Recently received my 15" Unibody MacBook Pro from work. It's pretty much the most maxed out you can get it, with 8GB of RAM and the 256GB SSD. With Apple Care and tax, it came out to around $4,500. Within two days of owning it, I dropped it on the ground when the laptop bag slipped off my shoulder. It was a small drop and it was in a protective case but it still bent the LCD case inwards and also made a nice ole dent in the top and bottom cases. $1,000 for parts and labor. Thank god for AMEX Purchase Protection, which covered the entire expense (always put expensive electronics on the AMEX!)

Oh, and yeah, best laptop ever!

I lucked out on an Open Box 13.3 MBP 2.53 at AAFES

I was walking thru the AAFES BX on post yesterday looking for an inexpensive netbook for my wife to use while I am away for some extended training early next year. I was planning to take my 20 month old Blackbook 2.2 with me. While looking over some of the returns, I found a pristine 13.3 MBP :apple: 2.53, with 4 GB RAM and a 250 GB HD. It was bought in October (for $1489) and returned a day later because the original purchaser decided to return it for a 17" MBP. It was 10% off because it was open, and they had a holiday bonus $75 off. I got it for $1265 (plus no tax). I ordered a Snow Leopard disk today for $9.99.

I am so stoked! I never get deals like this... :D This thing is awesome!

Happy holidays to you all! :)

I ordered a base model (2.26, 2gb, 160 HDD) for under $1000 on ebay. Still waiting on it, and when I get it, I might get either the 4gb ram upgrade or an external hard drive.

Question, do macbook pros support 3gb of ram? (2gb and a 1gb)?

Just ordered a 13" refurb last night.

2.53GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB HD, added a hard case for it, totalling £1030 (plus change).

Really looking forward to it, will be moving the SSD out of the Mini in to it, then selling the Mini and the netbook. Keeping the 23" screen for use when I'm at home if I need the extra screen estate.

Im well chuffed - not sure i needed it - but for the money i couldnt refuse.

Congratulations to everyone who just got a new Macbook Pro! :apple: I've had my 15" MBP 2.53 GHz for a few days now, since December 17. It is my first Intel Mac and I am enjoying it very much. I can say that this is the best computer I have ever used.

Enjoy!

Hi everyone, new member here!

I just recently opened my new 13" MBP (2.53 GHz, 250 GB hard drive and 4 GB DDR3 RAM).

I'm a lifelong Windows user who is making the change to a Mac.

I've been reading this message board since I purchased my Christmas gift back on Black Friday.

:apple: = me

Finally made the switch...longtime Windows user

15.4 uMBP 2.66, 4GB ram, 320HDD, geForce9400/9600

absolutely loving it, definetly not going back to any "pc" laptop anytime soon.
Awesome site and I plan on sticking around for a bit, tons of knowledge to learn here.

what's the saying again ? PC users swear at their computers, Mac users swear by their computers

I'm thinking about picking up a:

13' Macbook Pro
2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM

with a college discount of $100

Do I have to order from online or can I pick this configuration with discount up from the local Apple Store?

Thanks.

I visited my mum again today. I checked to see how the 2.53 Mac Book Pro 13-inch I gave her for Christmas was doing.

That little machine is fast! It only has the stock 5400 RPM hard drive in it, so I thought the machine would feel sluggish or something, but it really screams. I'm impressed by the entire system.
