Just called again, told them about the magical extention and partial phone number I was given. They had no answer to that, and just said the ticket with logistics was still open to find out where the hell my order is...

Support said they've had five more calls this morning about the same issues, so I guess apples got a lost/damaged shipment from China I'd wager...

They've promised I'll hear something today, and I've told them if not, I'm going to cancel my whole order, as it's obviously got a major problem, and they can't tell me anything about it, or put me in touch with the mystical "Liz" who apparently did...

Super annoyed, all my other orders with apple have gone through without a hitch, but to be waiting since the 12th, and to get messed around like this...I'm quickly loosing patience.

If they were adept enough to actually TELL ME what the problem was, and the eta on the delivery, then that would have been fine, but it seems the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at the apple store...

I just picked up a 13" MacBook Pro 2.26 brand new with AppleCare for $1,050 cash from a seller on craigslist. I'm loving this machine more each day. It might become my main computer if I decide to sell my 24" iMac on eBay. I ordered 4GB of ram off eBay the other day to speed things up a bit. So far I'm once again another happy Apple customer.

Still no joy from apple. managed to grab the number for my mysterious caller. Ironically, it was apples business sales department "making sure I wasn't a business" as I've bought so much in the last 18 months...

No help for my actual missing laptop however. I've been told that "maybe" it's at the distribution center, but no-one actually knows where it is, and it's "under investigation". The last update to the ticket late today was that it was "STILL under investigation".

The support member today was shocked I hadn't been kept up to date via emails. To this point, I've had to initiate contact with apple every time in regards to this issue.

I've waited since the 12th, and it's getting pretty ridiculous now, because we're no further on. If it doesn't ship tomorrow morning, it's a bank holiday on monday in the uk, so I'm looking at next tuesday at the very earliest if it doesn't ship thursday for friday delivery.

No shipment notification by 11am tomorrow unfortunately means a cancelled order I'm thinking, and I'll just order from a 3rd party apple seller to at least cut a chunk out of the profit they'll make, or just wait for the next MBP revision.

If I had an update on the situation, I might be a bit more understanding, but to be two days overdue, and for them to have absolutely no information to tell me (lost shipment, damaged, reached the distribution center...didn't reach the distribution center) is just super poor form.... :(

Have you tried talking to "Customer Relations"? I don't know if you have them in the UK, but here in the US, I've heard that they can usually get something done and to your satisfaction. If you haven't already, it may be worth a try.

Thanks buddy. Found a number for them. I'll give them a try in the morning, I've been calling "sales support" for the apple store, which is a different number.

I will be ordering a 15" UB MBP within a week or two. Planning on upgrading to 500 GB 7200 hard drive and non-glossy screen.
Hopefully I get one with SL installed instead of an drop-in upgrade disc.
Then, in a few more weeks, going to put my current MBP (purchased early '07) on eBay.
:D

It's a CTO (3.06 500gb 7200rpm), and I've only just read that apparently you can do custom orders from applestore!

The nearest one to me is Sheffield (I'm in Leeds), which is about 45mins 1 hour drive, but I'd rather do that than wait this long :p

I'm tempted to buy a stock unit from a store, live with the 2.8 cpu instead of the 3.06 if I get no concrete answers from apple today.

Thanks so much for this...best advice I've ever got! :D

Called sales support, didn't have much joy apart from "oh, we've confirmed it was a missing pallet shipment"....no eta on delivery.

Called customer relations, he's confirmed that a dedicated truck was sent yesterday to collect pallets from the airport to deliver them to the uk distribution center, and these should arrive for 2:30pm. My delivery should then hopefully arrive by either this Friday, or unfortunately due to the bank holiday in the uk, by next Tuesday.

I told him about the call from apple business, and the irony of that against the state of this order, and that as we can't confirm a friday delivery, it'll be going into september for a product ordered just after the start of January.

As an apology, the've agreed to discount the m-stand i put on my order (£68.95), and I've agreed to wait it out, but am preying for delivery tomorrow

Service from customer relations was spot on, and could give much more detail than sales support. I don't blame sales support, and they were always very polite, they just couldn't tell me anything of substance! that was the annoying part :p

Oops. Sorry about that, I forget that MacRumors has people from all over the world. I looked around a bit on the UK site and found this page for current promotions Current Apple Rebates. Nothing there for printers at present. Looks like the Brits have less to choose from than the US, bummer. :(

just ordered my mbp! does anyone know if it'll have snow leopard pre-installed??
And does anyone know if apple takes Laser (maestro) cards?? that's what i used, my student credit card has a limit so couldn't use that. It doesn't have a security code or starting date so entered nothing for those boxes. I got to the order status number and am awaiting email. No email yet. Would that mean that they haven't taken it??

Well my shipment has a UPS tracking number now, and has reached Leeds, UK (where I am).

Unfortunately, it's now 11am, and the tracking still says ORIGIN SCAN from 5:03am this morning, not "OUT FOR DELIVERY" as it should if it was on a van and scheduled for today. I doubt they're going to put it on a delivery van when it's nearly the afternoon...

Soooo, looks like Tuesday now after all....so close, but yet so far.... :(

Now the wait begins...

At 11:45 AM EDT, I heard footsteps on my porch and looked out to see the FedEx guy, arms loaded up coming up to the door. Good sized unmarked brown box on the bottom and the HP C4780 sitting on top. I open the door so he can put his load down in the vestibule. He sits it down and hands me the signature device, I sign, hand it back to him and he's off. I look down and see that the C4780 has a shipping label right on the front of the display box and the brown box looks a little bit bulging from the weight of the printer sitting on it. I'm surprised that the printer wasn't in a shipping carton, and I pick it up and take it into the adjoining room to sit on the couch so I can go back and get the bottom box. As I turn around to go back, I realize that not only is the brown box bulging a bit but it has a unusual amount of tape all over the top of it and an abrasion/rip in the side. I go towards the door to see if I can stop the FedEx guy and point out the damage, but he's long gone. I look down and discover that the reason there is so much tape on the top of the box is because the weight of the printer or whatever else was piled on top of it has caused the top flaps to pull away from the original tape. I move it to the couch and look it over and it's definitely a bit worse for the wear. I decide to get the camera and take some pictures to document the condition, but the batteries are dead. So, here I am waiting for the batteries to charge so I can take some pictures and eventually open the brown box (shipping carton, I hope) and see what lies inside.

Based on the YouTube videos I've watched I've never seen a MacBook/Pro new or refurb come in a box this large, it measures approximately 14" x 22" x 12" that's why I'm assuming it's a shipping box. Rather than California (as I expected) this came from Pennsylvania.

Waiting....

03: 22 PM
Batteries charged. Pictures taken. Brown box opened. MacBook Pro in the expected plain white box was in bottom of box with about 2-yards of scrunched up brown paper on top of it. Apparently added weight of printer (or whatever) caused the box to distort, but since the MBP box was on the bottom it appears to have come through with only a crease along the top on the right side. Although the crease looks like it may have been in the white box before shipping. Gave a quick look to the contents of the white box and everything looks okay. I don't have time to actually unwrap the MBP and boot it now, but once I do I'll post an update.

09: 19 PM
Unwrapped. Carefully examined. Looks just like new, other than some smudges on the display. Setup, connected to my wi-fi network and here I am. Woohoo! :D
