They did joke about not having a swappable battery with the S4/S5, but then the S6 didn't come with a swappable battery (or upgradable storage). Hope it's not this case again!
I'll still wait for the Super Infinity Display...

Yeah I got a bit depressed with all the arguing, which I was guilty of as well. Just poking my head in here from time to time.

The biggest technological accomplishment in phones when I was a kid was that long, curly cord that allowed you to take your phone into another room!! You are absolutely correct, it's amazing what we all complain about when we have the incredible ability to have a supercomputer in the palm of a hand.

My only complaint is that now that I can enjoy such massive power, my eyes are failing and I can't read anything on them anymore!!

I still have nightmares of using my grandma's old rotary phone... and u get through 7 or 8 of the numbers... and u screwed up one and had to start all over. :(

Ack, I have that same nightmare, too! I mean maybe you’re remembering how difficult they were to use. For me I did have a recurring nightmare for years about it. I’m trying to dial out for some emergency or reach someone and I can’t get the danged number dialed properly and have to start all over.

The thing is, in real waking life, we were among the first in the neighborhood to get touch tone phones. My dad worked for “the Bell System” starting before the divestiture all the way to his part of it becoming Verizon. So he had to have the latest and greatest!

My mom was so proud of the touch tone phone in the kitchen because it was the fashion forward trendy color of avocado green!

I had a toy rotary phone. I got excited when I “upgraded” to a toy touch tone phone. :pMy husband used to call me on a rotary phone when we were dating. His parents had that phone in their basement until just a few years ago when they moved to the retirement apartments.

I bought a super long cord for my pink bedroom phone so I could put the phone through the window and take it outside where I could talk to my friends and still enjoy being outdoors. I was so excited when my dad bought us Cobra cordless phones but they didn’t work well so I went back to the pink corded phone.

Not only that but a new iphone is around the corner along with a new watch and supposedly itll be cheaper....
That is what I have been reading as well. Supposedly the new iphone X Plus will be the same price as the current iphone X.

I have major issues with notches - they really irritate my sense of proportion and there is no way I could ever use a phone with one. I know it's not rational and people say "you get used to it" but it's how I feel and I can't change that.
With all that out of the way, I really hope they don't put one on the Note 9 because the way it's going it could be my last phone for a fairly long time. If they do, then I'll stick with my Note8 until it falls apart and just pray there are phones available without a notch.
I really hope the Note 9 does NOT have a notch. I really hope Samsung does not follow the herd on the notch.

Yes, I really had that same actual nightmare. Exact same thing... some kind of emergency, and u have to dial quick, and you keep trying and trying and you keep messing up at the end...!

5 + months is not around the corner, when has a new iPhone ever been cheaper?

I prefer functionality to be honest. There were too many inconsistencies with the iphone X and I returned it. For pure ease of use and a better user experience I am keeping my iphone 8 plus. Sure the bezels are huge but it provides a better user experience and allows me to do what I need to do on a phone faster with less effort than the X

I agree, i am 5 months in with the X and have debated swapping many a time.

But then they did bring Wireless Charging with S6 and brought back Upgradable Memory with S7.

The latter was an issue with their new storage technology that at first did not play well with removable storage.

I mainly caught keypad phones, but I still caught rotary phones to a large extent. What a pain, you had to make sure and rotate ALL the way for the number to register, and they were so slow rotating back between numbers.

Didn't someone make a rotary smartphone or something nuts like that a few years ago?

I don’t know about a rotary smart phone but I recall there was a conventional phone handset that could be attached to a smartphone. Plus some weird docking arrangements.

I was able to find a picture of an avocado green phone like the one my parents still have. Imagine this in a kitchen with Harvest Gold Appliances.

Right there with ya GM. Until last summer when my mom finally moved out of the home I spend the latter portion of my childhood in, there was one of these in the basement, still wired up on one of my dad’s old workbenches.

And I also grew up with one of these on the wall of my early childhood home.

Exactly......why copy something that is already obsolete! I think rumors say the notch is gone in 2019 on iphones.
Is it copying the iphone or was there another phone out before the iphone that had a notch cut out of the top? Not sure how they are copying Apple, when Apple wasn't the first to do it.

Show me a phone that had a notch like the iphone X other than the Essential phone.
