I agree, many others here seem to think differently. And there's not even much missing, a new CPU, a decent GPU for the 15", a couple of TB3 ports. Perhaps they are waiting for Kaby Lake for the TB3.

I agree if they just lunch the same rMBP but with up-to-date processor, graphics, and 1 additional port for USB c I will be the first in line.
Whatever it is at this stage I want one now!

Apple would be in trouble if windows makers would release a laptop with a better touchpad. Linux is already available natively on Windows 10. The only real advantage left for the macs are usuability, which it turns out, is everything!

I think the Mac is a much better computer, the overall experience is much better. i have used Mac for the last 4 years (since I brought my first MacBook Pro in 2011) and I find it less annoying/frustrating. Just my opinion.

If the MBP isn't coming until this fall, there is no way that image is showing a chassis from a mass production line. Either it's a sample for a production that has yet to start, and even then it's really early, or it's a prototype. But I don't think we've ever seen an image of a prototype, so that doesn't make sense. They're created inhouse in California and never leave the labs AFAIK.

I'm forced to conclude that mass production can't be far off, or the image is fake. It does not look fake...

Rightly said. I too felt that if this thing is in mass production, indicated by this leaked image - which seems authentic enough, it should be coming out within 1 or 2 months (which puts us at July or August). But Mark Gurman came along and said no hardware this WWDC...so maybe a special Apple event in late summer for the Mac lineup. Sept/Oct seem too far.

For the last couple of years, they have held a March event, WWDC and then the September event. They use to hold WWDC, September event and then the October event, the September event for iPhones and the October was always for iPad's and Mac's. So unless Apple are planning on holding 4 events, I suspect we may either see the MacBook Pro's at WWDC or the iPhone event in September.

I wonder if Apple is going to start to mix up the announcement events (not WWDC) a bit, especially if they transition to a longer iPhone update cycle.

I don't think they are transitioning to a longer update cycle. The reason the iPhone 7 is rumoured to keep the same design is because Apple will want to do something for the iPhones 10th anniversary next year. Maybe we will see a big event in September where they announce iPhone 7 and new Mac's, this is something they have never done before (as far as I'm aware.) OR the rumours could be wrong and we could see the MacBook Pro at WWDC next week. I guess this time next week we will know for sure.

WWDC 2005 Announcement: Partnering with Intel
WWDC 2006 Announcement: Mac Pro, Time Machine
WWDC 2008 Announcement: iPhone 3G
WWDC 2009 Announcement: 13" MacBook Pro (15" and 17" were refreshed)
WWDC 2010 Announcement: iPhone 4
WWDC 2012 Announcement: MacBook Pro with Retina Display (Air/non-retina-Pro were refreshed)
WWDC 2013 Announcement: new Mac Pro
WWDC 2015 Announcement: None hardware (BUT NOTE APPLE MUSIC)*

WWDC 2016 Announcement: Transition to Apple A10 chip for all Macs.

(Sadly, considering Apple's past philosophy and situation back in 2005, it's long overdue they are doing this transition. It's no secret that Apple is currently unsatisfied with the (non-)progress intel is doing with their CPUs and moreover their GPUs.)

[doublepost=1465277100][/doublepost]
[..] reliable people like Ming-Chi-Kuo and Rene from IMore who are both very reliable have said that there will be no Mac's at WWDC

They are right. Apple will rename all their Mac products. The MBP will be called iLap Pro. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

It'll be a long time before Apple can match the performance of Intel chips. They maybe able to power their ultra-portable laptops with something in-house, but nothing in the Pro series for a long, long time.

With regards to GPUs, the new Iris Pros are a major feat of engineering. They're better than dGPUs such as the GTX 750.

Take a look at this chart: http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/...ke-Gen9-Graphics-Architecture_Advancement.jpg and you'll see the amazing progress that Intel has made.

We really do need a strong competitor to Intel, but AMD is the closest and Intel has them soundly beat for the next couple years.

That would be interesting. Though I suspect a few years from now perhaps. The 12" MacBook would make sense to be the first to go A-Series and they just updated that a couple months ago.

A long time? From what I've heard, the performance of the A9X overtakes that of the Intel Core m chips from last year.

Me, I'd be open to ARM powered Macs. They are growing at a faster rate, and they are much more power efficient.

It beat them running in an iPad running iOS while the low end Intel chips were in a Mac runnig OS X.

In unrelated news if you put a corvette engine in a semi it will be beat by a bike with a motorcycle engine.

Please. I'm getting really tired of car analogies.

But that's not what it's about. It's about what they're capable of. Sure, at the core iOS is easier to power than OS X, but they're cabableof about the same. Apple just don't take advantage of it with the iPad Pro.

Same. I will have had my mid 2012 rMBP for 4 years in July and it still runs fine. Never had any of the issues people were reporting when they first came out.

I could live with that :) there are so many different rumours at the moment  Rene from iMore along with Ming-Chi-Kuo and 9to5 Mac have said no hardware at WWDC, but this report contradicts that, so I suppose it's who you believe
Five years worth of "thumbs ups" if this holds true. :)

Tbh Apple has a winning design on their hands for the rMBP. All they had to do was decrease the screen bezels, and up the resolution. Replace all USB A/TB2 with TB3, and keep the other ports (although nixing HDMI is fine by me). Update to Skylake processors. And change that horrid keyboard typography to San Francisco, and individual lit key caps would be nice too. Make it thinner (not by decreasing the chassis, however by thinning the bottom bulge). Touch ID biometrics could be a nice feature as well if done right.

That's it. That's all you had to do. And you should do it by WWDC. But no, you're going to "innovate". I'm still going to keep an open mind for that OLED Touchbar.

I wouldn't give up just yet, a couple of reports yesterday said that Apple may still announce the MacBook Pro's at WWDC, along with updated MacBook Air's.

Regardless an A series Mac would run like garbage and the point is that Intel chips are still obviously much more powerful. That was the whole point of the car analogie…
