I've seen on a switch review that the console has an air gap between the LCD and front panel. Is it just like on the cheap 2017 iPad? This one I find it very noticeable when I've check one out at the store.

Is it the same?

I tried googling to see what that might look like but i got a bunch of diagrams. Does it look like a 'bubble' on the screen, similar to when a screen protector goes on improperly?

The YouTube review that says that is the one from Detroitborg.

Don't know how it looks like on the Switch. On the 2017 iPad I can notice it. The LCD itself looks like a little bit far away from the front panel.

Splatoon 2 is great fun! I stopped playing the first game because it was a pain to get going on the Wii U. Really feels at home on Switch.

Did I mention Cave Story? Bought it from the US shop a while ago and completely it twice already - still as good as ever :)

But I got to thinking about the Switch. I love how good it's games have been so far and comparing to the 3 most recent consoles I bought. The PS4, 3DS, and Wii U all had dreadful first years - the PS4 compounded by the lack of backwards compatibility. I think I've got 20 games so far and I'd consider a bunch of them to be essential. Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, Arms, Zelda, Minecraft, Cave Story. And even on games that I own on different systems I've got more hours in on the Switch versions. It's alright. Obviously it'll slow down eventually but what a good start it's had.

Getting sucked into this joycon game

Drove like 40 min to get these neon yellow

Traded my grey stock, and an extra Xbox one controller I literally never use. Paid 10 out of pocket

Now got pair of blues and yellows

I invested (lol) in an extra dock for my bedroom, and I'm so happy with it.

Awesome!

Couldn’t justify $90 for another dock, I rarely go between tv’s.

Also I wish they’d have different dock colors too at that price :D

By the way what are your guys favorite colors?

I’m really digging the neon yellow so far, but I like that and blue

The red I dont care for, not enough. and I didn’t mind the greys, but I also didn’t want 3x pairs of joycons so i traded in my greys to pay for a good chunk of the yellows

When they release a black, I think I’ll HAVE to buy a third pair lol

But i have a feeling they’ll keep getting crazier and crazier with colors

For me its

1) yellow/blue (i have a feeling its yellow novelty, there will be times it will be fatiguing and will switch to blue but)
2) grey (just boring, not dark enough)
3) red (really think they messed up the red)

The green/pink neon splatoon combo seems interesting too :D but I usually like having the pair

Yes, I played Splatoon 2 all weekend too. I forgot how fun that game is. I don't recall the Wii U version ever being hard to get into though? It could get laggy at times though.

I actually feel like the Switch release is very similar to PS4 and XB1 initial release. Basically we're getting remasters and ports. The only worthwhile new IP is Arms. I'm looking forward to trying that.

I've been tempted by some of these new mini docks coming out of China. I'm tempted to get one and just carry that between rooms as needed, rather than splashing out on 5 or 6 docks in my fave rooms!

I have the neon yellows, and they look great. I have different dock covers/socks for both of my docs, so the yellow joy con make my docks/switch look different in both rooms.

It was rough dropping the money for a new dock, but 5 or 6? I'm glad I only have two TVs. The markup on the dock itself has to be wild. Nintendo would sell so many of them if they were $19.99.

What are you referring to here?

Did NBA Playgrounds get better enough to warrant its purchase?
The PS4 version is available for €11.99 if you want it on PSN right now - I still wouldn't recommend the switch version sadly unless they have it on sale with 50% off.

That being said it's clear from your avatar you are a fan of basketball and so may be more forgiving of its shortcomings on the platform.

Minecraft has had a massive update on switch pushing docked mode to 1080p 60fps, from the 720p it launched with.

I've tried before to get into minecraft but after a brief (1 hour or so) I struggled the see what the fuss is all about, I fear so may be missing the point.

So question. Is it worth giving another shot on switch ?

If it didn't click with you the first time, I'm honestly not sure if it will click with you now.

My suggestion would be to try and play more of the version you already own and maybe try to put in more time than you did the first time. If it starts to click, then by all means get it on Switch. If it doesn't, then I would suggest saving your hard earned cash on something else you know will appeal to you.

Long time lurker, rare time poster :)

Anyone have any suggestions for any under the radar type games to add to the Switch library?

My son and I play a lot together and we are tiring of MK8.

He is 5. I got excited when I saw Namco is releasing like a classic collection!

Yesterday I bought the Switch.

One question: do the triggers really have that low travel? Is it the same on every Joycon?

I find it very surprising they have such low travel, like the MacBook keyboard. It's kind of hard for me to play comfortably this way. Feels like the Pro controller is a must.

Or maybe the triggers on my Joycons have less travel than normal?

They are digital not analog triggers

So all or nothing. Same with pro controller but pro controller has more satisfying triggers IMO

It may be build variance too from one joycon to another I dunno if there's different tolerances but

Hope that helps

Well! One of my fave games is now out on Switch - Retro City Rampage! Also picked up Slime San because it looks totally up my street. I’ve only played each for an hour but they’re great. I also bought Gunbarich, which is only £3 from the Japanese eShop. It’s a fun little breakout clone that reminds me of Pop n Twinbee on the SNES.

I was tempted by that Blockle game but it just seems a little... weird. To me at least. A little too much “Japan loves boobs”.
