I'm going to pass on this release as I didn't see any trade in value worth jumping in ...

I'm thinking the AI stuff they are getting from a third party is Google right? And maybe why you only get a little bit of free time before Google charges Sammy and they pass along to the consumer..

If that's the case just get the awesome Pixel 8 Pro.

I helped build out the OpenAI in my firms test and QA Azure tenants a couple months ago. Soon to roll out to prod.
One specific use case we deployed is for the Help desk as a help assistant. When tech support gets a incident or work order or a customer call, the help desk agent can check in the AI chat bot for any knowledge based articles to help the customer. It has sped up the resolution times for that department.
Yup- generative AI is part of ServiceNow. The team that manages that stuff in my shop is "on it".

The photos that I take are just all over the place in terms of white balance and color tone. Some are incredible and others are very inaccurate. The speakers when listening to music sound muffled and have a noticeable echo for some reason. Lastly, when using BT earbuds at work notifications and calls play on the phone and the earbuds. The only way to stop it is to use silent mode, which I don't like. Can't use it for work as a result. It's a great phone just not for me this go-around.

The $50 off pre-order promo got emailed to me this morning, and Samsung added the Pixel 8 series to the eligible trade in devices. Decided to order the S24+ and Watch 6 for a grand total of $688 after all the promos, and also will get Rakuten 12% cash back. Apparently I got 10% Microsoft cash back as well. I love the look of the Watch 6 classic, who knows how my user experience will actually be, though.

Google trade in $600 for Fold or $450 for P8P is a definite pass for me ...both my Google phones are running top notch .. I'd rather sell them 3rd market ...BUT I will wait on other releases

I haven't received the $50 off pre-order promo yet. Were you able to directly apply it to the phone?

Edit- I did receive the e-mail earlier today. It was in my spam folder LOL

$50 additional applies to other items besides the phone itself.

On Swappa recent sales of mint 256gb P8P range from $650 to $700-ish, when I last checked. With selling fees and shipping (I always send UPS w/ insurance and signature required) it'd be closer to ~$600 coming to me, if that. I doubt it'd sell for $750. Worth the peace of mind to me, I'm aware of potential BS with Samsung trade-ins, hope for the best.

@edubfromktown - it was applied automatically when I logged in to place the order. It counted as an extra $50 to put towards accessories, etc.

Totally understand and good luck with Sammy's trade in ..I've had luck with all my past ones and I hope you get the same results

What a disappointment overall. They talked about AI features that will be paywalled anyway and who cares about 7 years of support if everyone is buying new phones every 2-3 years..
Exactly. Who buys top of the range smartphones and them keeps them 7 years. The batteries are worn out by year three!

but at the same time people applaud when Google and Apple support their devices for the same amount of time....

So by your logic...who cares if the paywall starts in 2 years because we all will have moved on to other devices.
Then by that time who knows if they even have a paywall in 2 years? Maybe by then they will have changed their minds because of the negative feedback?

Also i wouldn't expect this paywall to be in place by then. Samsung will backtrack and not make people pay i'm sure of that. All it takes is apple and google keeping it free for them to scrap that idea.

Huh not everyone throws their phone out after such a short time my OnePlus six is approaching five and half years old and none of my friends have phones newer than three years old. In fact a couple of them are using a smartphone over a decade old.

People who post on forums like this are not generally typical phone users.

In addition to camera degradation and charging for AI features, do you think the S24 has any other shortcomings? I had the intention to buy S24 before the launch, but so far, there is nothing particularly attractive about the S24 to me. But it is worth mentioning that purchase of the S24 will be free phone case and screen protector.

Where are people getting this idea there is a camera degradation, I’ve seen no evidence for this from any of the coverage I’ve seen.

Looks like the 50 credit is already on your account but it’s crap. You can only use it to purchase accessories 😖

In this side by side, I personally prefer every S23 U shot vs the new S24 Telephoto shot.

I think Samsung will issue a software update that will fix some of the camera softening. I’m looking forward to testing out the S24 Ultra when it arrives, if it doesn’t live up to my expectations I’ll send it back and try the Google Pixel 8 Pro instead.
