I really don't expect a Mini until next year with a redesign, probably for the worse, with Broadwell.

sorry, i did not mean to aim my triad at you in particular, it was much more of a general rant.... my sincere apologies for not making that clear... to be honest i think it is a general frustration with :apple: and how long its taking to update the little guys...

i do agree with you again, that broadwell is when we might (emphasis on might) see a new mini.... with i ale agree is lamentable at best and somewhat unethical at worst (given the current mini prices...)

i guess in the mean time i'll be ordering a 256 850 PRO (the 128 seems like was a exercise of poor judgement... lol)

None taken. :)

Maybe we should start a contest to see who correctly predicts how many pages this thread get's to before we either get a new mini or it's discontinued.

Do I hear 500!

I bet that is one nice SSD. Check out the 512GB as well :)

the 128 is amazing! almost maxes out the sata connection....
512 is too much for me as i have a second 256 ssd in the mini but i underestimated the amount of space the caching service takes.

Thread and Mini to continue for the foreseeable future.

Growing exponentially at present, the thread is likely to continue doing so until a new generation of Mac Mini is announced. It's growth will then flatten until folks start to get antsy for the next new generation of Mini.

But I don't give a hoot……

How many generations will the Mini evolve through before replacing my early 2009 base model Mini becomes more cost effective than upgrading it?

Coming or not coming, I'm starting to think the new Mini will be the same shape and size of the Cinema Display leg, so that you can place it on there perfectly.

Probably as thin as an Air... Or even thinner. An Air without screen.

I Pixelmated it.

lol is this possible?

Hey hey hey... God news :

Did everyone note Apple is now more inclusive than never? This means they are designing products aimed at every market niche, so they delivery an 4.7" iPhone 6 for those just wanting an update and a 5.5" iPhone 6+ for those who wants an bigger thing (I consider it an step forward), also they go beyond on the Apple watch, while a single device would sell as hot bread, they instead give us an wide range of Apple Watches to choose from also the possibility to personalize such device for personal likes or needs, no precedent on this behavior at Apple, I give it an big hung to Cook for this.

What it means this for the Mac line? - So simple Apple will deliver as many Mac as market niches to fill, this could mean: A Mac nano, new Mac Mini, new Mac semi-Pro, who knows also an Mac table may come in the future . of course All this depends big on Intel new cpu delivery.

No updating the Mac mini early this year means they opted for: 1- a full redesign, 2 ditch the mini and instead offer two different machines aimed at more specialized users.

Given the increasing popularity of micro mini pcs (or Nano PC) I could bet that Apple is going to give us a sort of Mac Nano, the same way should launch an more powerful Mac aimed at those not needing an iMac also for those needing something more powerful than an iMac or Mac mini but can justify an Mac Pro (this year being updated and about 30% more powerful). I'm confident that Apple is aware what the market needs and they knows how to deliver it.

Si wait next announcements, with OSX YOSEMITH should come something big, not just the updated Mac Pro and the retina MacBook Air (only new Macs confirmed), market of course wants a new iMac (I think will not arrive until Q2'15 with the retina 5K Thunderbolt Display) but a mac mini update or replacement it's urgent, as well new Mac servers maybe based on ARM with 1-5 hdd on an mini cabinet replacing the less than optimal Apple Timecapsule.

I was impressed yesterday, Cook is doing well have my approval.

Hi,

i work in an Apple Reseller and like many of you i'm waiting for the mini 2013 refresh.

From monday the two major Apple suppliers in Italy are suddenly and completely out of stock of minis. I know that this happen from time to time, but the timing is no coincidence.

Trust me, a new mini is coming next week, or at least we have solid evidence to believe it.

Yeah, thats what I thought about today - 10 Months after than your comment.

I still have hope for october. I thought there could be a little chance to have a small silent update. However it was actually obvious that bo mini could be introduced in a fancy gadget introduction. I see apple watch as a side device that do not deserve too much attention unless a standalone iphone replacement. However i am loosing hope for modifiable desktop computers. I cannot find a proper one in tech stores. Everywhere is being floded by notebooks, ultrabooks, phones and such.

It seems like an end of an era. I want a device that i will be able to make use of for years to come. I will wait for october and put some money aside. If mini is lost in dark i will get a dell xps 8600. Last chance with apple for me.

I like desktop computers, not all in one's, tablets, smart phones or watches. If Apple discontinues the Mac Mini, Color me gone. I will stick with my base 2011 Mini until it dies. After that, I'm building another Windows PC....

Keep in mind that a proper Mac Pro update didn't come for over 3 years. If the Mac mini beats the Mac Pro, I'd start be a little worried. I know that there has to be at least a few Mac mini prototypes at Cupertino. Especially if we are to see a new Mac Mini between now and Late 2015.

One does wonder why the Apple Store is down, since nothing announced today will be available to order before September 12th...

<edit>I guess they will put up product pages, even if they can't be ordered. Is that reason enough to shut down the store this afternoon?</edit>

They also removed the iPod Classic. A silent demise that I hope doesn't happen to the Mini.

That is the only fact to give me hope but i dont think my macbook will hold that long and i dont have funds to buy a new pc every year or two. If i buy a mini now and it gets updates after one year with a new design and hardware i will not feel good. I am not sure but i read somewhere that nMp and pre 2013 mac pro does not have a huge difference performance wise. Some people may even choose older for its inner space. I would get a mini in an instant if it becomes competitive in hardware. If i buy now as it is i need to put ssd's ram and still its not competitive because old old gpu and the price rises significantly. I almost convinced myself buying it but my wifes windows 8 sony notebook convinces me to wait. I bought my mb in vista period and now windows have really moved but looking at osx i really like snow leopard more. I hope with yosemite apple gets it together and give us great products we can enjoy and use for production. Otherwise windows 8 is just as good in my experience.

This is how it should be. Which means we won't get it.
