My girlfriend is playing Zelda more than me and she finally broke down and ask me to get her one. We went out today looking for one and there is nothing left in sight(Zelda game is everywhere though)...except this one electronic shop that was trying to sell me the thing for $700..I looked at the store clerk like "seriously buddy?"...pass.

I hope they get more in stock soon but until then the hunt continues.

I have been shocked by some of the prices these scalpers are asking for. Completely ridiculous. I guess if somebody was desperate enough and wanted one, then they'll pay that price.

Went to BB yesterday to get reimbursed for my Gamers Club discount on BOTW and the guy in front of me was returning a Neon Switch.

The BB rep goes "thank you! This is coming home with me!"

I wonder if there are going to be any open box switches available soon, coming up close to the 2 week return period.

I would be hesitant with the Switch buying open box. I would test it and inspect it thoroughly to ensure everything is included. I don't trust Geek Squad's service to "Inspect" the returned item. My opinion is they are lazy and poorly trained with basic general knowledge. Especially since they reduced their hiring qualifications to be a "Certified" technician.

However, I would expect at least a $50.00 discount for the open box.

I would be really scared to buy an open box and find dead pixels or the Joycon sync issue.

Can open box items be returned for a second time? Don't know how that works.

I, too, would avoid any open box Switches. With the potential for drops & scratches, I just don't see it being that great a deal.

With the two week mark coming up, I'd like to think the supply chains would start smoothing out and we would get a regular trickle/stream of units coming in. I'd like to think that...

Wellp, my switch was working great, was playing Zelda all day long, and now the left joycon is acting up and randomly stops working

My glass screen protectors came in. I will say, it fits great and feels nice, well worth the $10. And even though I had no scratches, I now don't have to worry about that. Highly recommend.

Yes, at least in the US at Best Buy you still get the same 14 day return window.

If there is something wrong you can always try to get Nintendo to replace or do warrantee swap. Worse case scenario is you return it with in the 14 day window.

And yeah, I only do open box if it's 20% or more discount.

True. Best Buy would at least acknowledge if something was wrong with the open box item and make it right. They're usually good about that. Although, I can't speak for Nintendo's warranty replacements, which, at this point would likely be a new unit, being they likely do Not have any refurbished units at the moment.

Finally got to try a friend's Switch over the weekend.

Pros:
I like the minimalist OS
The pro controller is nice because it is a "traditional" controller. But i wonder why they didnt(again) opt for something closer to a GCN shaped controller.

Zelda looks fantastic. I would even go so far as to say that i wouldnt mind trading in some detail for a constant framerate. I really think they should patch it so that the console mode renders at 720p if it helps the framerate. (I did notice the drops and the pop-ins)

Cons:
The hardware has a very plasticy feel. Personally it doesnt feel "premium" as most reviewers seem to state. It feels "okay" imho

The serial number sticker on the bottom looks really tacky.

The upper shoulder buttons on the joycons seem really thin.

Cheers

Can you provide a link to that specific glass screen protector? So I can order one if I buy a Switch

It cant be stated enough for a busy dad of 2 who gets gaming in whenever the world allows it how amazingly fast the Switch wakes from sleep mode and throws you right onto the mountaintop where you left Link last time.

It is absolutely amazing and I feel as if he was waiting there for me the whole time ready to continue exploring!!

I cannot wait for a Mario Kart game on this device for portability and console with the fun we will have.

This console is just fun. I love my XB1S but for very different reasons.

Nintendo really knocked it out of the park in learning from their mistakes with the WiiU with how this has been marketed, the flexibility and versatility of this device, and from the standpoint of what you get for $300.

I am impressed every single time I play the console.

I totally agree! -The glass types are totally the way to go! (I got a different brand to you, as there are actually quite alot of people doing them now!) Some are great, some not so great! But yeah, I definitely wouldn't ever trust my switch without the proper glass type of screen protector on it. I don't always do it on my phone, but the switch definitely needs it! The one you got also looks like a pretty decent quality one. Good to know who all the good ones are made by, as while many of the glass ones are decent, I've have come across the odd few companies in the past that make a shoddy job of them. The Orzly ones that I often get are the best quality I have ever used to date so far, but the ones you have here also look of a similar decent caliber. So nice to see that it's so easy to get hold of good ones now! I like the fact that when you put a proper glass one on, you can't even tell that it has a screen protector on!

Every day I'm fighting the urge to buy the Switch just to play the new Zelda. So so many positive reviews and comments from everyone...

But then my rational side kicks in and says it isn't worth it to buy a whole new system just for one, two or three games, and that it would be best to wait and see more games be released to see if there's more to buy in the future.

But in this case it's really difficult to listen to my rational side... I just want the Switch

I agree, I find I'm much more likely to game more often with the Switch. Instead of thinking, "Oh, I can't get much done in 15 minutes, after booting the system and loading the game," etc., I just fire it up and immediately I'm back where I left off (and the 15 minutes turns into an hour or so :) ).

I passed on the Switch. I think if I were to purchase the Switch, it would be more about the experience with Zelda than the Switch itself for me. I think there are a lot of promising future titles for the Switch and it will do well, aside from the technical issues plaguing some gamers.

However, to accompany my PS4 Pro, the Scorpio is next on my list for November. Excited to see what Microsoft has to offer.

I've thought about Scorpio also, but I think the Switch offers me a much more different experience than the Scorpio would, already owning a PS4, that is. I mean, I see PS and Xbox very similar, with just the exclusives and some additional features differentiating them. Nintendo has much more exclusives plus I could take it everywhere with me, like If I go on holidays.

But I'm still interested in Scorpio and if they can impress me I'd consider also buying one, but having the PS4 I see no reason to just abandon it less than one year after buying it to buy the multiplats on Scorpio instead of PS4, even if they are better. I've already bought 15 games for the PS4, and I don't have a 4K TV, so Scorpio maybe won't do too much for me. The Switch, on the other hand, would allow me to play Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong and Super Smash Bros on the go.

In the past, I tried to buy as many systems as possible, but only the best games for each system (this is back when things were a little cheaper, I gave up during the PS2 era).

There are so many games out there, why waste money on crap games? By not buying crap games (at full price) I figured that I would save enough for the system, etc.

So it really is a question of "quality vs. quantity." Most people seem to vote for quantity, and for some people that is quality...more is better.

Especially now that I am older, I really have a lot of other commitments and gaming takes a back seat to other things. At this point in my life, with Zelda on the Switch, my gaming time is pretty much spoken for. When Star Citizen alpha 3.0 comes out, I'll probably be doing that full time (so I'd better hurry up and finish Zelda, ha ha).
