question

hey everybody,
question/problem here...:confused::confused::confused:

i just got the macbook pro 13" unibody + applecare protection .. and after inspecting it i realized there is this dent on the back of the macbook and right of my top screen doesnt exactly align with the bottom. the left side is okay. its a minor issue that doesnt affect software but it is bugging the crap out of me. one side is noticeably off compared to the other. i figured i paid 2k+ for this, the top and bottom should match up?

I am 12 days into my 14 day return policy but just noticed this. i havent dropped my macbook.

would i be able to bring this back to the apple store and get a no hassle exchange? or are they going to shove me a refurbished??

what do you guys think?

I've been considering the same refurbed MacBook Pro, but I'm a bit leery of the fact that it might be as much as 10-months old. Could you do me a favor and go to the following site and enter your serial number and and see when it was originally built:

http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

If you check your serial number, could you post back to this thread with how old it is? Thanks.

The web page doesn't work for me  not sure why.

Hey Guys,
New here. New to Apple in fact. Just ordered my first Mac!!! Sitting in Alaska at the moment, being impatient just like everyone else...

MBP 17"
3.06
8GB
Anti Glare
7200RPM HDD
30" Cinema HD Display

umm..why would you get 8 gigs of ram in your mbp. you do realize it can't even use more than 3.3 right? unless you magically have a 64-bit macbook. fail, mister 'systems architect'. even still, you paid over $1000 for 8 gigs of ram? lololol.

Which wireless HP printer did you get? How do you like it? How's the ink usage? Thanks.
I ordered the HP OFFICEJET 6500 WIRELESS, but it's not due to be delivered until October. I knew it was out of stock, but I didn't realize it was going to be that delayed. I could have switched, but I have had no issues with the last three HP OfficeJet printers I've had, so...

In fact, I would keep my current (OJ 4550), but it's not wireless, and needs to be hooked up to the Time Capsule for me to print wirelessly. The Time Capsule is in my living room, and I want the printer to stay in my study. That, plus the rebate offer, is the only reason I'm getting a new one.

I received my refurbished MBP 15.4" 2.4GHz two days ago, and it's now the love of my life  I'm so impressed that it's refurbished, it looks brand new and everything was packaged so nicely. It is my first Mac so I'm still getting used to it, but it's been a breeze so far. It took less than 48 hours to get here, too! So impressed.

Now all I'm curious about is Freeware, and what's the best stuff to download, if any. Feeling lost without Photoshop too.

Does anyone use OpenOffice.org? I was going to purchase Microsoft Office '08, but then someone told me about open office
Welcome to Macs and MR. :)

I'll let you search for the countless threads comparing MS Office/Open Office/Neo Office/iWork. ;)

If you have the Windows version of Photoshop, contact Adobe and tell them you've switched to a Mac and would like to transfer your license over. It's very easy.

I hadn't looked at that one (goes and looks), oh that's quite a bit of an all-in-one, way more than we'd ever need. October does seem to be like a long time to be out of stock, maybe that's not accurate, I've got my fingers crossed for you that it's not. We like the wireless idea (as well as the rebate) too, and are currently looking at the HP Photosmart C4780 or the Canon Pixma MP620.

UK order of a 17" MBP CTO here. 3.06 & 7200rpm 500GB Drive.

Ordered on the 12th, ETA of delivery has said 25th. Nearly 4PM in the UK and it still states "In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly."

Usually in the past, you get your tracking details for the carrier, then it arrives next day, so my delivery of the 25th will be a bust I'm guessing :(

Phoned apple to get any more details and got the most apathetic call handler I've ever talked to, who just told me they use the same system, which has no details, and states 25th-26th as delivery, where the website clearly states 25th.

Grrr

i also ordered an HP printer in late july and it said it INITIALLY that it wouldn't be delivered until late August.

it got adjusted later in the week and i ended up receiving it about a week after i placed the order - i'm guessing / hoping the same will happen for you!

Also expecting delivery of a CTO 17" on the 25th...
It works like that? And I was expecting mine to actually arrive on the date it's supposed to...:(

It does also say "shipment on schedule" so I'm stying hopeful..!

Lucky b***er - I'm expecting one on 27th, and it's been "Preparing handover to final carrier" since Friday. Not sure what they're doing with it...

My MBP was in China early yesterday morning is already in Oakland, CA which is a little over 400 miles away.

My tracking estimates my delivery to be Wednesday the 26th but if it arrived in Oakland about 4 hours ago (before midnight) can I expect a possible delivery tomorrow (Tue)?

Just ordered a 13" MBP 2.53Ghz, and it'll be here Thursday. I already have the 15" uMBP (Late 08) for work that I'm free to use for whatever, but I'm getting tired of lugging it around, disconnecting everything everyday, etc.

Plus I ordered a 320GB 7.2k drive with a FW800 kit to throw the stock 250GB in for TM.

In a year or so I'll upgrade the RAM to 8GB, and throw a Crucial or Corsair SSD in.

We just got a Lenovo X301 in for an exec, and while it only has a 1.6Ghz ULV C2D, it has a 128GB SSD and the machine positively flies with XP Pro on it. Simply amazing how fast Windows boots and apps load.

I can't wait to have that effect on my Mac. A C2D 2.53 w/ 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD would be sick! Expensive, but sick.

My CTO MBP arrived early this morning; order was placed on the 21st. Didn't have a chance to unbox it as I had to go to work.

Getting a bit cross now  Got a garbled voicemail from apple that kept cutting out that basically said "Hi, this is liz <CUT OUT> From App<CUTOUT> About Your mac<CUTOUT> Pro Order. Can you call on 0800<Garble>triple 9. Extention 55838."

Of course, they withhold the number when they call, and a number even similar to that isn't avaliable on the apple site.

Can't make out the number, or the persons name  So I call :apple: support, of course that name and extention don't exist apparently, and they have no details on my order. I nicely get told "ah, they were probably calling you to tell you it's delayed, but we've got no details. We'll find out what's happening and email you tomorrow".

Meanwhile, my tracking still says the shipment is on track to be delivered yesterday :D

For an order of just under £3000, I can't say I've been particularly impressed with the service or tracking so far.... If I don't get an update today, I'm sorely tempted to just tell them to stick it. :(
