Thanks. Yeah, you barely use your phone
back on topic, am I missing something or is there no battery percentage thing in the top bar? I ended up getting some widget off the play store.

...... and it only gets better.

HTC also provided another interesting tidbit: it's currently "examining the best way to support early adopters of the One" that may prefer the stock Android experience over Sense, perhaps by way of an AOSP ROM. The company isn't providing specifics on that front just yet
Finally HTC is acknowledging the dev community and making it official. This would be great, no more bootloader locked crap, no more s-on, no more funky drivers that don't play nice with aosp, and the list goes on. Either that or this is HTC's last pitch or ditch effort to climb out of that 1st qtr drubbing they took. The HTC one is truly their flagship and they know it's all in or nothing.
Spent some time at AT&T yesterday. Did my best to compare the speakers on the One versus my iPhone 5. I was testing YouTube vids where people speak because I'm more interested in podcast performance versus music or games.
From what I could tell, the One's speakers don't get much louder at max compared to the iPhone 5 at max. Instead it simply provides a much richer and pleasing sound. In part or entirely because of the 2 speakers. If someone who has used these 2 phones extensively can say otherwise I'd like to hear.
I have mixed feelings about this. On one side I certainly think the One would provide a superior podcast experience when listening through the dedicated speakers. But when it comes to the volume levels and not clarity/richness of the voices, it's essentially a wash.
Another observation. I strongly prefer IPS over Samsung's OLED screens, however I really prefer the screen size, buttons, and weight of the S4 over the One. I wish I could get the S4 with the One's screen and speakers.
Took some pics (-1 sharpness). I am by no means a pro shooter, hence not particularly interesting subjects.
It probably doesn't help that i recently just played with an 808 PureView...but i can't say i'm wowed overall. The fact that its a 4MP shooter really shows and you can tell its more for Instagram shots than anything else.
Actually I think your pics look grand - especially the street scene, but I do agree that's the whole point - they are more for sharing on social networks and for that purpose they do the job.
If you want to print them or blow them up, then we need more megapixels. Hopefully next time HTC will give us both ultrapixels + megapixels combined.
What puts me off is that you basically have to destroy the phone in order to replace the battery. If you have seen the insides of this phone from iFixit you know what I mean. I usually stay away from companies that design their phones this way.
Well I managed to get in .....

You work at HTC?
Has anyone upgraded to the One from an iPhone 4? My 4 took great shots back in the day despite it having 'only' a 5MP camera, so I'm curious to see how the One would compare, seeing as it's only one megapixel less.

Is your One carrier locked to Vodafone? and do they delay updates?
Nope it's not carrier locked to vodafone, and I got the update about 4 days after confirmation that the camera update / capacitive fix update was first rolling out - so can't say it was delayed at all no.
I see, any Vodafone splash screen on boot up?
Yeah, there's a splash screen on my replacement. There wasn't on the first one I bought. But yet it still remains simfree thank goodness. Actually the CID is for Vodafone UK not Vodafone IE so that's probably why they chose to make them SIM free so they didn't have to repackage software for Ireland.
