Update after months of use

I'm getting a bit sick of my LG G3.

There are many things I love about it but here's why I'm close to the end:

- Multitasking: there is a glitch which means you press the multitasking button, and it says nothing has been running (you could have 1 or 10 apps open). You have to wait 15 seconds, then try again, then it usually recognises it.

- Camera: the camera itself is generally great, certainly one of the best (though far from perfect). But saving photos is becoming hit and miss. Saving photos! You take a picture and frequently it just says "No media found!" and that's it, it's gone. Ridiculous.

- Laggy: I have to admit that this phone has become laggy as hell. I know a lot of Android diehards think that no modern flagship lags, but trust me, my G3 really does. Sometimes it takes 0.01 seconds to open an app, sometimes 10 seconds. It's random as hell.

- Audio input: still a problem when you put an Aux In, bloody Voice Mate starts up sometimes. The headphones provided by LG don't work unless they are in the right position, otherwise they distort. With my own Sony headphones, the microphone can't be used when you're on the phone (all my other phones allowed it!)

There are other daily annoyances too, such as Knock On usually taking 2 or 3 attempts to work...
Frequently g.apps will just die...
The call volume on the phone is crazily low...
I could do a Top 10.

This is after having all the software updates, doing all of the recommended settings (with the secret menu, temperature etc etc) and yet these problems persist.

And these are things that happen many times a day, not just occasionally.

I love so many things about the phone but unless something changes soon, I'm going to sell it and look for something else.

Any other G3 owners experiencing similar problems?

I have the same issue with Voice Mate. It sometimes starts up randomly even though my headphones doesn't have a mic.

I was driving the other day, had the Aux Line in, was listening to a podcast whilst Google Maps was on giving me directions.

Every 5 seconds, Voice Mate kept activating.

I had to just pull the Aux lead out.

Exactly the same problem that I have. I hope this will get fixed in the lollipop update LG confirmed for december.

I've seen that multitasking issue on both my Nexus 7 2013 and SGS5. I'd say it's a KitKat issue. Hope it gets fixed in Lollipop.

The lag issue could be fixed with the Lollipop update, but who knows, it might end up being due to the screen.

I left Android because of continual problems like this. "Next update fixes everything" has been the line for years.

I was on iPhone for 5 years, and left for Android a year ago. Quickly went through a Nexus 5, Galaxy S4 and now a G3.

What I'm learning more than anything is that the closer to pure/stock Android, the better. And also SD cards seem to slow things down a lot.

I like Android and iOS, wish I could combine the two!

Ageed!

Even the Nexus devices can be iffy at times. I got rid of the Nexus 7 LTE pretty quickly. (Lack of tablet apps and smoothness).

The Nexus 6 looks good, but it's big. :/

I'm actually thinking about the Nexus 6. I know it's big but the G3 has whet my appetite for big phones! Waiting for the UK price/availability.

Also I think the tablet apps for Android aren't that great, hence why your Nexus 7 experience wasn't so good. But the apps for the Nexus 5 were brilliant, I really should have kept it.

I'm just not into big phones. I went from a 5.5" Note 2 to and iPhone 5 and loved it.

I use an LG G3 but my previous phone (still own it) was a S4 GPE. Even though it's an older phone, it's still smoother than the G3 I have now. Nexus and GPE is the only way to go.

Yeah I just sold my old S4 but I seriously considered keeping it and converting it to a GPE.

Maybe I should have done it! But thinking about the Nexus 6 potentially.

My FIL had an HTC One and it just completely failed on him (for no reason, he tells me). He lives with us and I pay for his phone, so I filed an insurance claim and they are replacing it with an LG G3. For those who have a G3, do you think that this is a good deal? Appreciate your opinions because I haven't used either phones; the only Android phones I've used in recent years are Nexus devices.

There is a LOT to recommend about the G3, but if you see my post above, it unfortunately can have a lot of niggling issues too.

The only think I found negative about the G3 compared to HTC / iPhone is that LG's own launcher is a bit sluggish. It has great hardware, but I noticed some small stuttering and lag with that. I changed to Nova launcher (my personal favorite, but there are a lot to chose from), and with that it became buttery smooth. Not much difference from LG's own launcher and there's a noticeable difference in the responsiveness.

Other than that, it's an awesome phone. On par with HTC, but better screen (imo), more comfortable to hold and better looking with its thinner edges. Replaceable battery and such is a big plus too for me. I think you'll be very happy with it.
