Seems like they have improved the display on the S24 Ultra. My concern at the moment is battery life. With all these new AI features and screen tech, will it reduce battery life.
I think the built in AI features and the SD3 will actually improve battery life. Some of the AI features are designed to help battery life.

Oh, I didn’t realise that. I honestly thought things like circle to search would be a draw on battery life.

Altho im wondering how Samsung can claim them as Galaxy AI when it’s Google that made them. I’ve noticed that the Circle to search feature will be coming to Pixel devices at the end of this month. Did Samsung copy Googles homework 😬

they partnered with Google on this feature. I think it is a good thing myself. I mean the Pixel has always be top notch with AI features and all the tech Google adds in for their phones. It seems Samsung has partnered with Google add some of that into the S24 models. That is a very good thing! Samsung has always had great hardware but lacked a little on the software side of things. But all the reviews I have seen for the AI features and One UI 6 says things are turning around for them.

I'm definitely looking forward to trying out the S24 Ultra, as well as the AI features. Fingers crossed the camera is improved too. One UI 6.1 looks great tbh. The clip they showed at the keynote also hinted at a software update for the Watch, I’ll be testing that out too since Samsung gave a free one with my pre-order.

I do like that Samsung give pre-order bonuses, Apple have never done this. This year Samsung has actually given those of us in the UK, some decent bonuses.

I wouldn't be worried about battery life. Everything I've read this is a great improvement on the S23U and even better than the 15PM. That said, I'm still on the fence. I love my Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Fold and am using my 15PM as well. Not sure I want to give up any of them for the S24U.

This is why I have been a loyal Samsung customer for so many years.

Samsung gives us financial incentives either in the form of high trade in value, freebies, extra storage/ram, etc or all of the above. Because of this, I have been able to afford Samsung devices on a more frequent basis and get newer stuff more often.

Samsung has also taken care of me in certain disputes or transactions and always given me the benefit of the doubt. I had to work for it by contacting more than one representative but eventually I have always been taken care of.

There are only a handful of companies that I can say this about. I don't have any illusions about it. It is good business for Samsung and keeps me coming back for more.

One of the things I think Samsung understands is a repeat customer is really important not to lose.

That’s good to know, i like to get the most out of battery life (like many do).

To give the Watch 6 (40mm) for free when pre-ordering, as well as £50 off and a free case and screen protector when registering for the event plus the free storage upgrade. It doesn’t even end there, we are also getting £30 credit on the Galaxy store AND 12 months of Disney+ for free, that alone is worth £109. This year i feel we have been given great deals here in the UK.

I also got an extra discount because my dad has a defence discount military card. In the end i got all of that for £1,011.36 which may seem like a lot but add all that up separately and it’s a BIG saving. The phone separately would have been £1,349 for the 512GB!! that’s a good saving on it’s own.

I personally plan on using the Watch 6 and seeing what’s changed from when i had the Watch 4 classic. I already have the Buds Pro 2 from when i had the S23 Ultra and they were giving them away, so im all set.

Software update for the Watch? What clip are you referring to?

I signed up for the Galaxy Watch 6 free entry… through the Wallet app, hopefully I’m able to get it. Currently rocking the Classic Watch 4… seriously considered upgrading to the Classic Watch 6, just didn’t see enough to warrant it.

But I’ll definitely take one for free!

I suppose it’s not that surprising to see that the only model in the S24 range not out of stock on Amazon UK is the baseline S24 now. I suppose there’s little incentive for people with say the S23 or S22 to upgrade to the baseline S24 compared to the other models as it’s the one with the least number of hardware upgrades.

The Ultra is always Samsung's golden baby. It gets all the attention and media hype. It is almost as if the s24 is an afterthought. I really think that Samsung needs to change this strategy. Economics are changing and these are not short term trends so having a really good product at different price points is more important even with carrier subsidies.

That being said I would not buy the regular s24 when the plus is so much better. Both the s24 and the s24 plus should have gotten some camera sensors upgrades. Kind of inexcusable not to put at least more megapixels and bigger sensors for light. 5x optical zoom?

I’m referring to the clip in this advert where the guy says “Samsung health helps me stick with it, it runs on AI now” later in the advert it shows how “AI analyses my body and helps to keep me on track”

Those are features that are surely coming by an update.

You can no longer hide the gesture bar in OneUI 6.1... Why, Samsung?! Why?? I turned that feature on every time I purchased a Samsung device.
You can't be serious?

I guess this is the price of partnering with Google.

I really hope there is a work around. I deal with it on my Pixel because it is a Pixel but not on a Galaxy.

Damn that sucks. I like using the stock home app instead of using Nova launcher or something like that.

Anyone use a Pixel watch 2 with a Galaxy phone? Like an s23 series? How does it work? What features do you lose out on if not using a Pixel phone?

Just curious 🤔. I was thinking about getting the watch 6 but I don't really want two Android smartwatches and my Pixel watch 2 was free so I skipped.

But I think the Galaxy watch 6 is probably a better overall smartwatch than the Pixel. At least there is no subscription to use all the features of the watch.

Anyone try a Pixel watch 2 and a Galaxy watch 6? Which did you prefer and why?

Huh not everyone throws their phone out after such a short time my OnePlus six is approaching five and half years old and none of my friends have phones newer than three years old. In fact a couple of them are using a smartphone over a decade old.

People who post on forums like this are not generally typical phone users.
True but top of the range smartphones are usually bought by people who want the latest and greatest. Not many people will fork our for the best and then keep it for 7 long years.

not sure why everyone cares about the stupid bar on the bottom, the iphone has it .. nobody complains
The Home bar doesn't bother me on iOS since all apps incorporate it properly. Most Android apps still don't--take a look at how Android apps still have a black bar behind the gesture bar when it's supposed to be translucent like the iOS Home bar instead.

The nav bar takes up space even within most apps. The iOS dock does not show within apps.

Not gonna lie, I didn't realize those were screenshots. I thought MacRumors wasn't loading properly on my phone and refreshed the page a bunch lol.

I feel like Samsung just wants to keep copying iPhone. And that makes me sad as I just got an S23 to switch over

Whut? Samsung has been moving us away from those 3 buttons for ages and now I'm fully gesture-compliant I have to go back to using those 3 OLED-burning buttons? Can someone with a S24U explain this a bit better?

I'm guessing that it's just the small gesture bar that would be forced. This is usually a horizontal gray line near the bottom of the display, with a bit of blank space above and below. It feels like a small waste of screen real estate, but perhaps some apps don't work properly when the bar is hidden.
