I got my mint condition 14" MBP (base model) from Swappa and it maybe took a week from order to delivery. Didn't have to deal with any of the long delays everyone who buys brand new is talking about. Oh, and I got 2.5 years of a 3 year Applecare+ warranty with the computer too, all for just $1950 (and that price includes tax).

Buy used if you can. It's loads better for the environment, and usually provides substantial cost savings. The only good argument I've heard for brand new is Applecare. Well, this will be the first Mac I've had with Applecare+ and I've never needed it before. 4 different Macs, never had issues requiring repairs (beyond needing to replace the battery on my 2011 MBP, which I did myself).

Ordered a 14" MBP M1 Max, 32 GB Ram, 10 Core CPU, 24 Core GPU, 2 TB on April 29

Delivery was listed at June 30 - July 15

Delivery actually June 24!

I've been setting everything up from scratch, so it's taking a bit longer to get up and running, but man, this computer is a beast! Although, coming from a 2017 iMac that had a hard drive failing, anything probably would seem better! :)

It depends, if you are not maxing out your RAM, then swap is not being used so much and the impact of just one SSD chip rather than two smaller chips in the M1 MBP is less. To be honest if I was buying the machine, I would either upgrade the SSD to 512GB ( which uses two 256GB chips and removes the problem) or try and pick up a cheap M1 MBP, or wait to see what Apple does with the M2 MBA SSD configuration.

Or get the refub base model. I don't see M2 MBP/MBA are much better than M1 counterpact.

I purchased yesterday the MacBook Pro M2 8/256. Coming from Air 2015 and Mac Mini M1 the machine is very good.

You can watch the Max Tech videos for SSD tests. At times the M2 base became unresponsive. I don't see memory usage going down over time, so the performance will only get worse.

You can get the M1 version at a good discount, Best Buy, if you want the TouchBar. Or upgrade the specs if you want the M2.

I bought it yesterday. I currently run XCODE with emulator , PHPStorm, Navicat, Spark, email, safari 10 tabs open with YouTube , outlook, Apple email all at the same time and the system runs perfect. I don't know what the videos say but the system runs perfectly with all these apps open... I don't know if it was a good or bad decision but now I have no problems..

That means?...
I'm not sure, the shipping date hasn't changed yet.

I thought it might mean they are starting shipping process but who knows, it might not mean anything just that they've taken the money in preparation (they didn't take it when I ordered)

Hope so! I'm in the same situation!

Been looking for a 14" Base model M1 Pro MacBook for a while now for a decent price and stumbled upon an absolute STEAL!

Managed to snag a mint condition, 2 month old 14" MacBook Pro M1 Pro with the upgraded 10 Core CPU, 16 Core GPU and 1TB Storage for only £1,100!!
These are £2,399 on the Apple site currently.

Couldn't believe it!

And sold my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro for £900.

Woah, that's a still. See, if you can get Apple Care+ on it..it will be pretty good towards safeguarding it!
