14“ and 16” are likely to be updated Oct / Nov with M2 variants. Probably little else will change.
Nope, that is definitely not going to happen. Following the logical timeline the updated for M2 may come early next year but no way before that. It is just impractical.14“ and 16” are likely to be updated Oct / Nov with M2 variants. Probably little else will change.
I believe you won't regret it.I pulled the trigger and got a new base model 14" MBP on one of the recent sales. I'm replacing a 15" cMBP from 2012, the last of the upgradable ones(16G RAM and 2TB storage). I have PCs for other stuff, but this cMBP has been sitting on a stand and hooked up to external monitors. Been using this computer for almost a decade.
My main project is to take all eight of my various iPhoto/Photos libraries, find the superset of photos and consolidate them into a "final form" Photos library. Then step two is to find all duplicate photos as well. So a two step home programming project AND a new MBP? My lucky day!
Yeah, time to make an update. But as you can tell from my post, I held out hope with the self-upgradable MBP for as long as I could - 10 years.I believe you won't regret it.
What's up with -> "Tim Cook's doesn't really want me as a customer any more "
I see you still buying Apple hehe
The new ones are self-upgradable. You can upgrade them at time of purchase...yourself. 🤣Yeah, time to make an update. But as you can tell from my post, I held out hope with the self-upgradable MBP for as long as I could - 10 years.

haha good one. I wish they allowed picking non apple components then haha won't end up paying $400 for 16GB extra memory. The thing costed me over $4500 in my country with student discount and not even top of the line model. The new ones are self-upgradable. You can upgrade them at time of purchase...yourself. 🤣
Hi, I have kind of a strange issue here…
For my whole life i used Windows Pcs and laptops. And when last year the reviews for the new Apple silicon where spectacular, I decided that my next laptop will be a macbook (since I have an iPhone). And that happend. Yesterday, i bought the M1 13” Macbook Pro. Firstly, i decided to buy an Air, because I dont wanted to buy the most expensive option, but since in my country the difference between the Air and the Pro now is 50 bucks, i went with the pro model. And i don’t know why, but I kinda regret it. (I still use windows on my desktop) The performance really is great, but the fact that less than 1/10 of the games on Steam are playable on that machine (yes, i didn’t realise it beforehand, dont judge me), im very used to commands on windows like alt+ tab, alt+f4, shift+alt, and the last but very, very annoying thing - the Apple way do things - and more exactly the fact that when you start an app, it is not “zoomed” (as Apple says) but minimized in the center of the screen and they decided to put a full screen button (talking about the green button on the upper left) instead of “zoom to screen” button. Very annoying…
I know i am kinda exaggerating the things a lil bit and my reply is long but can someone tell me if they had the same issue and also how they overgrew it because i dont want to end up selling it…
Thanks🙂
