I too find myself doing tasks faster on the S24+ vs my old iPhone 12. The navigation buttons are very handy (specially the back button, which you can put on the right or to the left for your liking), the pull down for notification panel gesture is a godsend on a big phone, animations are faster on OneUI vs iOS (therefore making the phone feel faster than an iPhone), scrolling is much faster overall (on iOS it's slower on purpose by design) and with just one simple quick pull you can go to the bottom of a webpage for example, there are more quick panel buttons on OneUI than on iOS (I use a lot the GPS one. On iOS I had to go to settings and privacy to turn on/off location services. I don't need the GPS on all the time, just when I use Google maps), etc.

The biggest thing I miss from iOS is the integration I had between my iPhone and iPad, which was awesome (specially for picture syncing). But I don't own an iPad anymore.

yeah I was talking to @mjschabow about that. If someone hasn't used an iphone as their main phone for a decent time, maybe they'd find it easier, but for those of us who have, we sometimes end up trying to configure the s24u to act like an iphone which is kinda crazy just to get the bits that we really do love on android like the back button, the configurability etc.

For many people I think there just comes a time when they say forget it, just easier to stick with the iPhone for now.
Yep! And it's funny how we all differ. I looooooooooooved the S23 Ultra. But I post to Facebook a ton with being a musician, and the fact that I couldn't use Google Photos as my default photo app was so mind boggling and really made posting much more difficult.

I'll paint the scenario here. I prefer Google Photos over Samsung photos by a mile. So I go on a trip and take 200 pictures and mark 20 of them favorite that I want to post to Facebook. I go to the Facebook app to post them (I prefer to do it this way because Facebook is weird if you select the photos first and then share them) and I do not have the option to share from Google Photos...instead it defaults to the Samsung Photos app.

This limitation got in the saw several times and just became tiring. The Ultra was a lot more fun to use, but it's the little things like this that got me to go crawling back to iPhone.

I can relate to this big time. I ended up doing the same. It is the little things usually that has be going back to Apple. The Apple Watch being another reason, I’m yet to find a smart watch that’s as good in my opinion.

I’ve just ordered a Pixel 8 Pro in the new mint colour. Never owned a Pixel so thought I would give it a try.

You guys and your constant phone dilemmas. ☺️
I went from iPhone to Android and stayed there. The secret is not being reliant on iMessages and not keeping an iPhone around to constantly swap back to.

Also if you're massively set in your ways and do certain things in a particular manner then you're probably best off just sticking with what you know.

You're welcome.🤓

I just like tech, I like trying new phones. The problem for me and a few other people it seems is that while the iPhone is very reliable, IOS is boring. It's for that reason I like to see what others have to offer.

Yes. I like the "challenge" of change (to get my aging mind to learn new things) and stick with wherever I end up without going back or ping ponging back and forth in purgatory LOL

I can still converse in iMessage land on my Mac if needed. Only did it twice in the past 4 years when someone replied to an all-iphone group chat out of nowhere and I saw a notification.

Also, prefer defaulting to local Photos on my S24+ not bloody Google Photos or Samsung photos.

@Tig Bitties Did you end up keeping your S24 Ultra, or did you send it back?

I did keep the S24U, but having a hard time making a final decision, been SIM swapping daily for about a week now.

The S24U is clearly the better built, better designed, with way better [H]hardware phone. Fact.

But... There is just some special magic with the Pixel phone, I can't seem to give up, even though the Galaxy is shockingly a smoother faster phone.

I kind of still prefer the Pixel feel in hand and just picking it up and using it.

I think at the end of the day... you gravitate toward the Pixel.

At least, you were able to experience what the S24U had to offer and left satisfied with it... if the Pixel didn't exist, you would have most certainly daily drove the Ultra.

I can understand that, i have an iPhone 15 Pro Max at the moment and I’ve ordered a Pixel 8 Pro. It’s due to be delivered either tomorrow or Sunday, I gave in and ordered one because the OS looks great, I’ve never tried a Pixel before but I shall give it a chance.

They are all great OSes. I spent more than a decade with iOS and have an aversion to it at this point.

For me the few proprietary apps that haven't been adb nuked, 3rd party extras, added Samsung features and superior hardware outweigh Pixel "pureness" and the best mobile camera/photo integration.

I've "made friends" with S24+ camera and app well enough to understand nuances and limitations. When in doubt, it is DSLR to the rescue.

Hopefully I can get on with the Pixel OS and if the camera is as good as they say, then I’m sure I will love it.

I take it there are widgets like on the Samsung S24 Ultra? What’s app and Apple Music for example.

going to be really interested in what you think!

I found it a bit small for my hands after being used to the s24u/15pm and I kept missing little extras that were on the samsung.

BUT camera wise just out of the box in auto I felt it did do a great job

Yea as someone who’s used iPhone (still have my 15 Pro Max) and Samsung Ultra models, it’s going to be interesting for me to try a Pixel since I’ve never tried one before.

I just want something that’s not as boring as the iPhone when it comes to letting me customise, has a great camera (especially since I’ve started getting into Astrophotography), battery life that can get me through the day since I charge my phone at bedtime and through the night anyway, and is reliable.

The Pixel Ui looks really nice, I like the Pixel clock that’s a weird shape and the weather widget that’s also a weird shape. It’s things like that.

I just hope I can have a similar WhatsApp widget to what I did on the S Ultra models I’ve had. The widget where I can place it on the Home Screen and it shows the message when a person reply’s or messages me.

Yes, I posted a link to an anti reflective tempered glass screen protector in a previous post. Otherwise if you use any screen protector that doesn't have an AR coating it is like effectively not having an AR coating.

Just search this thread for anti reflective screen protector. I don't have the link off hand. I think the brand is Flolab?

Nice shots! Is that Mt Fuji? Beautiful.

I just have to say I really love the s24 ultra more than I have any phone in a long time. I genuinely dgood. on't want to use anything else and when I do it just feels like a toy compared to the s24 ultra. Not to disrespect any other phone as this is just a personal feeling that has developed over time using this phone and it all has to do with the FLAT anti reflective screen and uniform bezels.

The battery life and performance have been unmatched so far in anything but an iPhone. The speakers are so nice and the cameras are finally IMHO good. Like really good. S24 Ultra may not be the best but the software is so much better and the hardware is excellent in terms of the cameras.

I love my Pixel 8 Pro and I had the same feeling with it when I got it. I still love the Pixel and the screen is amazing. So I feel lucky to have it as a backup and alternative. I am going to sell my Pixel watch 2 though. I don't see a need for it and I don't like the subscription model. I like the interface a bit better on the Pixel but the screen is too small and the bezels too big. They could have used a much better screen in the same size device which would have been a win, win. I only have a little left to pay off the Pixel and if I sell the watch it should pay the rest off. Then I have a nice back up phone and the s24u as my main driver.

I've been craving the S24U for well over 2 months now, it just does not go away, I am really tempted to buy it, and so I think I will. It is the only phone I would consider apart from iPhone, which is super reliable, but insanely boring phone. I can't just try it and then return it, not possible in the country I live in, so I have to pay cash and then sell my iPhone, it's a hassle, but I don't think I'll have peace of mind until I get the Ultra..

Which color do you recommend? I was slightly underwhelmed by natural titanium when I seen it in the store so I am thinking about the black one, not a fan of the violet one, and the online exclusive colors are not available here..
