As someone who usually prefers Pixel UI I have to say that OneUI is pretty fun. With Good Lock it reminds me of Android many years ago when rooting was a thing. There is so much to tinker with.
It's great to be able to hide statusbar icons, use different icon packs and fonts, change colors and even change things in the settings menu.
The Pixel launcher suddenly feels very limited.

Fingers crossed the update will arrive today!

Just on the washed out screen, my S24 is definitely not as vivid as previous Samsungs I have had. But for me this is a good thing. I absolutely hate Samsung displays normally, as their colours are too over saturated and neon, but the S24 I have the screen is literal perfection. Great colours.
I do agree though, the difference between vivid and natural is tiny. So it seems it caters more to those who prefer more muted screens with no good option for those wanting a screen that pops.

No update likely anytime soon

So far the experience is as expected it's a great device but image tuning needs an update but certain areas are better. Greens seem so much better than on previous Samsung phones

yeah exactly! so even on this 1st rev launch software, I'm seeing a more natural colour balance in shots which to my eye at least is an improvement.

Whoa, Samsung keyboard got good when?!
Giving Gboard a run for it's money here. I love the key press sounds and the customisation of it. Also, the text prediction and correction is top notch!

I've found that putting intelligent optimisation on minium helps. Changing a few settings for the camera has helped a bit. Samsung definitely need to update the camera software though.

I bought this, I like it but I feel uncomfortable using it. Not sure why, but I really miss my iPhone. This is so dumb. I've been with iPhone for over 12 years, for just one year - as I am not upgrading my 14 pro max to a 15 pro max - I thought I'd try out an Android. I picked up an S24 Ultra and S9 Ultra tablet due to a very generous deal on Samsungs side. They are great devices, but I just can't shake this out of my comfort zone feeling, and I just want to run back to my iPhone.

This has to be the most asinine, self entitled and first world privileged post I have ever written and I feel disgusting for it, but I am just being honest.

Do what's right for you, I often do this myself so you're not on your own. I had the S23 Ultra twice last year, sold them both in the end and stuck with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I've just brought the S24 Ultra, I'll probably end up getting the iPhone 16 Pro Max in September.

There's nothing wrong with preference, whether that's for iPhone or Samsung, Pixel or whatever it may be. If you can keep 2 phones going maybe do that, if not decide which one you like best.

I think if you've used a certain o/s for years then you're going to feel most comfortable using that same o/s for the foreseeable. I absolutely couldn't go back to iPhones. I tried an iPad last year and utterly hated it. Thank goodness I got a good price for it on Ebay. For me iOS sucks so bad.😊

Which phone case are you currently using? The S24 ultra is large and difficult to grip, and I'm considering buying a case with a built-in ring to make it easy to grip.

Consider the Speck Presidio Grip case. It has a nice rubber like grip.

I don't think we should sleep on Apple though they are the underdog in this AI race and could seriously bring some tantalising innovation to iOS.

you could be right. Not going to count Apple out. But given their track record with Siri and how far behind it has lagged. I am not too confident they can catch up right now.

Just wanted to write a note regarding my trade in experience here in the UK. Sent my S23 Ultra back yesterday (I used special delivery because I didn't want to take the risk on standard post). Had an email from Samsung an hour ago today saying they'd received it and that my order was now complete. A 24 hour turnaround is super quick and now my mind is at ease!

Wait a min… so, Samsung doesn’t go through the process of checking for damages or anything on your S23U? Once it’s received... They approve it?

Because my mind wouldn’t be at ease until everything is approved... the received status is half the battle.

That's what I mean - they've received, checked and confirmed that everything is done and the order is now complete. I checked and they had the phone back at 8:18am this morning, and then had the confirmation email from them that everything was good just after 2pm.

I thought it would be at least mid-way through next week before I heard back.

I received nothing about my tradein apart from a badly photocopied 1 pager that just says "affix the label as on the right" with nothing on the right :) so am I right in thinking, device+spen only... no power supplies or anything else needed to be returned?

You are. Just the phone and stylus needed and nothing else. Stick the free delivery label on the packaging on the outside of the blue bag they sent you.

If you decide to send via special delivery then still stick the freepost sticker on the bag (as this has your customer reference number that Samsung will use printed on it). When you get to the post office just tell them you want to upgrade the delivery to special (cost me £8.15). They'll do the rest and give you a tracking number.
