Got my first Mac in the Friday morning from Apple education campus reseller.

I also ordered an iPod touch 8GB. Apple will rebate the full price for it.

How are you getting a full refund on the ipod touch...I am getting ready to order MBP 15", and also qualify for education discount.
please let me know...

This is Australia/New Zealand education promotion right now, because we just started the semester after summer vacation.

If you are in other part of the world, please wait until June, I think ...

Apple is replacing my 15" MBP with a 17". However, none of my bags will fit a 17".

Any suggestions? I'd like a messenger bag that isn't a "laptop bag" per se. Just a casual bag for books that can also fit my laptop. I'm a girl, so I don't want anything too masculine, but I don't want girlie colors. I like canvas bags in natural colors, that kind of thing. I plan to have a sleeve for my MBP, so the bag doesn't need to have any padding.

It looks like there's slim pickings for a 17"!

Check out Crumpler bags, I really like mine. Its all personal taste, but maybe something you like there. http://www.crumplerbags.com/

I got myself two days ago for 800 EUR (!)

Brand new in box (all seals in place, bought originally 2 weeks ago)

uMBP 13", 2.53GHz, 4GB, 250GB.

I couldn't be happier. This machine is just amazing, totally. Coming from the PC world, there is so far nothing I don't like. I was originally waiting for the Arrandales myself, and it was fun while it lasted. But there's a limit one can be waiting and I reached mine. Besides the deal I got for this "old model" was just too good to be passed.

:apple:

Broke down and bought a 13" MBP on Thursday.. I'm in no way disappointed.

Interesting, my 24" iMac has the same model ID.

Just go to system preferences/display/color then make sure the display profile "color lcd" is highlighted and click on "open profile."

Scroll down to the last #14 row and and select it/click on it.

Look under "model"

Model: 00009CBD

It should look like this.

As for which screens are good, so far I'm starting to think that this model 00009CBD I received is the good one.

I mean I'm coming from a ati-glare 17" hi resolution display and this 13" screen is just as impressive.

There seems to be a perverse Steve Jobs/Apple characteristic that likes to keep their updates a state secret.

This is almost an insult to their existing customers, who don't know what's going on, and annoying to new customers, like myself.

I need a new notebook and am eager to try and buy a New Macbook Pro, but I am getting fed up of waiting and most of all, like many on this forum, of NOT KNOWING.

Why can't Steve Jobs/Apple issue a statement, like the vast majority of other manufacturers, letting people know when their upgraded models will be released?

I am THIIIIS close now to buying an ASUS N61JQ-JX018V, with core i7, USB 3.0, exresscard, etc.... Certainly I'm not going to pay the same or more money for a Macbook pro with obsolete technology (core duo, nvidia 9400M).

I know that many like myself are tired of waiting and are buying alternative notebooks, which are already available from many other manufacturers.

Apple is flush with money from their latest sales, but I can't help feeling that they are shooting themselves in the foot with this NO NEWS, NO UPDATE cocky mentality.

This post belongs in the Arrandale thread. Not here.

Ordered a 2.26 MBP yesterday. Should get it in a couple of days. Found a great deal, IMO.
Looks like they're still cranking out 13" MBPs, as of late Feb.

Which Mac Pro is right for you?

Well part of the ordering problem is always - which one to get. I don't want to know how many sleepless nights Apple's responsible for with that drill. I kept running in circles every 6 to 7 months I admit it ...lol... I thought this out a bit more in detail on my mac blog here which factors are relevant to buy a MBP, if you guys are interested. Macreviewz is my new site by the way and soft or hard hitting feedback always appreciated.

Someone posted a, site that shows real time updates to the Refurbished products available in the Apple Store, and has an RSS feed. I cannot find it and like a dummy forgot to bookmark it. Does anyone know the link?

Well, as posted in the Arrandale thread, I shelled over my hard earned today for a heavily discounted 2.8GHz 15" MBP from the UK refurb store.

Should arrive on Thursday, so looking forward to getting my hands on it now.

It will be my first Mac - so I'll be spending some time now finding alternatives for all my PC software.

Enjoy it. You made a good decision. I've had my 2.8 since last Friday and the sucker absolutely flies. I am coming from a PowerBook G4 and the experience is amazing.

Got a 13/2.53 inch MBP about a week ago. I went from a Sony AW 18.4 inch and I really like the portability and functional ability of the MBP. 1280x800 doesn't bother me nearly as much as thought it would.

Native playback of AVCHD files in Win7 works very well also.

I HAVE HAD THE RESTOCKING FEE WAVED SEVERAL TIMES!! I just picked up the 2.66 GHz mid MacBook Pro tonight at my local Apple store and have no regrets. My theory is this... the release will happen in the next 2 weeks and if so I will exchange for the new refresh. After 2 weeks my thinking is they are having a problem with the new chips and if so I prefer not to buy the first of the new "refreshed" or the newer laptops and will wait until the next round. This laptop is sweet and much better than my February 2008 pre unibody MacBook Pro.... I AM HAPPY

So my Bday is next month and ive been dying to get a Mac since windows vista ruined the world....unknowing to me, my best friend and my girlfriend have been planning to surprise me with the 15" MBP that i wanted. My girl was suppose to keep it hidden until my BDay next month but she couldn't wait to surprise me and on March 6 2010 I received my very first MBP:D:D:D:D:D:D

Got my new 2.8 15"
have 14 days incase updates come out.
and then 1 year accident protection so if they come out in June, I can have an "accident" and get an Arrandale :)

I finally bit the bullet and bought a new MBP 2.8GHz 15" have had it for 7 days today!!! I got a great deal on it and couldn't pass up saving $500 on a brand new MBP. I must say i love it, now i'm debating on if I should get the apple care or not? :apple:

If i had to guess i would say he probably got the protection from Best Buy. If that is the case, they WILL NOT replace the laptop under a one year plan. I know this because it happened to me with a windows based laptop. They will send it out and get it fixed for you though. Just don't get your hopes up that you will get a new laptop because you wont.
