Which one is ideal to get first, the case or the sleeve?

It depends.. I got the case the day I got the MBP and put it in straight away. The sleeve I ordered didn't fit (was too big) so sent it back. However, I'm going back to uni tomorrow so will be taking it around in my bag so got another sleeve today (which is actually meant to be for the 12inch MB but it fits perfectly even with my case). Ideally I would get both at the same time, but if for some reason I had to pick between them, I would go for case first unless I was intending to carry it around. If I was at uni when I got it it would be sleeve first. Just get both!

I have the 2016 ntb and love it.
I probably will get the touchbar on. the next release , but I am hearing a lot of people did not think much of it.
I think the next release touchbar will be much better .
may I suggest this case : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N1PMW11/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I tried a few on amazon and so far this one is the best of the lot-much better fit and look than the others I tried.

Why on earth would you put this beautiful machine in a horrible case like that?

I carry mine around for my business and use it for bids ,etc.
The reason i use that case is so it does not look like crap bouncing around jobsites .
And who cares what you think- your probably an office jockey and have yours sitting on doilies on your desk all day.
Mine is actually on real world construction sites and i go thru about 6 cases a year.
Better the case gets beat up and muddied than my macbook pro. I give it to my grandaughter at the the next product release and actually they look pretty good when she gets them , thanks to the case.
My 15" macbook stays at home on my desk .
And btw the brown one looks really nice in person , have recieved many compliments and inquiries on where to get one.
So i am not a office snowflake like you, and it is out in the real world- not in an office environment.

That's fair enough, being on construction sites I can totally understand. Mine doesn't leave the house thus, I don't have a case but I do have a sleeve for the times I need to take it out.

Love your office comments, you've made my day.

Has anyone elses nTB macbook started to slow down? mines becoming really slow and laggy, like scrolling it will just freeze for a second before continuing to scroll opening apps is taking longer and longer.

No - no problems here.
I would start checking recently added apps or programs.
If not in apps make appt. at apple and get checked- could be component.
Have had mine sine nov.

Congrats. I see Best Buy has a 2 day sale on base nTB for $1274.

Sadly just the 256 models.

I wish Apple would stop selling such low base model storage levels just to support their price anchoring/upsell strategy.

It's really tiring. We all know why they do it, but please stop.

Make it so "every model you could possibly buy is a GREAT one"....

My aunt bought a lower spec one simply due to price and sure enough, is having massive storage issues (photos/videos) now. Thanks Apple.

Your aunt made an uneducated purchase. While I'm glad that Apple got rid of the 128 GB base model, even that amount of storage would be enough for some people with very basic needs. Streaming content and cloud storage is becoming ever more popular.

Thanks..

Sorry - She's older and was just counting on a great experience with no hassles about storage for the videos/photos of her grandkids..

Seriously man - you should go listen to the sales pitch at Apple Stores about this stuff. They spew out things like "if you ever run out you have iCloud storage!" - Yay.. Great... And that is so seamless and wonderful and easy for every normal user to understand, etc.. (oh and it costs more and ongoing)

I got one today. Standard configuration in space gray from Best Buy. They had it for $1274 ($225 off). I think its perfect for me. Until the price of the touch bar comes down in the future, its not worth it to me. I still prefer the regular function keys. Not worth paying the extra $300.

People keep saying "$300 is not worth it for the TB". But it's not just the TB. The processor is more powerful (can't remember wattage), the RAM speed is faster (2133 vs 1866), and it has ports on both sides.

I personally prefer the nTB and is the one I got, but one is really getting a lot more than just the TB for $300.

I bought my 2016 MacBook Pro Without Touch Bar yesterday and I have not regretted it since. Their are three aspects I love about this machine:

1. The beautiful compact design.
2. The wide color display. The colors are really beautiful and everything stands out.
3. The new designed keyboard was an original worry but now that I am typing on it I realize how seamless it is to use.

I am really impressed with it.

And Touch ID. I do agree with you however, most people won't take advantage of those spec bumps and with USB-C being so universal, most people don't really need 4.

Touch ID across all new Macs would be the ultimate.

I went back and forth so many times between nTB and TB but ultimately decided to go nTB. I don't use my computer much anymore like I used to because of my iPP but when I do use it, I don't do much on it that is processor intensive.

I love my nTB. It's so light and compact compared to my 2012, and the display is beautiful. I love the keyboard too.

How does the keyboard compare to the 'older' one (the traditional one found on older MBPs) in terms of its ability to repel oil from the fingers? Does it look shiny or does it hold well? My 2010 MBP has an excelllent keyboard in that regard, my (work) Lenovo is terrible.

I really don't like when some letters look so shiny and you can see all the fatty residue on certain letters.

Steve never liked buttons, right? Well, keyboards can be seen as buttons, as such never quite get the "quality" of love that Apple generally gives to things they really want to do. :p

In short, button quality is something I would personally call pathetic. I can see minor shine developing, just minor, and the keyboard is just two months old. And I am typing very sporadically these two months. As of today, the oils haven't begun to hurt that bad since I wipe the keyboard thoroughly every night, but I recommend getting a Moshi ClearGuard, as I will, too, and forget about this and be happy.

Thanks. I think it will bit the billet and go without keyboard protector. I have quite dry hands anyway, I can't stand hands' moisturisers and the like. And I always wash my hands before using the MBP (little bit OCD I think).

About storage - i own the 256gb version, have 140GB free. I also own a 7TB NAS at home. Having ALL your files on a single Computer/iPhone/etc is a bad idea. With the NAS (which has backup), i can access all photos/videos/music/documents from every device at home.
