This was low light last night. I was tapping to focus on the doggo but I think the phone just really struggled with the lack of light.

I took the same photo on the Pixel 8 Pro and this was the result.

It’s pretty night and day. These are the kind of scenarios reviewers seem to just not detail. Instead we get city shots of rows of lit up shops to test night modes and “low light” which most of these modern phones are pretty good at because despite it being dark, there’s still a large light source to help out.

Unfortunately, the camera so far is very disappointing. Bear in mind this is just the regular S24 and not the Ultra which I’m sure has a much better camera set up. But for £799, this is pretty bad IMO.

I haven't been that wowed by the camera on the S23U to be honest. Macro is pretty pants, it shows red as being orange and detail is pretty poor. It's OK for quick snaps but beyond that it disappoints.

Wow, that is horrible. Apparently my S24+ delivers tomorrow but UPS still shows "preparing for shipment" so who knows. But the dog will be my first test for the camera. I can't imagine Samsung would leave as-is, that is truly horrible.

Wow that is terrible on the S24 side, it’s making me wish i had gone for the Pixel 8 Pro instead. That being said Samsung do push out updates for their phone cameras through the year, they tend to improve over time, BUT Samsung shouldn't release phones in this state!!!

That matches my experience with the s23 plus. Sucked indoors esp when taking pics of my dog which is why I ended up with a pixel 8 pro

If you use screen protectors to protect from micro scratches, then this might be the first phone where a screen protector isn't necessary. Amazing.

Outside of the camera, the phone itself is pretty great. Love the screen, love the size and how fast it is. Haptics are ok, not as good as pixel but pretty good.
Battery life seems to be solid too considering it is smaller device.

I think for the people the S24 is catering to, it’s solid. But for me, it’s lacking massively in the camera and i don’t think I’d be able to get on with One UI long term. There are things about it I do like, but other things I don’t. Wont bore with that as I’m sure people don’t really care, but for me it’s stock or nothing when it comes to Android.

Directly comparing this to a Pixel 8 at £100 less, there’s absolutely zero competition in my eyes. But every one has different wish lists and preferences. 👍🏻

Hi all I've just received mine not had chance to check it out as been at work is anyone else facing the whole dull washed out colors compared to the s23 ultra?

And if so do you all think it maybe a software bug

Orange s24 Ultra delivered and all set up.
Samsung Switch seems to be 100% better then previous. Also loving how you no longer have to reset the Samsung watch to transfer it to a new phone.
So far, very happy!
Off topic but which watch are you using?

that's due to the anti-glare they have on the screen now.

And you know for sure that there's no camera tweaks coming soon?

Dull display - nope!

Charging issues - nope!

What phone is released 100% without issues on day one? I guess we are forgetting that Apple had to release a fix for overheating iPhone 15's shortly after launch. Can't believe they released a phone in that state 😳

Not saying the S24 ultra is perfect by any means but it's been out on public release for one day!
Yep many forget too quickly the bug fest the IP15 was on release

At least with Samsung you are well compensated for being an early adopter to the sum of $200-500

With Apple you get zip and just the bugs

I cannot get over how dull and washed out the display is on the S24U, even on Vivid mode. In fact, switching from Natural to Vivid makes barely any difference.
Don't know if this is a bug that can be ironed out by a software update, or if it's down to the anti-glare screen.
What I do know is that comparing directly with an S23 Ultra, the Ultra screen just pops far more. Disappointing to say the least.

I think its effecting the non Ultra modles of the s24 aswell which don't have the anti glare on them 🤔

I'm hoping it's just a glitch with vivid mode and get patched

My Buddy just tried the S24U out in Thailand on the most popular msg app there "Line". The AI translation worked like a dream according to him

This is a real game changer for him as he works with many clients in chat groups along with Thai's and other nationalities

This is a no brainer and an instant buy, he was a long time IPhone user

Hope this rolls out to the Fold 5 soon as I am in KL next week and Thailand soon after :)

Played around with it at the NYC Samsung experience store today. It's odd to not see a curved screen I will admit. I like the anti reflective screen. I tried the ai in the gallery and it's fun to use but not game changing. It wasn't perfect but fun to show off. I have the S23 ultra so I won't upgrade but if you have an older Galaxy device then it's worthwhile. I'm hoping for a thinner Fold with a great camera.

I cancelled my order. S24U is inferior to 15PM so no reason to switch.

I love this.... 😂 Lol

Here we go with the Samsung bashing like every year.

Inferior garbage, blah, blah, blah.

I can understand if you actually got the phone and then decided that you liked the iPhone 15 Pro Max but a statement like that made above doesn't pass the smell test.

Why would you cancel your order based on rumors or some people's experiences? Why not see for yourself and if there is an issue just return it?? You have a 14 day return period?

But no, cancel an order before you get the device and then say it is inferior to your iPhone even though you never actually compared them in a real life test. Makes sense to me.

As to the washed out screen I think it is too early to tell if it is a widespread issue or not. I think it would affect all models since they all have the same brightness and screen tech just a lower resolution on the s24.

To be honest, color balance has never been a strong point and an area Samsung can improve even with the manual adjustment which I like I can never replicate the warmer tone color temperature that I get on a Pixel vs Galaxy phones.

I would really like to know if all of them have a higher PWM like the Ultra or not?
