I don't there's any doubt the Pro Max will be the one with the best specs & most improved iPhone this year. But one thing he didn't mention, the size & weight will be too much for a lot of people. Still can't decide if I think the Graphite or Pacific Blue looks better. Pretty sure the Graphite will be the easiest one to get on launch.

@Septembersrain You said you jailbreak your iPhone. How recent are the jailbreaks? I didn't realise it was still a thing. Being able to place my apps where I want on iOS would be a mssive thing for me!
There is a Pacific Blue 12PM with my name on it somewhere right now! The size and weight are not issues for me. I like bigger phones like the N20U and 11Pm anyway.
I guess it all comes down to personal preferences like all things :)

Big phones have never been a problem for me either. Maybe not being a skinny jeans wearer helps. ?

My only issue with big phones is that I'm too afraid of damaging them. I can squeeze them into my jeans pocket just fine but I'm always wary of getting a nice scratch whenever I pull them out to use them. Even with a screen protector, I just can't turn off that instinct.

I tried the 11 Pro though and that mid size thing didn't work for me. So what I might go for now is a cheap SE 2020 for all the everyday use, maybe a used one so I really wouldn't worry about breaking or losing it. Hell I could even go for a good condition 8. And then I'd have a shiny 12 PM on the side for fun times, media consumption, productivity like working with docs on my iCloud desktop etc.

The real dream though would be an updated iPad Mini with OLED and Pro-style bezels. I'd get a 12 Mini as daily driver phone and be happy for the rest of my life.

Silicone pro max case is what I will order as due to the weight I think this might be the slimmest case available giving the size

I always use a case, but never a screen protector (the slightest imperfection would drive me nuts!). But I also use a soft pouch so I never have to worry about the screen in my pocket etc. Not for everyone but works for me.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant the Pro Max. Like when he was talking about the improved specs of the Max, the size & weight was never mentioned. But that'll be a big deal for lots.

No need to apologize. I haven't even watch the video and if he's doing a comparison between the 11 Pro Max to the 12 Pro.. then yeah, it makes sense to do a size and weight comparison. Especially to those who is debating on going from the 11 Pro Max to 12 Pro, which only might be a few.

The real dream though would be an updated iPad Mini with OLED and Pro-style bezels. I'd get a 12 Mini as daily driver phone and be happy for the rest of my life.

And that's why I'm enjoying the Fold2!

He just laid out that the upcoming Pro Max would likely be the one to go for with the most upgrades. But at the same time, didn't seem to take into account the size difference that would be a factor. Especially those that had the 11 Pro, the 12PM is almost a full inch bigger!

That's a given the Pro Max will have the most upgrades. I think because Apple decided to forgo some camera specs for the 12 Pro and put it all to the 12 Pro Max. I believe if they made it the same across the board between the Pro models, most would be in favor of the 12 Pro. However, that battery life will be nice on the 12 Pro Max.

One thing I'm not liking too much from some camera samples I've seen, is how bright some of the images look on the 12 Pro.

I'm still running 13.3. I'm not entirely sure how far the jailbreak goes but I think in iOS 14, it was likely patched.

Awesome device and I can absolutely see how it solves the equation for many people. But for me, the Fold is honestly more of a “neither” than a “both”. I would actually prefer having two separate devices, one cheap and very pocketable, one bigger but still small enough to be carried around very effortlessly. The SE 2020 + iPad Mini 2021 (hypothetical) would probably also set me back less than what the Fold costs.

Anyway, I just calculated the screen sizes and it turns out the 12 Pro Max screen is only 6mm shorter than the current iPad Mini screen, so the experience at least when watching movies wouldn’t differ that much. No Pencil compatibility of course, and the extra width of the iPad Mini would make many other things possible, but for now I think SE + 12 Pro Max is the combo I’ll go with.

I've gone back and forth with the same thought regarding Fold 2 vs phone and tablet combo. If I like the Pixel 5 I'll probably stick with that and upgrade my iPad pro.

Yeah, I understand. I totally misread it! I was thinking you were looking for a iPad Mini type phone as daily driver. Most people come in with the mindset that the Fold can be both your phone and tablet. And, when people go in with that mind state then they would come to realization of what you illustrated.

Because compared to another phone and tablet.. it's average. Sakitech explained it in his video while reviewing the Fold2, he wasn't sold on it neither. And, i believe that if someone comes into with that logic, they are better off just getting a smart phone and tablet as @Awesomesince86 and you mention.

I came into the process that it's a phone.. whether I'm interacting with it on outside or inside display. And there's no "phone" anyone can buy with a 7.6" display (that i know of). I know it's not for everyone, I totally get it. I have my iPad Pro.. and I don't care to replace it with the Fold.

I think some are also missing the point that the Fold for some removes the necessity of a tri device ie Laptop, Tablet and Smartphone where a Laptop and Fold is a preferred combination over a Tablet and Fold combination.

Like many a Tablet is not enough compared to a full OS laptop and enough tablet overlap is possible with a Fold :)

I love my fold 2 but nothing will replace an iPad Pro 12.9 for me. This is my go to machine from work to just browsing at home. Fold i view more as my mini tablet on the go and my iphone will be my daily driver i guess for phone calls and when i want to use a phone. Fold 2 will be my go to for YouTube, video content on the go and even when on the sofa at home where i don’t want to use my 12.9 as that is more when you are sitting out not laying around on the sofa.

Expensive but 12 pro max, fold 2 and 12.9 pro is my perfect tech balance.

Either I can't read these correctly or they are just flat wrong. The screen on and off time I don't get compared with the graph. At any rate: Left it alone around 11 PM, picked it up around 12PM next day. So in about 13 hours standby, battery was at 49% and went down to 47%.

It definitely does use more in standby under 50% charge.

iMessage has no match when the majority of your contacts use it for sharing media (photos and videos). I can receive clear and high quality photos and videos from my family instead of the grainy and low quality ones sent via MMS. I get that there are alternatives but the people I share media with don’t use any of those alternatives (some used Allo for a while to appease me but Google messed that up haha).
Hmm, I don't have grainy pics when I get or send them with Google Message. They look just like they do I my photos when I took them with my Pixel 4a

Great...if reduced battery life is not big deal for you..then great. But battery life is a big concern for most people.
You can argue all you want and try to justify it all you need to to. But battery life is one of the biggest aspects of smartphones.

I didn't say the 12 had a bad battery....it will not get as good battery life as the 11 for simple and very obvious reasons.....smaller battery and more power hungry technology that the previous model did not have....

Done...not going to endlessly argue with you back and forth like in other threads. I know your opinion is the only thing that matters and you state it as fact.
Have a great day....
The Pixel 4a battery life is awesome. I've got 7 hours of SOT from it
Id imagine since the 4a battery is the smallest, the 4a 5G and the P5 would be even better.

I still can't decide between the 12 and my Fold 2.
I am going to put my sim back in the fold today and see if I miss the iphone at all.

I watched MKBHDs review of the 12 Pro yesterday and agreed with the whole thing. The 12 and the 12 Pro are closer than ever before and I did say that there was really no reason to be buying the Pro over the 12 and I'm wondering why I did just that. I think it came down to the colours of the 12. I really don't like them so if I did end up swapping out for a regular 12 I'd be going boring black.

My puppy pulled my charging Fold off a shelf yesterday (via the wire) and has dented the bottom of it and there are now micro scratches over the hinge. To say I'm angry is an understatement. I had really been careful with this phone as I wasn't sure whether to sell it on or not and it was pristine up until that. So I'm pretty furious!

They always say said features aren't needed,.... Til iOS gets them (which is usually years later) and then it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It's interesting that Hey, the infamous email app at the centre of the App Store controversy earlier this year, supports widgets for iOS but not for android.

Make of it what you will.

For some reason which i have no clue about i have found a scratch on mine on the front display and it does bother me i must admit.

So if i do trade it in a year later it has me questioning will it take away from the value when trading it in with EE...frustrating as i have looked after it as well as any phone

Proprietary cables and connectors,
The use of a non repairable chassis.
No charging brick,
No earphones,
High prices,
Lock-ins (or outs) everywhere,
No Secondary fp access for a world with masks,
And all of the other Apple shenanigans that go with ownership.

I don't get the love of them tbh. The lack of a FP scanner and the glass chassis is something only Apple could get away with.
