the battery info.? I thought it was odd that the Manufacture date of the machine is not readable as I can view this on my MacBook Pro Late 2013.

I ordered the 14in MBP on March 30th and it was scheduled for delivery April 14-22nd. Got the notification it had been pushed back to end of May into June so I cancelled it and ordered one from Amazon UK and it will be here next Wednesday with Prime Delivery. Got a 15% price reduction too. I've ordered a few things now from the Amazon Apple Store and it's always been good. Also ordered a pair of AirPods Max which had a nice discount.

Only think outstanding is the ASD which I ordered on 28th March (standard tilt) and is scheduled via the Apple Store 21-28 April. But I have doubts on this delivery being on time as well. There is clearly an inventory issue with Apple at the moment.

I ordered the space gray 16" M1 Max 32 core GPU 64GB RAM 4TB SSD on March 21st, currently still in "Processing" stage of order, my current delivery window to Spain is 26th of April - 4th May. Still has not changed, but I am really fearing it will be further delayed soon like everyone else's.

I found a local official Apple reseller had a new one in stock with the exact same configuration, except 2TB instead of 4TB SSD. I decided to pull the trigger and place the order, with local pick-up on Tuesday and payment in store. I still have not cancelled my first order, will do on Tuesday as soon as I have the other one in my hands and confirm it is in perfect conditions.

I'll be using the MBP for music production and mixing, and I initially wanted 4TB to not have to worry at all about storage for a long time, but I guess I prefer to have my new computer now and maybe have to use a few external SSDs, than wait until end of May, June, or who knows when.

Do you think I am making the right move?

UPDATE: I found a silver 16" MBP with the exact same specs that I ordered initially, but the store where it is available is 6 hours away by car... I don't think the extra 2TB storage is worth the gas and trip, but I would like to know, what would you do?

It sounds like the right move imho. It’s pretty much guaranteed that when April 26 hits, you’ll get a notification from Apple saying the delivery date has been pushed back. Having less SSD should not be an issue for you as it’s the one thing that can be sorted with external drives unlike other things like RAM. You can always add in SSDs to your hearts content.

Thank you for your reply. Now a new option has come up. I found a new 16" MBP with the exact same specs that I ordered initially, but the store where it is available is 6 hours away by car... This really comes down to how important that extra 2TB of storage is for you. Are you going to constantly be worrying about getting too close to capacity without it? I don’t know that I would drive 12 hours total for it (that’s an entire day spent for a laptop) but if you want to be sure to have enough storage, not regret your decision long-term, and get the device as soon as possible, it might be worth it for you. What does your gut tell you?

That's always the best guide.

If you have any hesitation, I ordered the LaCie SSD from Apple. It seems to very good whereas the Apple Store don't sell the Samsung T7s and reading reviews, a number of Mac users have issue with them. If you're studio-based, would it not be better to have a range of SSDs to hold your music and act as a backup as well rather than putting them all on your Mac?

I thought I was going to avoid the delays as Apple billed my credit card 4 days ago, which they say they do when it's preparing to ship, but my 16 M1 Max order has just been delayed from this week to first 2 weeks of June. Ordered March 13th. Bummerrrrrrr.

Went to the apple online store yesterday to buy 2 16" macs, one for me and one for the wife. Available to pick up in 8 weeks!! Went to the john lewis website straight after, purchased and ready for collection tomorrow. John lewis sells them £175 cheaper than from apple too!

They did that with me, debited my credit card but it was listed as pending for days and the money was returned a few days later when it was clear my shipment was delayed.

I cancelled my MBP and went to a retailer to buy a base Mac Studio. Not ideal but I couldn't deal with my problem riddled iMac for another 6-8 weeks.

I ordered my 16" M1 Max at the start of April. Estimate was early May. It shipped this week to my surprise. Then when I got the computer it repeatedly failed to update from 12.2.1 to 12.3.1 when attempting to migrate my data. Then it was permanently stuck in recovery mode limbo after reinstalling the OS. A quick trip the local Apple Store where they tried to reload the firmware and then wisely suggested I return it rather than muck about with logic board swaps on a computer I had for less than 24 hours. I'm just glad it failed before I transferred any software licenses. Now I'm in the in the queue for mid June though wondering if I should be waiting for an M2 Max and kinks to be ironed out.

Damn that is so frustrating!
I remember reading somewhere, probably speculation, that migrating your old Intel based machine to the M1 machines can cause issues so I just did a fresh install on my Mac Studio and redownloaded everything from scratch. Luckily all my work is on external drives. No issues here, thank god.

Ordered a 16" with 64gb ram and 4TB SSD on the 24th of March. Delivery date still saying between 28th of April - 6th of May but expecting that to be delayed!

OMG the delivery is delayed again – the new estimate is June 14-28 :( I ordered it in March.
This is crazy: my laptop broke, and I don’t have a replacement. The only available MacBook Pros at the moment are 13-inch with TouchBar.

Just ordered! 16" MBP with M1 Pro (not Max), 16 GB, 1TB SSD. I've never had a laptop larger than 13" but I've *always* felt cramped and compromised when working via laptop. Very excited to have more room.

Had an appallingly difficult time choosing between silver and space gray, ultimately went with silver. That's the only part of my decision I'm worried about regretting!
