Whatever happened to that leaker that was supposed to post comparison videos of the Moto X+1 sans the plastic bag?

If these leaked specs are true then I'm all over it. Got the Moto X a few months back and love it except for the camera and the screen size. While some find the size perfect, I want something just a *little* bigger. I started looking at the LG G3 but I just can't give up the active notifications and always-on google now :) Looking forward to this for sure.

Agreed about the camera. It'd be my daily driver if the camera was better. For now, it's just a really nice Android work phone. But the Moto X+1 can change that.

I'm sort of on the fence about the 5.2" screen. I'm not necessarily against a larger screen, but I am hoping Motorola will keep the form factor as small as possible. Time will tell.

The last factor, for me, is the unlocked price. Wonder if they'll price point it along with other flagship prices like they did last year.

I'm also really curious what they'll do with the software. Is there an official name to Motorola's "skin"? In particular, wondering what they'll do about lock screen notifications now that Android L has made it standard.

A 5.2" screen would be a mistake, in my opinion.

Because of the lack of physical home button, it'd probably be slightly smaller than a Galaxy S5. Perhaps closer to the size of a Galaxy S4.

Indeed a big change (pun!) from the Moto X's form factor...

Here's the GS4 compared to the MX:

I've got an S4 and that's the uppermost limit I believe mass market devices are comfortable rocking.

That's why Apple will go 4.7" and that's why I think Motorola pretty much nailed it.

I could understand if LG did 5" with there miniscule bezels but otherwise this race to increase the size is getting counterproductive and opening up the market for Apple, methinks.

Yeah I agree to some extent. I don't mind phones getting larger, but they shouldn't ignore the segment of the market that wants to keep it smaller. Why can't smaller devices also have high end specs, ala the Xperia Z2 Mini?

However, at the same time, I understand that's where the market seems to be heading, and companies have to address that if they want to stay in the game.

Even Apple is predicted to give a 5.5" device that has [again, rumored] better specs than the predicted 4.7". I think they said only the 5.5" might have sapphire glass or OIS and larger storage options.

I'm not terribly put off by a 5.2" Moto X successor, but not particularly thrilled about it either. I understand that's the trend and direction the market is going. I also hope given the Moto X design, the device will be easier to palm too. The Moto X is lovely to hold, and it's not only because it's a 4.7" screen. The curvature and thinning at the bottom of the device really helps too.

The rumourmill is that it will ship with kitkat, so the active notifications will still be there.

Interesting.

Then I wonder what will happen when they update to Android L. Motorola has been really good about keeping the Moto X/G phones up to date with software. In the most recent case, I believe they got it mere days after Nexus devices were getting updates.

August 10 was when the X was announced last year I think, so my bet would be same date for X+1 announcement and release at the end of the month along the 360.

All some of these manufacturers are doing with no news is letting people get tired of waiting and going with something else instead. :)

battery size and sd card would be pleasant surprises :)

gogo moto

where is the speaker? at the bottom? then where is the mic?

Maybe part of the speaker? Like, 80% speaker, 20% mic? Or is that terrible engineering? The listening would be hearing themselves if you took a call on speaker phone.

Don't know...

Those specs plus stock Android would be awesome.

I'm really excited for this device.

I hope it's widely available at the end of August.

I've read that the speakers are on the front of the device. You can see them on the pictures (if indeed those are the speakers).

Anyone with experience with the current Moto X can comment on it's GPS performance and cell reception?

My G2 had terrible GPS and cell reception.
