hey guys I just recently bought an HTC One and its being shipped to me right now and was wondering are there any quirks about the phone or little annoyances? I just want to be prepared in case i don't like something about it. I so far like the device and I am glad I got it.

Why not just try it without any preconceived issues? Your own expectations of a smartphone and experience using it should be plenty to decide if it's the right device for you.

Anyone managed to get the Google keyboard to work on the HTC one after the 4.2.2 update?

After installing it's not selectable in settings for me. Looking at the reviews on Google play I'm not the only one. Wondered if anyone had a work around.

Some folks who are converting to GE edition are reporting that they have to set their CID to SuperCID or GOOGL001 in order to use google keyboard....

I'm on SuperCID but stock sense, so I'll try it and let you know...

If this is true, Samsung once again trumping HTC:

Rumor: Android 4.3 coming to Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, not Android 4.2.2

http://www.androidauthority.com/rumor-android-4-3-galaxy-s3-galaxy-note-2-not-android-4-2-2-244338/

HTC's update department, or whatever they're called, need to seriously get their butts into gear. Seriously. Ser-ree-us-lee!

The important bit

We will remind you that this is just a rumor at this point, so don’t get too excited about it at this time, as we can’t confirm the news just yet

Thanks for that.

I'm completely stock at the moment. Though probably wont be by the end of the day.

Thus why I said "if this is true..."

Regardless HTC's update department needs to work faster. They're already behind.

I don't understand why any of the android manufactures roll out updates in the manner that they do. Why they all can't just go down the Apple or Google Nexus root. It's one of the biggest problems in general with Android software rollouts, and why 'eventually' I may be tempted to convert my One into a GE.

Got my Black 32 Gig One Yesterday. AT&T Edition. I love it! Had an original Silver One for a day; however it had build quality issues and was returned. Over the past month since returning it I've had so many back and forth moments between keeping my iPhone 5 or ordering a black One, so many hours of research, all for not. This phone is what I've been waiting for. The iPhone 5 is going on craigslist as soon as I make sure my transition from iMessage to texting is complete.

Now I will say I haven't gotten to test the camera yet; however, I do not really require a great camera.

My setup is Rooted, S-off unlocked bootloader (removed tampered), Android Revolution 12.1 with MoDaCo Toolkit, Nova Prime Launcher and Minimal UI Icon Pack. PERFECT SET-UP. It's fast, stable, good battery life, and still has the nice features of sense built in.

All in all, I think this may be the first phone that I will be content keeping for a year or two. I had forgotten everything that Android can just do, that "just works" that you have to jump through hoops on the iPhone for. Just wanted to toss in my 2 cents to anyone else still on the fence over this great phone.

I have found myself completely smitten with the One since I decided to give it another try last week. This device just SCREAMS class unlike any other Android device. And surprisingly I'm getting similar battery life to my Note 2. I miss the giant display of the Note a bit, but the design, audio quality/speakers, front camera, and speed of the One are really out of this world.

The One doesn't not last over a day with heavy usage, like a GN2 does.

I said similar, not the same. The Note 2 is still the king of the hill when it comes to the battery, but the One isn't nearly as bad as I remember in regards to the battery.

Yeah I get great battery life on mine, and since 4.2.2 its improved more so. Before on a mid usage day I'd end the day with around 50% battery left, since 4.2.2 and no other changes to my usage its up at nearly 65-70%....

If I enable Googe Now I lose about 10-15% more battery on either scenario (4.1.2 & 4.2.2) as it sends out my location and stuff to Google during the day, but to be honest I haven't found any real use for Google Now and I don't need t telling me the weather as Sense Weather is there anyway.

As long as whatever device I get in the future has similar battery life I'm content. I just need whatever device I'm using to last the course of a day, and the One (and the S4 before it) both have done comfortably.

But remember no LTE here folks :) heck decent 3G can be patchy enough :)

Enjoy :)

Out of interest why did you get a tampered message anyway? Did you unlock bootloader through HTCDev or via a different toolkit?

I unlocked via HTC Dev, then used Revone to gain S-Off but at no stage have I got a tampered message. Just wondering what causes it...

Yea :(

My HTC One is on T-Mobile's network and I'm in an LTE market but noticed that I only ever have one bar of LTE. If I turn off LTE and just use the HSPA network w/ full bars will that help save my battery life? Or won't it matter?

3300 mAh vs 2300 mAh... no kidding!

If your HSPA signal is much stronger, yes, it will improve battery life.

I used this toolkit off xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2242635 to get unlocked s on and that caused the tampered to show up and then I used Revone to make it go away.

Hey guys is T-mobile normally slow on releasing updates? I'm still at 4.1.2 or is this the highest version right now? Otherwise I am really loving this phone, my favorite about it is that it has front facing speakers. I really wonder why other phone makers haven't done this. Samsung's speakers in the back infuriate me and the iPhone 5's speakers aren't bad but it would be such an improvement.

4.2.2 is the newest version it is still rolling out. sadly it rolls out from East to West so America is still to push out the update, but it should be soon :)

One interesting point for me, although I am not based in the UK, is that apparently the carrier-branded HTC Ones there are receiving the update around the same time as those who purchased their unlocked phones there outright.

This gives some hope that, at least with some carrier-locked owners in North America, they may too receive the update relatively close to those who bought the Developer Edition or bought their phone unlocked.

Yes this is true and surprised me as well.
The carriers are pushing only a day or so after the unbranded and unlocked.

Hopefully you get the update soon now :) I was too impatient to wait myself, but the 4.2.2 is a good update for the extra sense bits and pieces.

The only thing I actually don't like in 4.2.2 is the fact the dock is treated like a home screen once more, rather than as part of your app drawer. Personally I preferred it as was, and liked the fact apps were not duplicated in my app drawer.

I got 4.2.2 today on Vodafone UK, and it seems a bit snappier (It was in no way slow before).

I've also got a weird new app which allows me to conduct a google search from within almost any app. It looks like a Vodafone bundled app, so if I don't see a use for it, I'll get rid of it.

The notification screen options are fantastic. I've not had a chance to use the camera to see any improvements yet, and the battery lasts me all day anyway so I doubt I'll be impacted by the changes.

Overall: It's nice. Nothing essential, so if you haven't got it yet, there's no need to get your panties in a twist.

Seeing as the GE HTC One has also been spotted in logs etc.. with 4.3 too I'm sure they will roll out the 4.3 update at same time. I'm sure Google is putting both companies under pressure as having one linger behind would be as bad for google as it would be for either manufacturer.

Exactly. Just because there have been no leaks doesn't mean HTC aren't ready.
