Apple Store is Down. What should we expect? Or should we expect anything at all? :)

Possibly just the rumoured iMac spec bump. I would expect they would give a spec bump to the rMBP before (or at the same time as) updating the Mini but I could be wrong.

The 21,5 Imac at a lower price would be nice. And ssd as standard :) but that is asking too much i guess.

If it's just a little speed bump I'm hoping the refurb store might be full of new Mini's ready for clearance (and hopefully a reduced price for the new and refurb models)

I'm certainly not getting my hopes up but boy would it be nice for a Mini refresh today. :)

I agree, I think the mini is past a silent upgrade now isn't it?

iMac old haswell -> new haswell is one thing, but I think mac mini with ivy -> haswell they would want to announce no?

^This. But then, on closer inspection... what's the hurry? Really, how much quality 4K content is out there now? And, yes, I can buy 4k tvs now, but they are stupid expensive in this novelty stage.

The way I see it, the current mini handles FHD just fine. There is no real benefit to being on the front end of the UHD adoption curve; wait until the tech matures - in a couple of years [for htpc uses].

Until then just enjoy what you've got.

I'm in no hurry but when the new Mini drops, if it does, I want it ready for another 3 year refresh.
2015 will be the 4k year with content and hardware flooding the market. It may not be mature but it will be here.
H.265 video compression will allow for 4k streaming even for DSL.
Most HT receivers are being equipped for 4k with HDMI 2.0.

I agree with most everything you're saying, except I think 2016 is more likely for mainstream, especially content (which may take even longer).

it looks like the price was lowered in Switzerland too.

before:
i5 699 CHF
i7 929 CHF

now:
i5 679 CHF
i7 879 CHF

But that's no longer relevant to me as I decided I'll be building a completely fan less i7 system for about the same price. For all of you concerned about mac mini fan noise, check out the NOFAN CR-95C passive CPU cooler if you don't mind a standard sized desktop computer (but hey, at least it totally silent).

First post on macrumors, been lurking around for ages.
Keep waiting guys, maybe next week is the good one ;)

Well, the new "low cost" iMac is out ... is this the new Mac mini or should I say the Mac mini succesor?
Wow. i5 1.4GHz sounds astonishingly anaemic.

i5 was 629€ now 599€
I7 was 829€ now 799€
Hmmm.

UK prices remain £499 / £649, which currently translates to €623 / €810.

Apple hate us.

:(

Well, with that announcement looks like I can go ahead and install my 16G RAM into my Mac Mini i7 that arrived this week. Was holding off just in case it was headed back to the store.

Given I've never had an SSD in any computer, the i7 2.3 with SSD is perfectly snappy for my xCode usage. You can probably rest assured that as soon as I open the back cover and get all the things setup on it that I need, a refresh will likely happen ... after day 15 for my new Mini.

Either way, I'm waiting to see how many simultaneous posts show up after the 1999th post in this thread. Might bring the server down

The good news is that this new iMac is not a threat to the Mini, Apple aren't going to kill it off in favour of this "budget" iMac
