There's definitely a reason it's shipping with a super fast charger. They already know the battery life will suck.

Also, the design isn't bad but good lord those speakers are so horrible looking.

They also started selling their "power pack micro" portable charger SMH.

I think Motorola is really banking Android L power saving. Time will tell.

Moto X v X size wise ... It's certainly much bigger....

That picture is clearly doctored. The screen sizes don't even match the real values.

What? Highly doubt it, seems to match up to the published specs as well.

Droid-life.com has a video comparing the two devices and it's abundantly clear that the new X is significantly larger than the first gen model. Here's a image from that article.

They should've stopped at 5" and gone to 1080p.

Even so i'm still strangely attracted to it. Its like a more practical LG G3. But for the paltry battery. Who ships a 2300mAh batter to drive a 5.2" 1080p screen + QC CPU in 2014.

Ridiculous.

No matter how much optimisations you do the laws of Physics/Chemistry remain the same.

It's definitely intriguing, but from a practical standpoint I don't know how much of a real upgrade it is from my Nexus 5 - same screen resolution, same size battery, 5" vs. 5.2" screen, both run "pure" Android...

The touchless features of the Moto X and the active notifications are unique, and the Moto Hint -- presuming the Google Now features are unique to the Moto X -- is also interesting.

But otherwise I'm not sure it's enough to make me spend $400.

That leather back though... might just push me to spring for it.

With this phone out now I am curious to see how much longer the OG Moto X will continue to be supported. They've impressed the hell out of me with how fast the updates have been. I've been getting them faster than some of my Nexus devices.

Why would android central do that?

Plus other from ibtimes.

Face it, its a lot bigger ....

I always thought the Moto X was a bit small so thats nice. I prefer a white face phone. Sometimes i takes me a while to find my N5 when it is sitting on something dark. I loved my white GS3. I will get white again if i can. Not sure id buy a green or orange Nokia 830 though. I wish it was going to be available in cyan.

2300 mAh for the Moto X (2014) is simply not enough for 1080p and I don't care if it is OLED or not.

Not a worthy upgrade if you have the 2013 model already. You are also losing one of the selling points from last year's model. Excellent ergonomics and size factor. Motorola simply can't compete with Samsung, HTC, LG, or Sony anymore. And it wasn't like the Moto X sold alot last year at 500k initially. Another flop in sales.

I prefer the new design and screen size to the old one. If you asked me two years ago whether I'd prefer a 5.2 inch phone to a 4.7 inch phone, I'd have laughed at you, but my opinion has shifted for some reason. The new one looks gorgeous from the back and the black front is also gorgeous. The white suffers because the extra sensors create a cluttered look but the black looks great.

I think the black one looks pretty cool. But I wont buy it. The Moto x was my goto device if I didnt like the iphone 6. but since the Moto x wont have a larger battery than the 4.7 (or at least only a merely larger), there is no point for me to change.

The Moto X was rumored to have a 3000 mAh battery. but oh well... other than that it is a really nice device though.

Well for me as they have announced all the software features will come over to the X current, and we already know Android L is coming to the current X, I will just keep using my current X which I am enjoying more than any other phone I've bought this year.

Are you guys sure the new G doesn't have LTE?

I read on one website it does. The Moto G 4G has it so it doesn't make sense for Motorola to not include it in the new G2.

Also, I returned my Nexus 5 due to poor battery (among other reasons) with its 2300 battery. The new X will be the same I bet. What a letdown.

Also no microSD... on Europe most times we don't get the 32GB model of any Android phone... we didn't got the 32GB model of the original X, for example.

I'll keep using my current X as well. Just another case of a new smartie whereby some folks will have to make concessions. I doubt that will ever end.

Waiting for what the Alpha and ip6 will bring to the table and hopefully in a smaller form factor for starters that I like.

Goodness knows I have enough toys already so to scratch the new X off the list is no biggie and it will help my wallet in case I do care for something else coming.

Every site I checked about info on the new G has no LTE. Most of these sites were doing a hands on, not just piggybacking off of forecasts/rumors.

Every one went as far to wonder if one with it will be released down the road.

Opportunity lost for Motorola with the new X for most of us who would have upgraded to it, I would of because of the price for one thing. I guess the company felt they needed to step up specs to match other competitors. Oh well, it is their ballgame.

Lol at the addicts in here saying they won't get it...we will see! You guys can't help yourselves !

Lol, but what is the compelling reason to do so if you have the original X? Yes we are addicts but ...

Besides, this will be old news in the coming weeks so not the latest/greatest. :)

Other than the lack of LTE on the G I would agree with you.

If the G had LTE, I'd be there with you.....but no LTE = no sale for me.

Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure it didn't have LTE, but anyhow, they'll come out with an LTE version eventually (just like the first gen).

Wouldn't it actually be more worthwhile then to just get a first gen Moto X, as the new G's specs seem each the same or inferior to the first gen X in most areas and you'd get the benefit of Active Display and LTE connectivity?

Wait a month and I can't see the first gen Moto X costing much more than the new G, if at all.

I was thinking in a Vacuum. Of course first gen moto x is better! But the first get moto x won't be $180 unless you buy used. $180 for a brand new 5" display that's not from a Chinese manufacture and doesn't have bloat wear is insane. Nicely done motorola.

I like the X. Wish they expanded MotoMaker to outside of the US. No real reason to get the phone without it.
