I still can't decide between the 12 and my Fold 2.
I am going to put my sim back in the fold today and see if I miss the iphone at all.
I also swap the SIM between the iPhone and Xperia.

I am convinced of Android. Make the applications worse, it's hard. But I will decide on my own phone.

An additional disadvantage for Apple is the lack of ANT support, which is important for sports devices. This protocol is less problematic than bluetooth.

I want to buy a bike trainer and this is another argument for an Android phone. At the same time, the price works to the disadvantage of Xperia - two large expenses at once can be too big a challenge :)

Unless I change Xperia 5 II to 10 II;)

I was under the impression the Fold2 was gone and replaced with the Pixel. I recall the camera quality was the reason for dismissing the Fold2, I know I read somewhere Samsung improving the camera.. not sure if it will help change your mind. Unfortunately, I haven’t received any updates to see the improvement.
So if i do trade it in a year later it has me questioning will it take away from the value when trading it in with EE...frustrating as i have looked after it as well as any phone
It looks harmless. But it’s no telling how those trade ins will be on the Fold2.. especially when original Fold owners had their trade ins sent back because of a ridiculous name change.

No the sale fell through. So I kept hold of the Fold. I don't post in the Fold shrine thread hence you maybe not catching that. :)

So I've kept hold of it and have been enjoying using it. It isn't the quality of the camera necessarily, its more the post processing being a little aggressive. Sometimes that does work in its favour, but not when you want a realistic shot.

Updates wise, I haven't seen many for the Fold. One since owning it and that was last week (October Security patch).

It's interesting that Hey, the infamous email app at the centre of the App Store controversy earlier this year, supports widgets for iOS but not for android.

Make of it what you will.
The iOS widgets right now are garbage. Apps that could benefit from widgets, like Apple's own Messages and Mail, don't even had widgets available. I hate that none of the widgets are interactive (pressing on my YouTube Music widget opens the YouTube Music app to complete the action). I don't know why any developers would waste time with widgets on iOS right now.

I agree with this. I have a Garmin Edge cycle computer and it’s annoying that in order to monitor heart rate I have to wear an uncomfortable chest strap. I know it’s more accurate but I’m just after general monitoring. My Apple Watch should be able to cover that but it simply will not integrate with the Garmin as it doesn’t support either ANT or Bluetooth transmit.

My WearOS watch, however, can use a simple free app (Heart for Bluetooth) that sends the watch HRM sensor data so it can be displayed on the Garmin screen during a ride. Garmin’ s own smartwatches also support this (and Samsung, I presume). Really annoying as I have a fully featured Apple Watch on my wrist doing nothing during a ride.

When I looked the other day, new/mint condition Fold 2s were going for around $1500 on Swappa. So, a considerable depreciation from MSRP in just a few months. But that's not abnormal for a flagship Samsung phone. Especially one that started with such a high price. Most people that can afford one aren't going the used route.

Proprietary cables and connectors,
The use of a non repairable chassis.
No charging brick,
No earphones,
High prices,
Lock-ins (or outs) everywhere,
No Secondary fp access for a world with masks,
And all of the other Apple shenanigans that go with ownership.

I don't get the love of them tbh. The lack of a FP scanner and the glass chassis is something only Apple could get away with.
Not saying your wrong but vast majority don’t care. As long as the phone works, camera is good, looks good and is popular people will buy it.

And I think for the most part Samsung provides incentives to bring the Fold2 to a manageable price. Whoever pays full retail price for the Fold2 just isn’t doing it right. Sometimes from a repair aspect, Samsung wants your receipt/proof of purchase. And, I think buying it used... that gets missed when exchanging hands.

What the hec is Hey? lol...never heard of it. I had to look it up,... email?
I dont use a email widget.

Also as someone said, widgets on iOS arent good as does the customizations still suck on iOS homescreen, etc. Someone showed their pages with widgets and their icons customized somewhere....maybe here, still looked like a jarbled mess. iOS has a way to go still but at least they are giving the dieshards something other than the normal boring stuff.

You can say that about a lot of phones that dont cost what Apples do but when you pay over $800 for the cheapest with a measley 64 GB of space or whatever they cost and then have to fork out $50 more for a charger, id think many care. The vast majority arent buying expensive phones like that.

I can afford the iPhone 12 but dont want to spend their price. Hec i dont want to spend the Pixel 5 price of $700. Im just tired of spending these prices for something ill have 2 years tops and why i have a Pixel 4a.

I may get a Pixel 4a 5G if it goes down in a few months. Just not that important to me to have a flagship.

Depends on the app, even on android I don't use many that requires to interact with the apps I want widgets for are for news at a glance, search, calendar widgets, clock widgets etc. And while it will take time more apps are being updated that are usable just not a long list are at this stage

I will be honest most of the widgets on ios are stuff I will use just want more sports news widgets and I'm pretty much got what I have on my fold. The issue is not being able to place it where you want...

I think the term widget is a bit misleading. Think iOS' widget like Windows Phone's tiles. Basically they are to provide glanceable information.
Take the Notes widget. You cannot even scroll the thing to show more content. Definitely feels limited for someone (me) coming from Android.

Agreed, but android has had widgets for like 14 years. iOS a matter of a months so it will take time for developers and apple to expand widgets.

Yeah, at this point they are the iPhone equivalent of the ‘complications’ on the Apple Watch—shortcuts directly to an app that also display some information in a snapshot.

In typical Apple fashion, I suspect we’ll see additional functionality added over the course of subsequent iOS updates.

But, but....i thought when Apple finally gives you something they make it better than the other guys did lol.

Look, ive had thoughts of maybe checking out a iPhone since it has been so long since ive had one but everytime i research it, they just are so far behind Android as far as customizing and what you can do i always conclude it just wont be for me....not to mention the cost.
Keep reading the Apps are so much better, but i seem to manage fine with them. I cant use my Wifes iPad very long before i put it down to use my Samsung Tablet or just my Pixel.

Guess it depends, i think some widgets do look better than on android but in terms of being functional android widgets are generally better. The difference between the two is now apple has added widgets a lot more developers will be designing better ones or widgets that add more over time.

For me i want widgets that are good for news, glances and something that is useful. The only widgets that for me are useful to be interact with it will be say music widgets as that would be useful or podcasts widgets.

Apps for me generally are certainly better on IOS over a bigger amount of apps but yeah most android apps work fine and do the job that one would require. I think a lot of the times it all depends on the app.

If android does everything you need it to do i see no reason for you to change with what works for you to be honest..

Pixel 5 isnt going to cut it so it looks like I'll be pre-ordering the 12 Pro Max. Not looking forward to going back to 60hz but being back on iOS will be interesting.

It's not so bad lol... 60hz for what iPhone does is perfectly fine... Just don't stray too far from the Android... Hehe

Dont get me wrong, I prefer android. But I like to go back to iOS every once and a while and see what they offer. I know some people think the refresh thing is overblown, but I feel it a lot and it makes a huge difference to me. Especially when moving around the OS and scrolling websites. The jump from 60hz to 90hz is jarring, not so much 90hz to 120hz. But going from 120hz on my S20 plus to 60hz on the iPhone will be rough. I feel like I'll get used to it, but it'll take a few days.

I still might buy my friends Fold 2 as he'd sell it to me at a good price. I'm still undecided.

Haha you definitely see it ..Agreed!

I won’t do Android phone under 90hz and of course we have no choice with IOS right now ...

I’m enjoying some of the widgets on iOS currently. Typically, the third party ones are much better than Apples own I have found. The Spotify one is great and I have found a good time and date one which gives a lot of customisation.
Certainly makes iOS a little less boring anyway.

One area where iOS has an advantage in regards to widgets is the ability to stack them and use a smart rotate feature. In an effort to not add a bunch of extra home screens, I’ve allocated a singe panel for widgets. Stacking has allowed me to add 6 new widgets to a single home screen in two large sections.

I haven't used a stacked one personally but have one on each screen (4 total). They're pretty good to just change up the boring list of icons.

I dont like how Apple decided to finally add an app drawer, but one where they group everything in a way that makes sense for them instead of letting the user do it. Its just another example of Apple thinking they know what the user wants instead of giving them an option to choose.

To pretend Apple would give you some freedom with the App Drawer is quite disingenuous. I don't view it as Apple withholding options... I look at it as a means to build upon. I think Apple will provide more option to the App Drawer over time, but it's their first attempt at an App Drawer that been a long time feature with Android.

Wait a darn min! Stop the Presses! You going to the iPhone after you went to war over it being 60hz! I imagined the days of you buying a iPhone were history since it's only 60hz, what is going on?? Lol
