Ack, I have that same nightmare, too! I mean maybe you’re remembering how difficult they were to use. For me I did have a recurring nightmare for years about it. I’m trying to dial out for some emergency or reach someone and I can’t get the danged number dialed properly and have to start all over.
The thing is, in real waking life, we were among the first in the neighborhood to get touch tone phones. My dad worked for “the Bell System” starting before the divestiture all the way to his part of it becoming Verizon. So he had to have the latest and greatest!
My mom was so proud of the touch tone phone in the kitchen because it was the fashion forward trendy color of avocado green!
I had a toy rotary phone. I got excited when I “upgraded” to a toy touch tone phone.
My husband used to call me on a rotary phone when we were dating. His parents had that phone in their basement until just a few years ago when they moved to the retirement apartments.
I bought a super long cord for my pink bedroom phone so I could put the phone through the window and take it outside where I could talk to my friends and still enjoy being outdoors. I was so excited when my dad bought us Cobra cordless phones but they didn’t work well so I went back to the pink corded phone.
