Canada iMac shipments

Hi everyone! This is my first post!

I'm waiting for my custom built iMac G5 20" to arrive here in Toronto. It was shipped Same Day Right Away and it took me a while to find out how to track it (sort of). For others in Canada waiting, I was quoted up to 12 days before delivery (it shipped very late on the 16th). I ordered it standard shipping as I thought I preferred keeping my $43 to getting my iMac sooner. Now I'm not so sure! I will let you know when it arrives. I can hardly wait.

For others wanting to check on Same Day Right Away packages, here's the address for doing so:
http://www.sameday.ca/shipmentInquiry.asp?LangID=EN

I'm not sure how helpful it will be. I keep getting a notice that the shipment is not yet in their system.

For people who want to read a thread on Same Day and Apple, here's one I found:
http://www.macworld.com/forums/ubbt...=&Board=UBB4&Number=176052&page=&view=&sb=&o=

I hope this will be helpful to my fellow Canadians waiting for their packages. If any other Canadians have more info on their shipping times, I would appreciate it. And if you live in Toronto like I do, maybe we'll see each other at the Yorkdale Apple Store which opens this Saturday!

Cheers to all from a Mac user since my first 512k dual drive Mac back in 1985 (fall semester of my last year in University)!

I just looked up my order status on Macmall and my new 20" 2G iMac has been shipped! It has been back orderd since May 5 when it was ordered. I guess considering that it is the rev.B, that is about to be expected.

Woo-hoo!

I am now more optimistic about my iMac being here with me this week. Just checked my Apple Order Status and a new number had appeared, starting with 10. So, I quickly checked it via the TNT website and it appears that the iMac is now in TNT's hands as of today.

So, hopefully it will be delivered either tomorrow or Friday!

Come On!
Sounds good for you, this week :)
No more refs for me yet .......gah :(

Seems I may have got my hopes up a bit prematurely. Just checked my order via the TNT site and got this:-

18 May 2005 19:56 Arnhem Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point
18 May 2005 19:56 Arnhem Hub Consignment Passed Through Transit Point

That mean's it's still in the Netherlands :(. I very much doubt I'll get it this week now. A possibility of it being here by Friday if it enters the country tomorrow but I won't get my hopes up again.

So much for the expected delivery time from Apple of 6-7 days. They quoted that in my Dispatch Notification sent 11 May.

I got the same expected delivery time in my email the 9th of May! Counting working days it should have been here TODAY! I guess it wont even be here this week! I don't understand how they can be so unbelievably slow!
Look at this:
Shipment Picked Up SHANGHAI, SH, CN 09 May 2005 22:00
Depart Terminal (CNSHA02) 12 May 2005 23:45
Arrive Terminal (NLAMS07) 17 May 2005 12:06
Out For Delivery (NLAMS07) 17 May 2005 13:49
3 days between pick up and departure! Why?
4.5 days from Shanghai to the Netherlands! Why?
Out for delivery since yesterday! Why?
I guess we are still more lucky than those who ordered the first PM G5, but still, others have recieved their iMac G5 rev b!

sorry...

Sorry about that...just a little excited...The apple part of it was great. The shipped on time...from California might i add. The fed ex part...not so great...they are terrible at updating their tracking systems and then they pushed the delivery date back a day...but it ended up getting here on the original ETA so thats good.

Mine's now showing:

19 May 2005 00:04 Eindhoven Shipped From Originating Depot

Hopefully that means it's on it's way on a plane to England as we speak. I so want it to be delivered on Friday!

Think I'll spend tomorrow backing everything up from my Mac Mini onto my External Hard Drive.

Yours very excited!

Wow.. I ordered my 20" iMac today at 1300 and at 2200 this evening I got an email saying it had already shipped! Bit shocked as I'd expected the 5 day build period.. can't complain though. It's the stock configuration (adding my own RAM later) so I wonder if that helped.

The annoying thing is I didn't actually want it to arrive till next week as I'm studying for my last two (ever!) University exams which are next Monday, Tuesday.. was planning to have it arrive on the Wednesday! I guess I'll just end up playing with it and ruining my degree now :p

This ain't fair, my order has not been processed or anything yet and its been 2 days :(

I should note that I'm in the UK... where are you? Oh and also I ordered it from the AppleStore for Higher Education rather than the normal consumer. That may have been a factor.

I did the same. I'm in Canada though. Education store gives me a $100 cdn reduction.

Their education store is flawed in a way. They have 0 means for verification that you are a student or teacher or anything... technically just anybody could get the discount.

Yeah, for the normal Edu store that's true. I wonder if they check a random sample or not... I have heard tell of people who were asked to photo copy and send in their student cards but that may be an urbam myth.

The UK Higher Education store has some means of checking in that it requires that you order from a .ac.uk (Academic domain name) domain, which means that noone except academics can use it. I had to order from one of the computers in the Library (after a thorough check for Trojans of course!). £156 discount (that's 361.445 CAD or 286.870 USD). Very nice.:)

Very nice indeed :)

How much are you paying for your machine though?

Before shipping and taxes, my 20" with stock everything comes up to $2,099 CDN, so €1,313.97

Aye, there's the rub. £888 (2,058.22 CAD) before taxes. £1043 (2,417.17 CAD) after. Damn 17.5% VAT.

It's arrived.... but...

17.5% is a lot, isn't it!

Just letting everyone know that my imac was delivered this morning - however I'm on the otherside of the country right now and wont be able to play with it until Sat night (it's going to be a long day of work on Sat as I fly in sat morning, then straight to work!). I'm sorry to hear about everyone's TNT problems, in Australia, Apple uses Star Track Express, which delivered in 2 days, mind you I think my order was on 'In Manufacturing' when it was really making it's way from the factory to Aust, they only sent me the shipping status when it arrived in Aust. So all up I have waited about two weeks (4th of May till today, 19th) for my 20in with a 1gig ram and B/T keyboard and mouse.

RE EDU Store and not requiring ID: I'm not an EDU buyer, but when I bought from Apple I was asked to send a scan of my drivers liscense, and a scan of my last credit card bill for verification. I figured this was normal, but if it isn't and was indeed a random check, then I don't see why the EDU wouldn't have the same system in place.

We have 7% federal taxes then 7.5% provincial taxes applied over the federal taxed price, so it comes a tad over 15% here.

My order status estimates the price with taxes as $2,463.83 or £1542.36

On sunday I purchased a 17" iMac along with an airport express and printer.

The printer and AE shipped on monday and I got a tracking number for Same Day Right Away but it's still not in their database. I emailed them and found out that they don't put it in until the package reaches canada . The iMac isn't supposed to ship until the 25th. I sure hope they send that via fed ex.

:D, I can't wait. Everyday I check the status....at least twice.

If part of my order (accesories) shipped via Same Day do you know if my computer will? My last powerbook shipped via Fed Ex and I really liked that. I was able to track it from right when it was shipped. This same say really sucks ass.
