HTC's commercial with Robert Downey Jr. sucks. Sucks big time.

This is not going to help them. And they spent how much on this??

http://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-Heres-The-Commercial-with-Robert-Downey-Jr._id46399

There are already people in the comments section saying "Has Terrible Commercials," "Has Terrible Camera," "Help The Company," etc. This campaign is a stinker.

It was an ok commercial. Not as good as I thought it would be.

I'm hearing rumors of an HTC One refreash coming out around the holidays... You may want to consider that...

Got a source for those rumors?

This was pulling up along side the new iPhone as one of my top choices, but you all have me scared. I don't want to have a device that is orphaned in a year and loses all it's resale value. :(

So guys having owned the phone for more than 3 months, what has ur experience been with regards to smoothness(as compared to day one), battery life and app compatibility. Im having a hard time deciding b/w this and S4, but wud rather not prefer plastic.

This app has got to be shared for all HTC One owners.

Imagine swiping/gesturing up from your blank "HTC" home logo to go home. This is the closest thing to the iOS Jailbreak app Zephyr I've ever seen (and in some ways, even better).

7 day trial, 99 cents after.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matthewma.swipehomebuttonfree&hl=en

How to get rid of the settings notiication from your notification pull down:

Long press on the notification in your notification pull down > go to APP INFO > uncheck "Show in Notification Bar" or something like that. DONE.

Credit and a big kudos to member GreenTwo for finding this app!

----------

I have it set so that swipe up is Home, swipe right is Recent apps, swipe left is notification pull down. Don't need anything else.

IT ROCKS.

I just bought the app to get access to custom gestures and installed the free app "screen off and lock" to tie it to the gesture "up and down".

So now I can sleep my One with a gesture of up and down from the blank HTC logo. Amazing

Good Stuff !!!!

If they could get it to wake the device when locked with a swipe up like on a Blackbery z10 that would rock.

Don't think that's possible with this app. And I can live with that.

But I agree with you. Maybe the One 2014.

This app seriously rocks particularly with the One. Makes HTC's mistake of the "HTC" logo more forgiving.

I still think 4.2.2 isn't coming until or around when the Verizon one is released (Aug 29th)

Did you see the picture I posted from my facebook conversation with HTC one or two pages back. HTC is acting like they don't know how, if or when 4.2.2 will be released.

I did see that.

It sucks. Their lack of communication is definitely not instilling any confidence that they know what they're doing.

to be fair, i don't think samsung is much better. the galaxy s4 shipped with 4.2; how long will it take that handset to get 4.3? further, the galaxy s3 is still stuck on 4.1 in the united states. rumors are that it'll skip 4.2 entirely and jump straight to 4.3, which i find to be a ridiculous excuse. shouldn't samsung have been working on bringing 4.2 to the s3 in all that time?

1. Samsung, like most companies aren't focusing on last year's model. The S3 s now well over a year old. It's one thing for the last years flasgship device to be lagging behind. But for HTC to be sitting on it's hands with the One on 4.1 that is something completely different and downright shameful.

you're missing the point. much of the s3's life as the flagship model was spent while 4.2 was out. where was the update? it was and continues to be mia while samsung "sits on its hands" like htc is doing now. it doesn't bode well for the s4 and android 4.3 or 5.0. granted, 4.2 came out after the s3's release where htc launched the one with 4.1 when 4.2 was already out for months, but it doesn't excuse the fact that the galaxy s3 is still stuck on old software.

The irony of this statement is that HTC has started rolling out 4.2.2 to the HTC One X+, their flagship from last year.

Exactly. The fact is that short of Google putting out updates for the Nexus devices, ALL of the third party manufacturers are crap at putting out timely updates. Yes, HTC is has f%&$ed up the rollout of 4.2.2 to the HTC One, but as pointed out, Samsung isn't doing any better with last year's flagship and to act like they're on top of their updates with all of their devices is simply naive. Apple is deficient at a great many things with their devices but timely updates to everyone simultaneously isn't one of them.

Not the same thing at all......HTC One is the ONLY flagship phone HTC has. They are in dire financial straights and losing market share. Meanwhile Samsung released the Galaxy S4 with he CURRENT version of Android.
Two flagship phones from 2 different companies both released this year.
Who cares what Samsung did with the S3......HTC has had its share of not supporting past flagships phones as well like the HTC One x only 14 months old with no updates.

I'm in the mercy of the U.S. carriers. My One was unlocked sending a request to AT&T but it sucks that alot of us are left in the dark. At least S4 is on 4.2.2 to begin while One is on over a year old Android. Seems to me Sony is doing a better job at updates since Timescape is much closer to stock than TouchWiz and Sense.

I really want 4.2.2 soon as I want the recharging time to be reduced to the typical 2.5 hours instead of the dreaded 4 hrs. Looks like One owners wont get to test 4.3's Project Road Runner this year which should improve standby time. If we ever, Key Lime Pie should be out. Sacrifice we pay for liking the HTC proprietary software.
