Starlight looks like silver to me although it looks slightly pink sometimes.
Naaah it reminds me of the old magnolia we used to paint our houses with, basically the nicotine stained look šŸ˜‚ you cant beat the clean and classic silver finish, itā€™s just odd because on the mid tier iPads starlight has replaced silver, but hasnā€™t on the lower end or high endā€¦ on the iPhones they have done the same, but on the mac line up they have the silver option across the boardā€¦ weirdā€¦

I recently bought this for my Mini. It's not cheap, but it's actually pretty awesome:

I can afford this only.

Thanks for the support! The very video you refer to illustrates well how minor this is and how every 60 hz lcd display will show this in slow motion. Naturally if you only use your device while watching playback in slow motion it will be a problem. In case you missed it that was the point of the video. The person that posted this agrees with me.

ā€œIn normal usage you barely see it, but every now and then it become noticeable. In landscape it goes away entirelyā€

This appears at no greater a degree than any other 60 hz refresh lcd panel.
Nah. The iPad Mini 6 is the worst ever device to exhibit jelly scrolling. I notice it when scrolling slowly down this forum at reading pace. The text slants down when scrolling down and slants up whilst scrolling up. Itā€™s a dreadful experience.

Great! I think your statement speaks volumes about the topic.

Carry on and have a wonderful day!

Well, the phenomenon commonly referred to as "jelly scrolling" is definitely real, but the question is "is it a big deal?" I think most people vote "no" to that. But there are some people on this forum for which even the most minute detail gets hyped to DEFCON 1 level in their mind and becomes a deal-breaker for them. "The left bezel on my iPad is thinner than the right side by 1 micron. OMG...should I return this? I should have perfection at this price! Shame on Apple!" šŸ˜‚

I've said before that the loose buttons on my iPad are a bigger deal breaker than jelly scroll. However, both are ludicrous issues for a supposedly premium brand tablet to suffer from. I'm not sure why you guys can't see jelly scroll. It's terrible.

I never said I couldn't see jelly scrolling. I simply said I don't think it's a big deal.

I agree with you, it was the main reason I never bought a Series 7 Apple Watch - it did not come in Silver, only Starlight.
But color is a personal preference - thank goodness, else everyone would have the same color.

I spend my days searching for solutions rather than problems. No products are perfect. In this case the vast majority of users donā€™t have and are not affected by the screen or ā€œlooseā€ buttons. So what do you expect? I use my Mini daily for hours and have neither of the issues. Iā€™m a very satisfied customer. Iā€™m a very critical customer as well. I have decades of experience with advanced information technology. I can find subtle problems that escape the notice of many, I got paid a lot of money to do that. I have yet to encounter a flawless piece of equipment. The only question in the end is does a tool perform acceptably for the majority of users? The Mini does. For those that find it unacceptable you can avail yourself of other options.

1. Take your device to Apple and get it serviced.

2. Sell your device to someone who isnā€™t bothered by the issues you perceive and buy something else that meets your exacting standards.

But trying to suggest people who are satisfied and like the Mini are somehow dishonest or impaired is pretty unproductive and rude.

The advice for those considering the Mini 6 is to try it out yourself, and make wise use of the 14-day return period.
If you hate it and neglect to return it in 14 days, then your only options will be: a) sell it, or b) come here and rant.

I have wanted an iPad Mini for some time. It seemed the perfect form factor for reading in bed, one of my favorite uses of an iPad. But I didn't buy one, because I made the mistake of listening to the folks in this forum complaining bitterly about the dreaded Jelly Scroll problem, or loudly proclaiming that they would never buy a Mini until Apple came to its senses and corrected it. What finally got me was a 20% off sale on Amazon, but even then I was dubious and ready to send it back.

Jelly Scrollers, I have no idea what the heck you're talking about. I read in portrait orientation, scrolling back and forth. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the screen. It functions perfectly, as does the rest of the 6th generation iPad Mini. I'm delighted I bought it, and only wish I'd done so earlier.

Moral of the story: don't take the word of random people commenting in the MacRumors forum, including me. Check it out for yourself.

I followed the process that was supposed to prove to me that the Mini was a defective hot mess, and I couldn't get it to do it. I just couldn't get it to jelly. I gave up, and continue to love my 'defective' iPad Mini.

I mean, we have no way to see what he sees. Technology just not there. So I wouldnt just assume heā€˜s blind outright. Maybe he just mentally checks out Jelly just like many claim notch means nothing to them.
Yeah. The Dynamic Island/notch is a good example.

OP uses the word ā€œmythā€ which delegitimises their claim, should have replaced ā€œmythā€ with ā€œpersonal experienceā€ which would be more accurate.

Moral of the story is that either OP is scrolling really slowly while reading which would minimise the jelly-scrolling effect, either has poor eyesight due to age or otherwise or simply is suffering from cognitive acceptance to justify the purchase.

Even Apple confirmed it placed the particular component in the opposite direction compared to prior iPad miniā€™s and itā€™s proven by the experiment you listed and by personal observation.

Listen I liked everything about the mini 6 and purchased it Day 01, but the moment I observed it, what a deal breaker for me I had to return it. Got the 11ā€ iPad Pro and no regrets but really liked the compact size of the mini 6. Oh well mini 7 hopefully it corrects this along with ProMotion; mini Pro anyone.
The myth is that it is a big deal worth worrying about. Yes it is there, but it is a minor nothingness of a problem.

I suppose app and browser tab reloading due to a paltry 4GB of RAM is a minor nothingness too?

My girlfriendā€™s FOUR YEAR OLD Huawei 8ā€ tablet doesnā€™t exhibit jelly scroll in either portrait or landscape, doesnā€™t have any keyboard lag and it doesnā€™t have any loose buttons. My iPad Mini has all of those faults and cost three times as much.

So why have you kept it if you dislike it so?

Come to think about it, why all of a sudden iPad mini 6 jelly blows up if LED/LCD all have jelly effects built-in by design? Aren't those panels work more or less the same fundamentally? I don't need high speed camera to see the jelly effect between iPad mini 6 and iPad Pro 12.9". Them using camera with such high fps probably because they just want to highlight it on video better than normal, cause guess what, you need an LCD/LED to see what camera sensor see.

Is it so hard to admit Apple cheaps out panels on iPad mini 6 compared to other devices (even iPad 10 for that matter, cause I don't see an obvious jelly on them on both orientations)?

Yourā€™re not making a good case here. It simply isnā€™t a problem. Check Mini sales numbers and get back to us.
