Curious about battery life on lte.

Well if

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4_vs_htc_one-review-913.php

is anything to go by, then the s4 & HTC one are pretty even battery wise so I assume the same will apply for LTE as they use the same chipset.

----

I'm more concerned about the camera in low light given that review of the ONE & S4.

I love the aesthetics of the one & I love sense UI and Zoe features. Everything on the phone (software wise) is better for me than Galaxy S4 (as I just don't get on with touchwiz and I'll never use any of the swipey gesture features, chaton or other stuff) but the camera is something I like to use quite a bit on my phone and is important to me......

Now with the HTC delays - I'm debating what to do myself ?

IF the HTC is delayed beyond beginning of next week, I will cancel and wait for the GS4... But trying to weigh up pros and cons is tough, I'm in two minds at the moment completely.

Have you contacted ExpansysUK buddy?

I've rang them this morning, my online order tracking says "expected 3 days" and so does their online store.

Spoke to their customer service team and they've said I'm not on the first preorder list, therefore could be 2-3 weeks further delay.

How frustrating.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll do that now myself and update you too.

Edit... Just rang bud. I'm actually on the first pre-order list so it's still expected to ship Tuesday for delivery Wednesday next week. Though I'm skeptical until I get shipping notice and it turns up tbh. I'm gearing myself up for them to announce another delay before the weekend is out.....

I hope to see a review from when once you get and have used it for a little.

The gsm arena rates the s4 battery as better. I don't know how you read them as the same

Yeah but in my opnion their logic is flawed as it heavily weighs standby time. In actual usage tests, the HTC matches or exceeds the GS4. So unless you need a phone to be able to last longer in standby (moot if you charge nightly as most people do), I'd call it even or actually give the advantage to the One considering its superior performance during the web browsing test.

Most reviews (except The Verge) say the battery life is actually decent. As for the power button...meh. Doesn't bother me. Camera performance is same old story from every OEM out there except Apple, the 808 PureView, and N8. Over-processed images galore.

If i was in the market for an Android Flagship i'd definitely be getting the HTC One. I'd get the N4 for stock Android but the CPU/GPU throttling, battery life, LTE absence, and horribly calibrated screen are huge turnoffs.

No Sammie for me because personally because i can't stand TouchWiz plus i don't want to revert to dealing with a plastic shell which i waved bye to when the iPhone 4 launched. Its either Unibody-Polycarbonate, Aluminium or Glass for me. Hyper-glazed plastic is simply a no no...regardless of how modular.

Can you please tell me more about the CPU/GPU throttling on the N4? I've never heard of it but was always curious as to why it scored so low compared to other phones with identical specs.

LTE isn't the battery drainer it once was....Qualcomms latest radios do a bang-up job managing the battery life.

I don't think it'll be a huge issue.

I hope that's the case, but given HTC's history with batteries, it won't hurt to just hold out and know for sure.

WHAT A SHAMBLES HTC!!!!

So it now appears HTC are forcing Expansys to fulfil orders from the HTC site first regardless of when they were placed !!! so if someone placed an order last night on HTC's site - they jump ahead of folks who pre-ordered nearly two months ago. How annoying is that and a kick to your customers ?

They have just 200 phones (silver) coming in today.

Basically they have to fulfill those HTC site orders first and 'then' if there is any left over they will allocate them on a first come first serve basis.

I'm actually number 9 on the list of pre-orders as I pre-ordered back on the 19th February. Basically he told me there is a good chance as I'm high up it should be ok, but if I don't get a shipping notification by Tuesday it will be the 18th-22nd !!!!

If I don't get shipping notification by Tuesday - I'm cancelling my order.

Ya - I'm in the enviable spot of not being eligible for upgrade until September. Meaning the decision to wait and see is already made for me! ;)

My thinking is, if I can make the N4 work (which since 4.2.2 and some tweaking on stock, really has made a massive difference), I'm sure the One will be fine.

The battery tests depict minor differences in actual usage (talking/videos/browsing etc). The biggest difference is standby which should be obvious, i would expect a 300mah bigger battery to perform better in standby.

Overall, it seems the verge only has had issues.

To be honest, unless anandtech reveals their objective tests in a few weeks, we cannot say much. I almost always base my decisions on their great reviews and they seem to hold up solid. They also tend to brush off their personal opinions and instead go for simple objective testing and present the findings. A more "scientific" way i would say.

Indeed. That's what everyone is waiting for.

Ok update...

I still don't know what the story is with Expansys. I've lost faith in them completely.

Vodafone Ireland have the unsubsidised model available for order for €579.99 with free shipping (compared to €632 including shipping for my pre-order with expansys).

Decided to cancel my order with expansys and get it from Ireland instead.

Not to mention that they were effectively telling you that they had yours in stock a couple of weeks or so ago.

Poor show Expansys!

Yep. Exactly.... Well expansys you just lost a sale. i'll save €50 anyway.

Expansys (USA) were really terribly rude and unhelpful to me when I ordered from them once. I'll never order from them again. Not surprised people are running into issues with them. At all.

Wow man, that's terrible. Hope you get it soon :)
