When ordering, Apple didn't even give me a choice on a shipping method. There was just only one, and it was unpaid.

Did you order applecare? I made my first checkout with just the iMac and I had shipping options, when I added applecare I only had free shipping.

I received apple care today.

Edit: I just checked and my iMac is in Preparing shipment, Again! Hopefully will be in Seattle sometime around next week.

Nope, no AppleCare. I mean, it gave me a 'choice', but a choice between only one option. Isn't that a great choice, hm? :D

Are you sure? I just checked the store and all three shipping options are present. Where are you located?

The Netherlands, I ordered at the Edu store. They must be really messing with things, because when I placed an order I had an option to remove to modem, but I had no option to get a BT Keyboard/Mouse.

Haha, same here. I'm guessing that it has to do with the country I'm in?

I'm resigned to the fact that my computer isn't going to be here until next week at the earliest. I figure that if I'm pessimistic about the delivery date, if it comes early it will be a very pleasant surprise!

For the record, I'd ordered my 20" SD 400GB HD iMac a few hours after it was released via the Apple Store. The order changed to "shipped" only 2 days ago - it's still doing the rounds of the TNT warehouses in Shanghai...

Eventually (apparently), it will be travelling to the UK via the Netherlands (as TNT Express noted via the consignment order that it was being dealt with by their Dutch offices).

It reminds me of that scene in the French movie AMELIE, where her father keeps getting bizarre picture postcards of his missing garden gnome next to famous landmarks around the World. I'm going to have one of the World's most travelled computers...

What was your Est ship date kiwi?

Haha!

The 9th...

But now it's 6-7 business days from the time APPLE shipped it.

Oh, well.

:(

Currently, it's onto it's FOURTH Shanghai warehouse. I can't help but think that there's a group of people over there trying to test my iMac's ability against Quake 3 as long as it's there, whilst I'M languishing in self-pity back in London...

Ha!

I ordered a 20" with applecare, BT keyboard and Mouse, Airport Express, iSight, and a freebie HP printer. Everything has arrived but the iMac.

Now I'm being told May 18th... GRRRRR!!!!

I'm moving, so I'm actually going to have to change the shipping address, or just cancel outright and wait for them to be available at my local store.

Ha!

I think my iMac is next to yours, mine ha 4 instances on the tracking system in Shanghai too, and it also is a 400 GB 20". I'm hoping though that the fact the last occurence was almost 12 hours ago by now, it's already on the plane to somewhere near.

Good luck waiting :)

Shipping Update

Departed FedEx facility at 12:07AM 5/11/05 from San Jose, California. Free FedEx Ground shipping. Scheduled for delivery on Friday 5/13/05. Ordered 5/3/05 at 6:16AM. Looking good at this point.

However, history shows that it may arrive on Thursday taking only 2 days from California to Nevada. Depends on the connections and when it arrives in the local FedEx Ground facility.

Apple Store was wrong on phone call yesterday that it would ship from China. This was apparently shipped from stock in the San Jose warehouse.

By the looks of it it mine has only been signed for once in Shanghai - does that mean it has got three more warehouses to visit before being sent to the netherlands - then to the uk?

Does anyone mind if i start sobbing :(

Did anyone purchase one standard? I ordered mine yesterday with no add-ons or anything and it said it would ship yesterday, but now it is being delayed. When I ordered it the page said Same Day Shipping.

I've ordered the 20" iMac CTO 400GB with BT Keyboard and Mouse.
TNT tracking says mine is still in Shanghai:

Datum Uhrzeit Ort Status
11 Mai 2005 09:01 Shanghai Sendung Wurde Weitergeleitet
10 Mai 2005 23:35 Shanghai Sendung Wurde Von Der Abgangsniederlassung Weitergeleitet
10 Mai 2005 19:30 Shanghai Sendung Wurde Weitergeleitet
10 Mai 2005 09:50 Shanghai Sendung Wurde Weitergeleitet

4 Scans just like the other 400GB 20" iMacs...
What are they waiting for?

Info might help

I ordered my 20 INCH Imac 2.0, 250, with 1GB DDR400 SDRAM (1 DIMM) on 5/5 8:21 local time from apple.com. I didn't add the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. There was no next day shipping option so shortly after I upgraded to overnight shipping over the phone, agent said from California. It went to "sent to manufacturer" last Friday (5/6) with an expected delivery of 5/13. Yesterday they replaced it with a new item which looks to be something with the modem. Now there are two imacs on my order sheet, the old one showing the original ship date, the other showing a "-" where the ship date should be. The fun-hater from apple I just spoke with on the phone didn't seem to have a clue. He was looking at the same screen that I was. He said that they could be installing Tiger, not sure.

Seem familiar to anyone?

I have seen some other posts on this thread about the model # or SKU's being changed...cannot remember the details. My order of 5/3 for stock and BT M/K has stayed the same and shipped yesterday for Friday delivery. Here is the way my order was listed and you can compare with your

My 20" ordered on 5/3 (with 1GB RAM & BT-KB/M) was updated this morning from expected ship date of 5/10 to 5/18. I called and complained (gently) and asked for an express shipping upgrade - they offered & gave me an upgrade to 2-3 day shipping.

Anyway...all this extra time has me second guessing my splurging on the high-end model. I'm even wondering if I should have just ordered an eMac instead and saved the $800 difference. Anyone use or own both? Would like to know that the iMac is gonna be truly noticibly faster than an eMac...or just a slightly. There seems to be only a 40-50 point difference in their xBench scores. I know the screen will be awesome, but is it worth it?

Uggh, If my ship date goes back any on my order, I will have to do the same.

APPLE POSTING SAME DAY

On apple's website they are showing same day shipping on stock imacs. How is that possible considering all the issues we are having getting ours shipped in 3-5?

delayed shipping

I also ordered a new 20" G5 iMac the day they came out, with the edition of a BT keyboard and mouse. Yesterday my order was mysteriously replaced with another of the same model, and today i got an email stating that it won't be shipping until on or around the 18th. I am thinking that I will keep calling the local apple store and if they get them in soon, i'll cancel my order and just go buy it there. I have to admit all this is VERY discouraging. Seems to be typical with Apple when releasing a new product. They have to inventory, yet advertise it as available in the next few days (ie the shuffle etc).

Why don't they just announce the product and wait a few weeks before making it available to buy so they have the inventory to supply even the initial orders.

Same day?

I ordered half hour after announcement on the 3rd and my order got shifted from the 10th to the 20th this morning for estimated shipping. Needless to say I phoned Apple about it.

I ordered a 20" with 400 gig drive.

The Canadian apple store said 3-5 days shipping when I ordered and then changed to 1-3 days shipping not long after. Talk about a misleading estimate.

Anyone else in Canada waiting for a CTO 20"?
