screw you dude. Some of us need our phones. I made the mistake in trusting that Apple could still do their jobs even with Steve Jobs gone. What a joke. Think about this. If their servers can't handle a simple registration confirmation, how the hell is iCloud supposed to manage huge data transfers????????

When the update fails it doesn't make your iPhone useless. It works just as it was working yesterday.

Can't you wait another day? Maybe just a couple of hours?

EDIT: BTW, it seems they are starting to solve the problem. It now worked for me.

First calm down, secondly this has got nothing to do with Steve. This has happened before.

Went through internal service error. Then tried to restore to factory, and then got stuck in recovery mode. Then couldn't even get past recovery mode for a while. Finally everything went through. Just calm down, it will eventually work.

It's a horrifying thought that the richest company in the world can't invest in stronger servers.

They know exactly how many millions of iOS devices they've sold. Why is this still an issue in 2011?

Let's be realistic... why in the world would they invest in beefing up their servers 100-fold to accommodate the millions of people trying to update their software on one single day? Doesn't make any sense AT ALL. Be patient, it'll download when traffic slows down.

*Sheesh

I know!! Because this TOTALLY wouldn't have happened if Steve were still here.

Ok, finally worked. My story:

9 tries, with iTunes crashing my iPad 2, and it needed to be restored. Then I just option-clicked Restore and located my downloaded IPSW file and it worked!

Hope everyone gets it soon!

Now I'm getting error 3014 when I try to Restore & Update.

Yeah, I got that too. Then, my phone hung up while trying to restore and the screen just went blank. I turned it off and back on and iTunes recognized it as a phone in restore mode. It took a couple of tries to get it to start to restore, which it's doing now and taking FOREVER. I don't know if I'll be in iOS5 or 4 after it's done. If it's not iOS5, I'm just going to wait until tomorrow.

He is just really angry because he was really excited for iOS 5 and now he has to wait a bit longer. Maybe he should be a bit more appreciative of what he has.

Because iOS devices are supposed to be premium products where amateur errors like this should not happen.

having some people not able to get their updates in the first 5 hours its out doesn't seem like that big of a mistake to me.

It's not about not getting the update, it's about the FAILED update BRICKING the device and rendering it useless until they fix their servers because we cannot Restore & Update without the verification.

Add me to the list. I synced my phone beforehand, took about 2 minutes to backup. When I do the upgrade, It seems to backup at abour 30% after 20 minutes, then crashes.

iPhone 4 launch day att

Keep trying, I bricked both mine and my wife's and they are working fine now with iOS5. Stop freaking out, you're just as annoying as update issues.
