I'm starting to feel like no device either Android or iPhone will ever reach the 11 Pro Max in terms of battery life. Standby of almost 14 hours and 0% battery lost. jailbreak makes settings look different but the stats are accurate. Anyone with a newer Android have good specs they can share? My G8 might, unfortunately, be on its last legs.

Don't iPhones drain very slowly to begin with and then more quickly as the battery empties? So the first 10/20% might not be a true representation of it.

I'm not disputing how good the 11PM battery is, but I doubt you'd see standby time like that for the entire 100%.

Yep. Apple are notorious for skewing their battery life numbers so that at the beginning the battery number drains very slowly. They makeup the difference at the lower half of the battery where iPhones drain faster. Its just Apple ****ing with the actual percentage of battery life they are showing the user.

I'm not disputing this but I'm trying to find the Android version of this device. I need the battery life. It might not be necessary but I prefer to not have to think about it. Recommendations?

It depends on what type of phone you like.
Samsung phones....
Note 20 Ultra gets almost as good as my 11 Pro max
Then the Pixel 5 and 4a are supposed to get great battery life as well.
The S20 line up gets great battery life too.

Can you do a full day run for me on your device? Which one do you currently daily drive now? 100% to 20% if you haven't already.

You've always had well rounded use and experience.

Kinda bummed out about the prices in Canada. 1500 dollars for a mid range iPhone is insanity, especially when the Pixel 5 is like half of that. Although the ecosystem keeps me locked in

Being a phone addict, I was able to buy the iPhone 12 pro last night at my local Apple store. I switched from iPhone 11 Pro to Pixel 4 XL last year mainly for the camera and so far loving it

I really wanted to like the iPhone 12 pro and come back. Initial impressions so far. Great looking phone with amazing feel and build quality. Not surprisingly I found it small to hold coming from 4 XL. It’s been a day and surprisingly I’m m not enjoying the iPhone as much as I thought I would. I actually like some of the android gestures more and miss it on iOS. I always used to prefer the fluidity of iOS over android.

Have taken a few indoor photos on both phones and pixel 4XL photos are the same or better in some cases. My pixel 4 XL is as smooth as iPhone 12 pro in general use. I’m not a gamer or big into videos. So I don’t find any difference in regular use between my he two.

Some of the apps are definitely better on iOS.

I’ll continue to use iPhone for the next few days and see. Can’t see how I can justify spending almost CAD1500 when I can get a pice 5 for half of this.

Darn, I'm so jealous of the screen time Jamezr, I haven't had battery anxiety for years but I'm close to it some days.
Looking at your graph, did you charge halfway through the day?

I love my screen and camera, the camera is amazing, no worries about the exynos being the lesser when it comes to apps and stuff, but my battery is not stellar.

Sorry @Klyster It is that Exynos chip!

I should point out that I am on the Android 11 One 3 beta. The beta (Android 11) has a lot of battery improvements.
I ended up getting almost 9 hours SOT

Then when comparing battery life to iPhones..
Most new Android phones have 5G hardware installed. Which consumes more battery
Then the Note 20U has a bigger brighter display that consumes more energy.

From what I am reading in the iPhone threads, the iPhone 12 is not getting as good battery life as the iPhone 11. This is most likely from adding the 5G hardware in the iPhone 12.

All reviews I read on the iPhone 12 Pro on battery life, is it's ok, not bad, but not great. Everyone says the 11 Pro has longer battery life.

It seems this year Android phones are the battery champs. The Samsung Galaxy phones getting great battery life, the Pixel 5 incredible battery life. OnePlus as well.

Catching up here... enjoy this conversation and some great point of views and observations... First off I always go to my Fold for most things... I've always gone to the Android side when doing daily stuff... I will not be leaving this Fold till the next one.. Truly enjoying it and surprised where we are at this stage in foldable.. Pro Max 11 is a beast battery wise and I'm thinking I don't want to sell mine.. Oh man I love this 12 pro build.. It's so comfortable to hold and just love how flat it is... Yes battery is alright just get spoiled with previous phone so you notice it... I do miss larger screen but I like comfort too.. So if I didn't have Fold probably return it for the 12 Max..

I’ve owned Android and Windows phones and they all do this so please stop with this Apple fricking with you crap. There is a technical reason why this is done. Since phones start slowly discharging when they reach 100%, you might wake up in the morning with 99% even if it’s been on the charger all night. So instead of freaking people out wondering why, anywhere from 96-100% true charge level will read as 100% and true charge is slightly skewed from displayed charge until it eventually evens out when it gets below 50%. Big deal, no one cares.

You are being naïve if you think Apple doesnt do this purposely. Im sure android does it as well to a degree but Apple is notorious for displaying higher levels of charge that arent accurate to what the battery is doing. I dont care that they do it. It doesnt bother me in the slightest but you trying to makeup a technical reason is just drinking the koolaid. There have been plenty of articles written on this in the past (since this is something Apple have done for years) and basically its done as an artificial way of tricking you into thinking the battery life is better than it is. Again, not a big deal, as both iOS and android do these thinks to trick you into thinking battery and performance is better than it is (another example would be animation speed).

And you’re being intentionally ignorant if you don’t realize that all manufacturers do this for reason I stated. I certainly didn’t make it up. I assume you know how to use a search engine so look it up.

Anway, I’m done with you. Have a nice day and don’t forget your tin foil hat if you’re going outside.

Wow, they have their hooks in your deep. While you're talking **** about using a search engine, maybe take your own advice and lookup the countless articles that have been written on Apple fudging these battery numbers. Ever wonder why those articles were written, specifically aimed at Apple and not other OS'es? Because they skew the numbers more than everyone else.

Oh and I'm a frequent Apple user before you try and throw the Android vs iOS ******** at me. But you were right in saying theres no need to continue this, run along back to the iPhone forum.

Thank you! That's not bad. I bet if it was running only LTE not 5G, it would higher? Or do you run it mostly on LTE/WiFi anyways?

I redid my battery standby at less than 100%. No drop in 10 hours. I wanted to test out that quick drop after it gets past 100% but on standby that didn't occur.

I'll be testing again tonight at under 50%, so I can see the result.

I can't choose between 4G or 5G. If I am in a 5G area then it switches automatically for me.

I am working from home so just about all of my usage is on Wifi :)

I do find that my iPhone 11 Pro max is pretty much battery king for me. Not by much but it does win out most of the time.

But I think that will change with the iPhone 12 Pro Max because it will have the more power hungry 5G chipset.

Here is a review of the iPhone 12 Pro by MBKHD.....
He says it is not worth the money over the regular 12
He kinda says the camera is nice but wait for the iPhone 12 Pro max....

I am sure all reviewers are still under embargo until the 12PM is released in a couple of weeks

I don't there's any doubt the Pro Max will be the one with the best specs & most improved iPhone this year. But one thing he didn't mention, the size & weight will be too much for a lot of people. Still can't decide if I think the Graphite or Pacific Blue looks better. Pretty sure the Graphite will be the easiest one to get on launch.

@Septembersrain You said you jailbreak your iPhone. How recent are the jailbreaks? I didn't realise it was still a thing. Being able to place my apps where I want on iOS would be a mssive thing for me!

I haven't checked out the vid.. I've seen a couple of videos from other Youtubers and they all share the same perspective to some degree.

The 11 Pro is not a huge upgrade to the 12 Pro and Apple didn't add too many features to the 12 Pro to separate it from the 12. As a whole, the latest iPhones are still going to sell out in record numbers, there's no reason to doubt Apple profits will continue to soar.

Only iPhone I'm intrigued with is the Mini, primary because it's a unicorn amongst all these large screen smartphones.

I think size & weight will be much more a factor for the 12 Pro Max, for which it's not available to compare with. I think deciding about weight & size between the 12/12 Pro... is a non-issue (imo). The average consumer is mostly concern with the camera quality between the 12/12 Pro, that's pretty much it.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant the Pro Max. Like when he was talking about the improved specs of the Max, the size & weight was never mentioned. But that'll be a big deal for lots.
