I decided that it was time to get a new Android so I got an unlocked S24 Ultra today. Like always, I'll continue using my iPhone as I have over 13,000 songs on it and that's what I use in the car for music and I use CarPlay. I'll use the Android things including some work tasks like I do the iPhone. I just like having both. I have a case coming for the Android tonight.

Last Android I bought and still have was the Note 10+. I don't upgrade phones very often anymore and my iPhone is still the 13 Pro Max.

Here's how I managed to successfully transition out of the Apple ecosystem to avoid being tied to it:

**Notes:** I switched from Apple Notes to Google Keep

**iCloud Photos:** I moved all my photos from iCloud Photos to Google Photo

**Fitness Data:** I exported all my fitness data from Apple Health to Google Fit using Fitness Synce

**iCloud Contacts:** I transferred all my contacts from iCloud to Gmail Contact

**Airdrop Alternative:** I use LocalSend as an alternative to Airdrop

I currently have both an iPhone 15 Pro Max and a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The only downside is that I can't easily transfer my WhatsApp messages from my S24 ultra to my iphone without setting up the phone as new, which is a hassle.

I'm really enjoying my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and haven't used my iPhone 15 Pro Max since I got it.

PS: Galaxy AI writing style used 😀
Whats-app allows you to have it on 2 devices, so no need to set-up as new, just as secondary device :)

That's brilliant, didn't know that you can link Android as primary and iPhone as secondary, does the chat sync on both phones and if you want to make secondary as primary, is it possible? will look into that, thanks

It is possible either way around

Everything is synced as long as Internet is available

You can even have 2 separate WhatsApp accounts on a single phone

I know you can have duplicate accounts on a Samsung device, didn’t know you could do it on iOS

Not too sure on iOS yet as android is always ahead on roll out of new WhatsApp features but it should be in the works or soon to come

You can even have 2 separate WhatsApp accounts on a single phone

Here are 2 ways to setup and take advantage of Multiple WhatsApp Accounts

1)

How To Enable The Feature
  1. Open WhatsApp and tap the three dots in the top right corner.
  2. Select 'Settings' and then go to 'Account. '
  3. Tap 'Add account' and follow the prompts to set up the second account.
  4. Once set up, switch between accounts by tapping the three dots and selecting 'Account. '
2)

Meanwhile if you have a Samsung device, here is how you can run two WhatsApp accounts
  • Go to settings.
  • Click on Advanced Features and scroll down in search of Dual Messenger.
  • From the options provided, click on WhatsApp.
  • Now go to the App launcher and start setting up your second WhatsApp account.
NOTE this is a different form of having multiple WhatsApps when you have the luxury of owning a SAMSUNG phone

This is correct - it's Android only for now when it comes to having two accounts on one device.

there is a work-around though on iOS by downloading the Official WhatsApp and WhatsApp for Business and setup 2 different accounts on these separate Apps but both on a single iPhone

Thanks for the tip! I too am looking to switch to the s24 from a 13 pro. The only thing holding me back is the migration. I have one password but don’t have a Mac to export all my passwords. How has the transition overall been?

Unfortunately apple makes it really hard to export passwords or anything really, there is no option on iPhone to export password ( only on Mac), however there is icloud password extension on chrome window, try via that way if it lets you export all passwords into chrome, then csv and 1password.

Transition will always be hard initially , i am not new to Android and had S23 ultra and Z fold 5 briefly but s24 Ultra is diff beast and made decision easy, I can be called apple fanboy as had iPhone since 3g and upgraded every year but 24U destroys iPhone in my opinion and is miles ahead, i am quiet techy so have patience to deal with issues, some things are better on iPhone and in other things Android is much better and overall package, once you are passed initial hurdle then there is no going back. just to give you few examples of which makes my life easier on S24U:

  • On iPhone i could never run the protective battery ( despite having significant location and other location service on), On S24U, i run a simple routine to enable battery protection over night which keep the phone charge to 80 and then charge fully before i wake up - Easy
  • Other routine to extend unlock so phone stays unlocked when connected to home wifi.
  • Other day had to sign doc in the office , tried iPhone ( no luck), tried mac (no luck), normal way would be to print doc, sign it off and then scan back, On S24U i opened the doc on S-notes , signed with Spen and sent it- Simple
  • Need to take a quick note, Spen out write it down and done.
  • I won't even go to customisation and stuff, with S24U i have a powerful pc in my pocket which is capable to do many more things which is restricted on iPhone, in my opinion Samsung has hit apple out of park with S24 Ultra and it is only 1st iteration of Galaxy AI.

Sorry for long post but it might help people who are trying to make move, if you are past first few weeks of using diff OS and muscle memory then there is no denying Android is miles ahead of iOS.

Hope this helps.

What AI features do you guys think we could see next in OneUI 7? Are they dependant on Google or is Samsung able to develop their own AI features?

I would like to see AI in the lockscreen and home screen, changing all kinds of stuff depending on calendar events, location, time of day, etc. More AI features on web browsers would also be useful.

This is extremely helpful, thank you! I have an old s10 plus that I’ve been fussing with at home. It’s good, but seems laggy. I’m sure the 24 is much better. As you said, there are things I see that are so much better on android.. customization aside, that I can’t do on iPhone and vice versa. I currently have a 13 pro so I’m deciding which model to go with. I want the better battery life so it’s either gonna be the plus or the ultra. I’ve held the ultra and it seems huge. Is the only advantage over the plus the s pen? I know there are tons of differences, but what will I notice in the day to day? Again, thanks for your feedback.

The pixel 8 is reduced down on Amazon UK would you say it or the base S24 which costs more is better long term. I did try an S24+ but sent it back as I wanted something that wasn’t so heavy financially. There are offers on the S24, £75 off. Both have monthly payments. Which is better bang for its buck?

As someone else said, you feel the pain on initial setup and then smooth sailing after that. I made the switch in January. Samsung's smart switch was actually good in my case, I don't recall if it also transfers app settings over but I believe it does? I ended up resetting and setting up as new as I always do, just because, but the transfer went smoothly.

Install Google photos on your iPhone and / or Mac and then sync your photos to it. If you have all of your media elsewhere, upload it to Google photos. It helps with the transition to disable iCloud photos so that the new media only gets synced with Google.

Importing passwords to Chrome from iCloud is easy if you are using a PC / iCloud for Windows. Then from there export to your password manager of choice. I use Bitwarden. Password managers can be finicky initially with Android compared to iOS from my experience. Again, feel the pain once and then done. You need to edit settings and permissions to get the password manager to pop up for web browsing in addition to apps.

I've found myself to be much quicker with all of my tasks compared to iOS, now that I'm quite used to the S24+ as my only phone. The phone is so much more responsive in comparison, you can really feel it in day to day use. Eventually the iOS appeal will wear off and you won't miss it. (I say this now, who knows come September, Lol).

If you really want to get into the weeds, get a Mac Mini and use BlueBubbles with the S24+. iMessage has been flawless for me since setting it up and will tide me over until Apple supports RCS.

Don't hesitate to try the S24, you can always return it.

I’m curious… What tasks are you referring to?

Did you set BlueBubbles up with Private API? And I wonder how well RCS will mix with iMessage… both requires server to function.

And what features come with iMessage perform over RCS… might find out near the end of the year over a iOS 18.x.x update because I highly doubt it will come on the first iOS 18 release.

The most basic tasks such as typing and navigating between apps using HomeUp. The multi app view is so handy. Within apps I've been quicker navigating. The phone is just more responsive, more of an intangible to me.

I run MacOS Sonoma on the Mac Mini and set up the private API, works perfectly and feels like native iMessage. I downloaded the version from their Github which supports Android Auto. Right, who knows when Apple will support RCS, and even then, how will it interact with RCS.
