Ignore the route and go the way you know it should be. According to Apple, it will be noted automatically, right?

there are always workaround. However, the issue is more than just a suggested route nearby my location, it fails the estimated travel time and also the time to leave reminder for calendar event.

moreover, the map would direct me first to nearby bus top about 25 min walk away. Hence, for the routes suggested for any locations beyond the next subway station , the maps would more frequently to suggest multiple transit of bus rides, which makes Map suggestions far from practical use.

What I’m saying is, route the long route and then just walk the correct way. I know it will constantly tell you to turn around or go somewhere else, but if you start where you should start and end where it ends, it should automatically send the route to Apple as a better way.

And of course, submit a route suggestion via the normal “report an issue” channel in the app.

Hmm Apple Maps (14.4.2) still showing and announcing the old “wrong” exit numbers on Massachusetts interstate I-95 several months after MA DOT changed them From sequential to distance based numbering.

I think they just changed those exit numbers over the past several weeks. Hasn’t been months for sure. The story linked to below indicates it is a 10 week process beginning Feb 25th. Apple will probably not change Maps until it is done.

Spent the last 11 days with my parents…upgraded Mom from an iPhone 6 to 12 (hah)…internet from 100 mb to gig service (for $25 less per month)….and then driving to dinner one night, “What is this we’re looking at??”

I was using Apple Maps on their CarPlay and they had no idea about the stop signs/traffic lights, update Siri directions (natural notifications) etc.

They both use Waze and now want to switch.

And then, driving to the airport this morning, watching my Dad use Waze…all the map clutter…and I swear, he uses the view mode where the map is always pointing North. Hah

Brrrr!!!

Did you actually refer to the auto route sending capability of CarPlay?

Apple Map has no way to know the types of transportation and nos of transit I took if I went with the my own route other than it suggested.

how could Map app auto send the route to apple?

I guess I’m assuming it would flag that you are “driving” on a walking path…anything to tell them that their suggested route is not the best one.

Sent feedback about bike paths in my area that aren't on the map because of how new they are. It's been a few months now with no response and no change.

Sent feedback yesterday morning to correct some information on POI's...got a response just before dinnertime and the changes were visible not long after that.

I wonder if the bike path data is coming from towns themselves, instead of public reports. Maps shows every bike path in my town...except for the ones that were constructed after the new Maps were released for our area. (Google shows all of these new paths, except for a short stretch of one of them). Other than bike paths, the Standard Map view is impressively up-to-date for my area. Looking at just the neighborhood I live in for example, which is going through RAPID development/construction right now, they've even added 3D models for new homes. They must've come through here recently, because many of these 3D models came within the last month. They even added the model for a retirement home on the other side of town...which just opened last week...as well as the road leading to it. These changes make the Standard Map View far more up-to-date than the 2D satellite view is. Interestingly enough, Apple's 3D satellite view, while not as up-to-date as the standard view is...is ALSO more up-to-date than the 2D satellite view is.

Probably…I thought one of the conditions for rating a POI was that Maps has to see you have actually been to that location so it prevents bots or paid services from uploading fake reviews/pictures.
No, this isn't a condition.
If you've been to a place, or recently viewed it in Maps, you'll see it as a suggestion to rate in the Maps app.

You can view and rate/submit photos to places you've never been. However when you submit photos/ratings, your 'current' location is sent with your rating.

Can you show this? Screen shots. Surprised no one is t showing this feature as much…but, it’s not in the USA, so….

I like to know where you are.

the poi review function (not even thumb up or down) is not enabled in hk.

Click on a point and first you get this:

When you click on ‘Recommend this place’ you get this:

7D597282-D5B4-4854-84D7-3C430F21AD16.jpeg

Note: I’m 3hrs 46min away from this randomly click on POI and I’ve never been there...

EDIT: I’ve also noticed that depending on the type of POI it gives you different options to like:

DA2F4837-A4A1-4091-8569-83A1691069EA.jpeg
However I’ve not found any POIs that have been rated by other people yet. This could be because the system is still on beta so the ratings aren’t being shown or maybe no ones using it yet?!

wow, it looks like the review feature is available depending on POI locations not the uses s location.

I checked Boyes and it worked!

Official changes for Maps listed in the iOS 14.5 release notes;

Maps
  • Accidents, hazards, or speed checks along your route can be reported by telling Siri on your iPhone or on CarPlay
  • Estimated time of arrival (ETA) can be shared when cycling or walking, in addition to driving, by asking Siri or tapping on the route card at the bottom of the screen, then tapping Share ETA
CarPlay
  • ETA in Apple Maps can be easily shared while driving with new Siri or keyboard controls in CarPlay

For anyone who missed the Apple Event, there were no announcements made regarding expansions of Apple's own map data.

I installed the GM beta on my iPhone 11 today in Canada and don't appear to have the accident/traffic reporting functions.

It seems like Apple has confirmed that we'll be able to rate points of interest located in the United States. If you look 33 minutes and 2 seconds into the video of the Apple Event, you can see an iMac running Maps. The information card for Joshua Tree National Park is shown along with the text “Recommend this place” and the option to either leave a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down rating. I assume that the option to submit photos would be added as well.

I found the poi review feature availability depending on the location of POI, not the users location.

However, it seems the feature is only available selected POI. Boyes (as shown in my previous post) worked for me, but not other POI in UK.

Yes, not all places have the ability to rate (or add photos, sadly) depending on their category - and as pointed out earlier, the options to rate are also different based on the category.

Eg, I can't rate a train station (or add photos.... again, sadly) or a school, but cafe, dentist, supermarket are all fine.

(this is in Australia)

Yes, only certain types of POI can be rated currently. I can understand not being able to rate some types of POI (eg places of worship, emergency services, places associated or linked to a political party, or those not accessible to the public). But currently you can’t rate hotels which must be because the feature is in an early testing phase.

Front page updated...still waiting for someone to confirm that Andorra is included with the update. Assuming Gibraltar is included, but maybe not.
Nice to see new testing! I can't see it either, so I won't be able to answer that one for you. What I CAN say though...is that Apple has gone into rapid overdrive responding to feedback I've sent in over the last week. I've been getting responses and visible changes on the SAME DAY I've sent feedback on! On everything except for the new bike paths I've reported over the last few months, which would bring me back to what I said the other day about that data possibly coming from towns themselves, instead of user reports. The longer I go without seeing a change on that...the more I'm thinking that's how it works.

Funny you mention that...I got a couple of notifications for corrections I made as well.
