Just initiated an exchange of my Classic Buckle for a Milanese - already purchased a Black Leather Loop Separately.

Out of curiosity I asked if I could exchange for a Steel Link Bracelet and pay the difference and they said yes. They basically charge your card for the new band you are getting, then refund it for the band you send in. So for example, if I wanted I could have done this and would have been charged $449 when the Steel Link Bracelet was sent out, and refunded $149 when I sent in my Black Classic Buckle. I didn't do this of course, but the option is there!

When doing a band swap, do you have to ship back the nice case along with the band you are sending back?

Ship back exactly what they send you. If they send you a new band with a new case, ship back the old band and the old case. If they only ship you a band in a plastic bag, then just ship back the band.

But the case is so nice. Also, not sure the leather loop case would fit the ML.

Question for the people who did the band exchange via the online chat. Did your order status page get updated with the new strap? I used the online chat and spoke with a woman named Lisa. She was able to do the strap exchange without an issue, but my apple order status page does not show any details of the strap.

has anyone swapped a sport band for a leather loop or something more expensive?

for me the math isn't working out. The SS with leather loop is only $100 more than the SS with sport band, but the leather loop is $150 by itself. If i want to swap my SS sport for the leather loop, will I just pay the $100 difference?

If I buy the black SS and then swap for sport band, what kind of refund should be expected?

i don't know where u live but in Canada the process of exchanging my BSB with the Loop cost me $140(including tax) apple takes the $199+tax and refunds the $69+tax when they get the band back

while the difference of the BSB watch and the LL watch is $140 too ($779 compared to $919) so it all costs the same.

I think I understand the confusion here. I believe he was asking if the band case (which you would get if you ordered the band individually) has to be sent back with the old band since it came in the watch combo which is a separate box. I think that's how I understood his question anyways, I could be wrong.

It took at least overnight before the new band showed up on the order.

OK. I only have the Sport so not sure how the other bands were shipped, but I think people are over thinking this. They will send any new band in packaging that is suitable for shipping, so just pack the return in the same box to return it. It's not that complicated.

Received my exchange band Monday. Called Apple to see if I could just bring original band to store and they said yes, you can either send or bring back. Went to store, surprise, can't return there. Has to be sent back for refund. (They charged me for replacement band and I'm supposed to get refund when original is returned.)

P.S. Was told it didn't have to be in box when returned as it would have been whole watch box.

Honestly I had no idea what the best way to share this would be...hopefully this works for everyone fine.

That is all the information under the "Steps" tab of our Band Exchange Process Doc from Applepedia.

There you go, all the information Apple employees have on this process.

Band Swap sounds cool

Since I got the Space Grey, there does not seem to be much hope in me swapping my band. At some point - I am thinking about buying the blue leather loop. But I want to wait until the price comes down. And also until the market has some third party bands available.

Check out my Unboxing of the Space Grey BSB.

Has anyone shipped a band back to Apple yet? Besides the pre-paid shipping label that attaches to the package, is there a shipping form to include inside the return package? I got an email from Apple that only included the pre-paid shipping label.

Checked with Apple customer service on this. Apparently the label has all the information they need. Something else I found cool about this process is that they told me they only need the original band back. That means I now have a case for the band I exchanged for. The Milanese loop. I sent back the classic buckle . I also purchased the black leather loop. So now I have a case for both of my bands should I need them/resell them later on. Somewhat added benefit of exchanging = get a free case for the new band!

Monowear 3rd party band came in yesterday, so I decided to return my Apple SS link band. Called Apple yesterday to do an exchange for a 42mm black sports band. In less than 24 hours, card was charged, and orders status is now "Preparing for Shipment." Thought I'd post here in case anyone was wondering what the turn around time was.

I originally got the classic buckle and chatted to get an exchange for the sports band. It took about two days for the sports band to arrive and last night I chatted again to get a return label for the classic buckle for a full refund. Surprisingly, the rep actually told me I could return it to the retail store for a full refund of the band. Has anyone gone to the retail store for a full refund? I thought I had to send it in for a full refund. I am actually gonna try to return it to the retail store for a full refund tomorrow and I will write again whether it works or not.

I returned my 42mm watch to the store (already had received my 38 mm). I got a return label online and was told to take it to the store with the watch. They credited me there.
