can i still be hopeful? :(
i am dying for a new imac!
i wonder if the apple store updates at the same time here in Hong Kong..

if it doesnt happen today our next hope is next tuesday, is it correct?

unfortunalty, yep. another long tuesday away.

Apple do occasionally update models on a Wednesday, but Tuesdays are far more usual.

Maybe Apple are a little superstitious and don't want to release a product on the 13th :D

Nope...don't think that is it:

April 13th - MacBook Pro
May 18th - MacBook
June 15th - Mac Mini

All were the Tuesday that fell closest to the middle of the month...which is why I was banking on today...July 13th.

Oh well.

That did seem to be a good indication that the release would be today... Oh well, as you say, there's still hope for next Tuesday I guess (fingers crossed)

Look at it this way chaps. If they don't update until next month it's much more likely that a Sandy Bridge desktop chip might make it into the revision. Quad-core i5 at 3.1GHz anyone? I certainly think it's worth waiting another month if that ends up being in the machine I buy.

True, I would rather like to wait another month and get the latest chipset/CPU combo than get it now and receive a unit that will be the previous generation in a month. Especially when you aim to keep the computer for ~2-3 years.

its not time for new Imac..Steve doesn't care about it...
just Ipad and Iphones..oppsss...sorry,,,ipod touch 4 ( 750 euros and no antenna.....iouiiiioooouuuiiuiuioooooooooo000000aaaaoooiiiii ...totally radio freeeeee)
its time to save our money,,,

I'm actually more inclined to wait it out for another year and buy the iMac with the Sandy Bridge processor. I mean I made it this long...

Then what's stopping you from waiting an additional year after that for ivy bridge? :p

Nice refresh!:p

pretty |ˈpritē|
adverb [as submodifier ] informal
to a moderately high degree; fairly : he looked pretty fit for his age.

July (pronunciation) (help·info) is the seventh month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one of seven Gregorian months with the length of 31 days.

Totally agree, but I'm planning on keeping mine for a lot longer than 2-3 years.
If I get 5+ years good useage I'll be happy. Is it better to pay a bit extra for the top end imac when it comes out if planning to keep for long time or is it better to go cheaper and upgrade sooner so you have the latest technology in 3 years time say?

imac refresh next tuesday?

Hello again guys.

I was expecting a imac refresh today but it didn't happened. I'm so disappointed.

what do you think about next week,20th july? Expectations for it?

Guys,

i'm seeing best buy site and the 21.5' model, with 1tb,4gb ram is like : BACKORDERED. What does that means? what do you think?

p.s.:Sorry for my bad english again!

Exact the same thing happened with the mac mini as with the imac now: everybody reporting low stocks in a variety of shops, no update happened. The week after it hit the masses. My expectation: the imac will be refreshed the 20th.

Definition of BACKORDERED
Customer order which cannot be filled now, and for which the customer is prepared to wait for some time. Percentage of items back ordered and the number of back order days are important measures of the quality of a firm's customer service and the effectiveness of its inventory management.

The only thing I would take from this... we may see more retailers experiencing backorders and limited stock as we get closer to a refresh. The refresh from a timing perpective - know one knows but my bet is still on mid August. ;)

Thanks for the definition blu-ray.

Why do you think the refresh will happen in august? What about next week? Don't you think it's possible?

Waiting for august is gonna be an eternity for me!

If it helps you, you might want to ask this question every week. Eventually it will get answered correctly.:p

To be quite honest no one here really knows. Hence the 'rumours'-all these supposed street dates are just speculation and conjectures.
