I just got mine today; as someone who has always had an iPhone it's definitely a big change. Android is a lot more complicated but also has a lot more options...and I like some parts of it; whereas I wish others were simpler.

I /LOVE/ the bigger screen and (most of the time...) speakers on this phone, the screen especially is crisp and clear.

Wish I could say the same about the audio though. The speakers, while loud and clear most of the time...crackle! They actually crackle, noticeably, under any type of music and a lot of youtube videos. Oddly enough, I haven't noticed it when watching stuff on Netflix, Hulu, HBO etc.

Any way. I'm definitely going to be going in for an exchange...does anyone know if I should have a problem exchanging in another state? We have a business account if that matters.

If the problem persists I may look into the GS4 or just go back to an iPhone 5.

Anyone else having this problem?

It isn't me complicated, you're just used to dealing with the iOS way of doing things. It's actually simpler. I had the same issue when I made the switch.

Just got my shipping confirmation email for my 64GB Dev edition, will check tracking number later to verify ETA.

Xda guys who have both att version dev version mention dev version is better built quality. Some att models have gaps. I'd really hate to do exchange with letstalk.

New review: http://phandroid.com/2013/04/19/htc-one-review/#hardware

Build quality issues (gaps, glass screen not flush with metal parts, etc.) seem to be popping up more and more with the HTC One.

Hm... troubling.

Stop activly looking for negatives ;) there is always another side to a story or angle to look at, for example despite the issues he still gave it a glowing review, and I'm sure he'll be able to get a replacement handset without the problem he had.

Positives

Best display on the market — hands down
BoomSound stereo front facing speakers
4MP UltraPixel camera takes superior low-light pictures
Great battery life
Premium aluminum build quality
Sense 5 UX is revamped and kicky fast

Negatives

Inconsistent build quality in our review model
Sense 5 homescreen, gallery, and Zoe Share are not user friendly
Inconsistent camera software (HDR specifically)
2-button layout and lack of remapping option (menu bar)
Overall rating: 4.5 out of 5

Of his negatives, most are addressable (rectifiable)

Build quality - issue can be rectified by getting a replacement handset

Sense 5 home screen, gallery, Zoe Share not user friendly - this is where just checking out youtube before you get the device works wonders.

Inconsistent camera software (HDR specifically) - agreed the HDR is definetly inconsistent, and likewise the auto-fix option in edit after you have taken the photo. But these are software issues than can be rectified with software updates

2-button layout and lack of remapping option (menu button) - yes this should be there as it is even mentioned in the instruction manual, should be re-instated in a software update.

Did you request Saturday delivery? My order is still in picking, probably picking their nose instead of shipping all the pending orders.

Nope but did order mine early afternoon on first day of availability, if my place in line makes any difference. Also, when I checked earlier this morning my order showed estimated shipping date of 4/22. Basically my advice based on this experience is ignore any dates LetsTalk provides and assuming nothing is correct until you have an actual shipping tracking number.

Mine says "picking" also. Probably picking another hole not their nose. .... or ears.

?

I'm not looking for anything. That's just the part of the review that I find troubling. I haven't changed my order or anything. You know, that's what reviews are for, right? To inform. Take it easy, chief.

Just handled this phone at AT&T for the first time. Reminds me a lot of the iPhone 5. It's hard to tell what it feels like in your hand when you have a huge security sensor on the back.

Home button in the lower right felt extremely awkward. Perhaps less so without the sensor on the back. But it was terrible in my experience.

Thankfully you can disable the stupid menu bar that comes default on the browser. I can't see a difference between the sharpness in anything browser/text wise when you compare the One screen and my iPhone 5. Perhaps it can be seen more-so when looking at photos and videos.

I also don't like the power button and volume rocker. Way too recessed into the device.

The One is a much more impressive device compared to the One X. I hope it saves HTC. I'm excited to demo the S4 too.

The HTC First is also pretty nice.

I just received a tracking number for my 32G unlock from LetsTalk the funny thing is for the past 3 days I could not even get an order status from Letstalk so yesterday when I received an email from T-Mobile about their HTC One I ordered it with them and today before I could cancel the Letstalk order I received 2 emails from both places for Monday delivery so on Monday I'll have 2 HTC one's. One has to go back but which one? I have business account with AT&T and personal family plan with T-Mobile. Well guys and gals I'll need your suggestions.

Damn it how come they haven't ship mine yet and I ordered on 4/5 first day preorder.

Same here. Did you order it toward the end of the day? I ordered mine at like 6PM-ish so I was on the "late" side of 4/5.

I don't expect to see it shipped until Monday, as it says in my status, which is fine if it holds true, since they gave me free overnight anyway. I had originally chosen the longest shipping time to save money (I think it was 5-7 days) so it all works out. Just please stay true to your own words, HTC. If you say it's shipping Monday 4/22, you should.

What would the alternative device be on the account without the HTC One?

All things being equal, I'd alway go for the unlocked/bloatware free device. Unless you had to use the unlocked version on T-Mobile (no HSPA+ on TMob), I don't see any advantage to using the T-Mobile version over the unlocked.

I ordered around noon on 4/5. Some guys who ordered much later than us got shipping notices today already. They better not screw up our orders.

Poor QC (gapgate), odd design choices (like the button layout, volume rocker, and sleep wake buttons), seems like a cheap phone to me. The software looks good, besides some of the quirks of Sense.

I'll pass on this dud. Got the GS4 in my sights.

Cheap phone? plastic on GS4 is more premium?

I'll be using it on T-Mobile network so I guess unlock version will have to back.

BTW I ordered mine on 04/05 afternoon like most of MR members here.

Oh boy! Lots of people from xda complaining about dead pixels issue with the phone. Not just one but a few pixels. Thread started on 4/8 so those phones are not the dev edition but still makes me nervous. Ugh! Why can't manufacturer test these things before shipping then out. I wonder MRU has seen pixel stuck on his.

Picked up my HTC One on Friday. No build quality issues whatsoever, beautiful phone, the screen is excellent, better than any other OLED Android phones I've owned so far.

I need more time with it before I can make a fair review. The big screen is nice compared to my iPhone5 but I'm not sure (for me) the trade-off is worth it when the HTC phone is so large. Yet I realize you can't get a 5 inch screen in a 4 inch sized phone :)

The trick for me to use any Android phone as my main phone is to master an Android keyboard. I have big hands but somehow I am so incredibly fast typing on the iPhone either with one thumb in one hand or using both thumbs. I attribute that to having a tremendous amount of practice, however I have been trying hard to type as fast on numerous Android phones and keyboards and no luck so far.

I am not a fan of Swiftkey type keyboards or Flow keyboards. Yes they work and get the job done but I can't go as fast with them as I can on the iPhone. I know many people complain about auto correct and Siri but I just don't experience these problems on the iPhone side of things where as with the Android keyboards I've tried I can't get my speed up. It's very important to me because a large part of my phone use is replying to and composing emails.

However, I do have great success with Google voice dictation.

I've switched this HTC One to my main line and put my iPhone over to my second line and will give it a good test until the BlackBerry Q10 is released, then try them both side-by-side and sell the one I don't like.

What a (expensive) hobby :eek::)

Have you tried using swiftkey with flow disabled? I too don't like swiping around to type, much rather peck with my thumbs. And I have found that while I'm more accurate on the iPhone's keyboard, swiftkey's auto correct is so good that it doesn't matter and i'm faster on it.
