I regret not paying extra for overnight or 2 day shipping. Can't wait for the One.

Can't stand the iPhone much longer. Can't wait to be free again.

Are you sure you didn't get overnight shipping for free? I didn't pay for it either but my invoice shows free overnight shipping.

SNAP. You're right.

If it really plays out that way, HTC, you are winning me over one deal at a time. Heck ya.

I'm still a little worried about the whole "Back order" and shifting shipping dates.

----------

I fear my opinion of the One will be very similar to DroidLife's review that they just posted: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/04/17/htc-one-review/

Couch stop looking for/reading every single review  you will have the phone in your hands soon.

Really trying to decide between this and the iPhone 5. The fact that the iPhone 5 has been out for so long just eats at me; but I know that's my inner tech geek talking. I'd be perfectly happy with the 5 whereas this would be a gamble.

The famous question: What would you guys do? ;)

And no, waiting isn't an option. I'm getting on my Dad's family plan and will be going away for a while after that.

+ I'm probably technically savvy enough to root to a clean Android install, if that's recommended. Does everything work fine and smooth with that?

I don't think that's what he meant at all. I believe he was stating that if the outside is going to look finely jeweled, like the HTC One, they would want the inside to look the same way - even if most people will never see it.

Geez, the level of automatic Apple bashing is beyond ridiculous lately. And I'm an Android user as well (VZW GS3 running LiquidSmooth).

Spin it how you want, but it clearly states in the post that the rest is all turd, and apple is the only one which is not.

No, for me each icon launches immediately and I too have set the bottom one to home and as soon as I press i'm taken to home instantaneously, there is no delay what so ever for me.

Edit.. Never mind..

Homer Simpson Moment !!!!!!

DOH!!! I think I have mixed up sidebar with swipepad. ?? :( sorry bud.. Yeah it's sidebar I use not swipe pad.

I'll install swipepad and see what it's like. Quite possibly its not optimised for the One. I'll install now..

Edit 2.....

Well I've installed Swipepad, I've assigned apps and home button to the default pad in settings and made the area more sensitive / bigger, but I can't even get that ring thing to show or activate. I rebooted to see if that helps but nothing. The app is just not working for me at all.

It can't be a device fault it's clearly something wrong with the software, maybe it doesn't work with 1080p screens ? Either way it doesn't work for me.

Try Sidebar, like I say I know that works perfectly and you can assign just as much stuff to it.

You didn't tell me Sidebar is $1.99 for the full version! The free version is extremely limited.

$2 bucks. Ouch. :( SwipePad is very functional for free. I hope they optimize it for Sense or whatever it is that they need to do to get it better...

How did you get overnight shipping for free? Did you order with 2-yr contract? No overnight free for unlock, I had to talk to CS to get free 2-day shipping not overnight. My order status is still showing backordered.

I didn't ask for overnight either, but if you click your actual order number on the status page (it should be an underlined link), it'll bring you to a receipt page, and for whatever reason, it says overnight there.

I'm skeptical it actually is overnight. I'm also concerned about the "Backordered" status, too, despite saying it'll ship 4/18.

HTC... don't pull a Nexus 4 Google Play launch debacle, please. You can ill afford it, and I cannot wait to free myself of iOS. :(

----------

I realize today is 4/18. So in theory, it's supposed to ship today from HTC.

And overnighted, again, in theory.

So I should have my device by tomorrow, if not Saturday?

IN THEORY.

Lucky! Mine is showing 2-day not overnight and only because I asked for it. If they ship it today you could possibly get it tomorrow, you don't know how late UPS pick up packages last minute. UPS delivers only on Saturday if Letstalk pay extra. Looks like I won't get mine until next week.

The HTC status page isn't loading. The browser times out.

Oh, HTC... :T

Well, it's back up. No change. No ship info or anything. Estimated availability is 4/18. Today is 4/18. Everything still looks like pre-order status on their website. Are they sleeping?

never trust HTC, you guys. It's a beautiful looking device, but Sense is garbage and it's HTC. Have a fun time spending hours just to unlock the bootloader and root it.

If I was going back to android, it'd be with the Note 3, Nexus 4, or the Galaxy S4 (but probably the Nexus 4 because it's gorgeous and stock android)

I'm hearing from Xda forum letstalk received some phones but they are for Sprint. It doesn't look good.

Don't need stock Android when Touchwiz is already better. The features they have in Touchwiz far exceeds anything KLP will add. Quite frankly, I can see why Samsung is moving away from Google.

touchwiz is certainly better than Sense, but it's still ugly.

I'm not sure about the features it provides, but I'd still root the s4 and put on whatever good stock android rom that comes out. I just like the look too much.

Hmm, I've never experienced this on Droid X, Razr Maxx, Samsung Stratosphere, or Razr M. Stays default as soon as I set it.

Well Swiftkey themselves admitted to the issue

You can unlock the bootloader on htcdev.com and there is a one click rooter available on XDA.

Sense is not garbage, and you clearly haven't used the latest incarnation which is excellent.

If your intent is to troll a HTC thread, you are doing a good job, please move along as we don't like feeding trolls here:rolleyes:

You've just spent $649 on a phone..... and your complaining about $1.99

Typical :rolleyes::p

If you didn't buy a new phone every 30 days you'd be able to afford the $1.99 for the app :D;)

then that's a massive improvement on prior HTC devices. Unlocking the boot loader is still a long, tedious process. The last HTC phone I had (EVO 3D) had to be turned "S-OFF" which required pressing a metal wire to parts on the back. S-OFF allowed for the best roms to be flashed to the device.

My intent isn't to troll. Sense has a lot of detractors. Read the review of the device posted previously in the thread.

My point is I wouldn't trust HTC with their history. I'd prefer a Nexus 4 because I know that will get updated first. The One isn't even shipping with 4.2.2.

The One isn't even shipping with 4.2.2.

4.2.2 isn't dramatically different to 4.1.2 once you have applied a manufacturers skin.

And read the reviews of the HTC One, Sense 5 gets very positive reviews because of the enhancements it offers over stock android, whilst remaining surprisingly bloat free and insanely fast and responsive.

You shouldn't slag something new off based on older experience which has no relevance to the new device. Healthy skeptiscm is fair enough, but to make sweeping statements like 'sense' is crap is fallacious statement when Sense 5 is nothing like any other version of sense before it and should be experienced before categorically dismissing it.

I doubt it has no relevance, but hey, continue being a content cop.

Ha, you got me there. To be fair, it's $549 after I send in my old Blackberry. ;)

Also, considering I got my money back in full for the Nexus 4 and considering I'll be getting my refund back in full for the iPhone 5, I guess $2 bucks is acceptable.

Now... if HTC will just get the device in my hands...

My point is I wouldn't trust HTC with their history.

Everyone (especially past HTC owners) has every right to be wary of HTC. There is no denying that.

HTC will have to prove themselves this year with updates, with their customer service, with their delivery of products, and more.

Time will tell. I don't blame anyone for not giving HTC the benefit of the doubt.

If it wasn't for their insane value for the 64GB unlocked developer's edition ($550 after the blackberry-rebate! No tax, free shipping, no restocking fee if I should change my mind!) I don't think I would have gotten it either.
