disagree.

2015 rMBP 256GB with full TDP performance CPU and GPU = 1,499

2016 rMBP 256GB with 15w TDP CPU, cheaper 540 graphics, 2 less ports, crippled wifi = 1,499

2016 rMBP 256 with full TDP performance CPU and GPU with 4 ports and non crippled wifi plus TB = $1,799
Gpu performance is better than base 2015 though..

Yep agree - think its Windows, too.

I used to play on HD4000 with lowest setting and everything turned off. Question is how well does it hold up with HD540?

Resolutions im interested in are 1280x800 and 1440x900.

Next question is how well will this work if run 20-30 mins so CPU is hot and maybe have to throttle?

I didn't Play with my Intel HD 5000 MBA. For me unplayable.

Way better with 540.

The nTB MBP doesn't throttle.

The Iris 540 in the base 2016 ntMBP is significantly better than the GPU in the 2015. The 2016 also has a much faster SSD and Thunderbolt 3 while the 2015 has Thunderbolt 2.

So far so good on my new nTB MBP. No amazing battery life yet, but looking at 7-8 hours with fairly light usage (using Chrome mostly though). The screen is a pretty nice upgrade after my 11" Air :D

even though Apple removed the time in the battery indicator, it still shows up in activity monitor. last time I checked after disconnecting from power, it said 10:33. definitely pleased with this machine.

I tried it:
1440x900 isn't availabe so I tried it with 1280x800 and 1680x1050.

On 1280x800 and everything on low I got 50 to 60 FPS
On 1280x800 and High I got 20 to 30 FPS
On 1680x1050 and Low 45 to 55 FPS
On 1680x1050 and High also 20 to 30 FPS

Can this laptop handle the following things:

- no need to turn it off, just close the lid and don't worry about battery drainage
- don't worry about battery life,it has at least 8h of casual use
- need bigger screen, just plug it in a monitor and work smoothly (even the high resolution displays are no problem for the igpu)
- it's small enough to use it on the go, sofa, bed..almost like the 12"
- you got adobe CC and use it casually, no problem for the cpu and igpu of this bad boy
- Wi-Fi connected, you don't feel any slowness or interruption
- the keys don't get stucked

I have the TB and am only getting 5-7 hours of battery, even after clean install of 10.2.2 update. I've tried everything under the sun, log activity with Battery Health 2/Activity Monitor, etc., and none of it really matters.

Just curious to know what real-world battery life you are getting? I typically use Safari, Chrome, Fantastical 2, Polymail, Slack, Messages, Dropbox, Office/iWork, as well as occasional Netflix videos and video conferencing with a Chrome-based telemedicine application.

I don't use Adobe CC so can't comment on it's performance, but besides that, in my experience yes to the above.

This machine is exactly what I was looking for: a more powerful rMB that can be my main Mac. No regrets getting this so far.

With casual use I'm easily getting 8 or 9 hours of battery life. It's been very impressive. Video streaming, though, like Netflix or video conferencing, will drain the battery a bit faster. However, when watching locally saved video content I haven't seen any worse battery life.

8-10hrs

I like how massive this thread is, clearly people aren't as interested in a touchbar replacing function keys as apple thinks.. as of now

My nTB was delivered today from BH and my TB was returned to the Apple Store about an hour ago.. Happily on the nTB version now..

Got the nTB from BH for $1,374 (no tax and free shipping) and received a refund of $1,937 (with sales tax) from Apple..

Still loving it, battery life consistently over the nine hour mark with usage of web browsing, office, photoshop and remote desktop's. I haven't used the power plug and cable since the first day I received it. It's happily charging on my desk from a USB hub with Type-C and via an external power brick with USB Type-C in the office.
