In the same boat as you bruh. My 27in i5 should be coming to my doorstep literally any minute now. The anticipation is killing me! As for they're return policy, there is a 10% restocking fee if the box is opened, free if its unopened. So long story short, the $2000 plus I shelled out for mine would cost another $200 to return (there's no way I could restrain myself from opening it for a day as I've been saving for months to get it, and been waiting 10 days since I placed the order).

Either way, if you got an i7 coming in, there probably won't be to much of an update (just speed bumps) to justify paying a restocking fee and the time it takes to finally get the Mac to you. It all comes down to when you get it though. Seeing how you just ordered it, you could easily return it for free or even cancel your order now.

I bought AppleCare with mine so I'm actually kinda hoping there will be a yellow tint issue or dead pixels. I'll wait a month or two to speak up about it, then get it exchanged for a brand new iMac. :D

Ya digg?

I'm right there with ya. If the update doesn't happen tomorrow and the iMac shows up to my door, there is no way in hell I would be able to wait until next Tuesday to open that pretty little package.

I was looking around more and seems at both Amazon and Macmall the 27 inch iMac's are in short supply, but the 21 inch iMacs are not. Could the refresh be only on the 27 inch models?

Some sites are reporting low stock on the 21.5 inch model:

Pretty cool…
Of course, I have been saying July for weeks.

More support for a refresh.

What time of the day does apple generally do their updates? Is it usually Tuesday morning, or does the time of day vary?

Another site showing low stock:

http://www.powermax.com/parts/show/c-nim-z0gf-146870

http://www.powermax.com/parts/show/c-nim-z0gf-146882

http://www.powermax.com/parts/show/c-nim-z0gf-146755

On all the other iMac's on their site they list a quantity and a "usually ships in 24 hours" statement. All of the ones above state "call for availability".

Again...is this all a coincidence that Best Buy, Macmall, Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and now Power Max are showing low inventory of 21.5 and 27 inch iMacs?

As the sign says... disappointment ahead...

Yeah...I am expecting to be disappointment tomorrow...but at the least we are one day closer! I do think it is interesting that so many sites are reporting low inventories...but of course that happened over a week prior to the Mac Mini refresh...so Apple could always break with their past three months and instead release something on the 20th.

Who knows...they need some good news to distract the news from the iPhone4 Consumer Reports review.

More fuel for the fire:

Yesterday just one of the 27" iMac's was showing as low stock on Amazon.com...now both 27" iMac are showing low stock:

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iMac-MB...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1278959093&sr=8-2
Only 1 left in stock--order soon.

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iMac-MB...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1278959093&sr=8-4
Only 3 left in stock--order soon.

Ok...just to add more fuel to the fire, above are the links for the 27" iMacs listed on Amazon.com's website that are low stock. Notice the message on each...it gives the number left and then--order soon.

I just checked the other Mac computers on Amazon's website and found the following:

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Mac-Pro...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1278970017&sr=1-2
Only 3 left in stock--order soon (more on the way).

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Mac-Pro...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1278970017&sr=1-1
Only 5 left in stock--order soon (more on the way).

Anyone notice a difference there?

One says just "order soon" and the other says "order soon (more on the way). The previous post from the Amazon.co.uk site also just says the "order soon" without the (more on the way) part. Sure does look like something is happening with the iMac. Will it be tomorrow or the 20th?

Hi all,

all I know is that the refresh of the iMac is nearby, but could someone please give me a short summary of the new features to expect. Will they be great, or will we get disappointed? Is it worth to wait for the new models?
Oh and btw, why is everyone wondering what's going to happen these tuesdays, I mean, I might be a noob, but why Tuesdays?

Thanks all, I hope to hear from you guys soon and I apologize for my bad English :p

Browse through this thread. New GPUs and iX CPUs for 21.5" are expected. Apple usually updates on Tuesday, that's why the talk about Tuesdays

rofl no other updates? I thought it'd be something like USB 3.0 or new videocards or something.. lol

It's common for amazon to have low stocks, as they ship you the items from resellers usually. Don't get your hopes up too high.

At least you guys get to sleep and most likely wake up to something. I'm in Australia and it's Tuesday morning already. Tuesday night is common for Apple stuff here.

That does little to also explain why many resellers have low stocks? All of this information suggests a refresh today, including Apples recent timing of updates, macbook pro and mac mini. Do you really except the 21.5" iMac to sit around with the 9400M whilst the Macbook Pro and Mac Mini have the new Nvidia 320M?

Smaller resellers usually don't buy by the bulk, and Amazon tends to rearrange their reseller list all the times. For my Amazon, the 27 inch iMac only shows 3 left in stock, but the 21.5 inch iMacs have around 9 in stock-- which is about the average. Does this mean Apple's planning on updating the 27 inch iMac but leaving the 21.5 inch iMac with 9400m gpu?

I thought that Amazon showed the lowest priced in-stock new item from a preferred reseller if either Amazon itself is out of stock or the reseller price + shipping is less than the Amazon price. If resellers keep rotating that could mean that they are each running out of stock or adjusting their prices. Could be a little of both if they are gaming on the chance that a refresh is coming and trying to clear inventory before they have to really slash the price of the old gear.

Bad news...Amazon has changed their 27" iMacs to: Only 5 left in stock--order soon (more on the way)

That makes me think - no update tomorrow...

I'm pretty sure using Amazon's inventory as a refresh indicator isn't the best method...
