My order receipt / status says that my estimated delivery date is between May 12 and May 15. Since I placed my order this past Monday, I don't expect to receive it May 7. However, I would assume that it would have to ship sometime this week to make it between May 12-15.

My 32 gig was shipped on May 5th & is scheduled for delivery on May 10th. Interesting thing is that it arrived in Memphis this morning directly from HK, i.e., it bypassed AK. Two separate recents orders (case & cables) went through AK.

jus to check, is it possible to change the shipping address once the shipment is in progress? well, it would be in the same city just a different address.

:)

64 3g ordered on 4/26. After 2 1/2 days of prepped to ship, just got the shipment notification. The email says due the 12th, however Fedex tracking info estimates *if* it goes out today, I'll have it on the 10th.

We'll to keep some up to date on my saga; here is the e-mail I got from UPS yesterday evening...

Thank you for your e-mail. Our records indicate your shipment is scheduled for delivery on 05/06/10, pending normal Customs clearance. You can expect delivery by 10:30 AM.

Sounds great.....except here is the latest tracking from UPS from this morning...

Now maybe is has secretly entered into the country, arrived at its destination area and out for delivery without being detected
:D

It appears to me that the planes or jets can only hold a certain amount of items and maybe they overloaded the aircraft, but these people calling UPS will only make it worse. What is a few days of waiting? Nothing is guaranteed.

When you call UPS and tell them you want to know where your package is, some little guy problem goes out to the plane and has to physically remove your package or some **** like that, and take it to an office or something like that. IDK. I never worked for them but I do know complaining because your package is showing a status that may or may not be correct will probably just further delay your package.

Let me assure you that NOBODY is going to track down a plane, unload a container, break seal on the container, unload the container - just to find some Joe Schmoe's package because he or she's too impatient to wait for their toy.

Also, calling UPS CS can not speed up or slow down your package. I guarantee you this.

I know that is completely false. They never physically go and check your package. As for nothing is guaranteed well that is false too. Express shipping through UPS is guaranteed by a certain date by 1030AM. Complaining will not slow the package progress.

What is happening here is Apple and UPS negotiated a nice little deal. UPS would offer dirt cheap shipping prices for Apple as long as Apple didn't ask for a refund of the money. Why do you think Apple was offering free express shipping?

64 GB 3G Ordered April 20th:

Prepared for Shipment on May 4th.
Item Shipped this morning.
Expected May 12th.

If calling UPS or Apple inquiring about the estimated delivery day after the original delivery date has passed causes problems then they have bigger problems with their operations. As I have said in other posts I could care less (for the most part) if it gets here a day or week late (it's a birthday gift for my wife in two weeks); but don't send me a e-mail on 5-2 (Saturday) with a tracking number that says delivery on 5-4 (Tuesday), then on 5-3 (Sunday) show exception on the delivery date and no change in status for four days without some sort of revised delivery time. I think that is reasonable to expect, if not how long would anyone wait until thay e-mail or call to inquire?

3-days sitting is tolerable (I've been stranded as long trying to get back to the USA from Mumbai!)

I also received my UPS response #2 which appears to be a common template:
Response (Latoya L.)
Dear ,

Thank you for your response. We have just received an update on the airline off-load exceptions. Both Apple and UPS are aware of the airlift capacity constraints due to the number of shipments being made. Your shipment will be moving as soon as possible.

I understand your point of view, and I am truly sorry for the misunderstanding and confusion associated with this shipment. For further updates, you may continue to monitor your shipment at the following link:

Latoya L.: Thank-you for confirming what I suspected. I appreciate that the logistics of international shipping are complicated. After some searching on the status, "*THE AIRLINE OFF-LOADED PACKAGES*", it appears this occurs frequently with UPS. Would it be possible for you to escalate this to the next tier of support to attempt to find clarification for the situation? Thank-you for your continued assistance.

Best regards,

Again, no complaints. I suspect they are strictly bound with respect to their written responses, so I'm sure this is the result from some strong legal guidance ;-)

Wiltjk does your tracking show any delivery date estimate? Mine does not. Oh and by the way I ordered the 64 gig version so if you did not please tell your Ipad not try and steal any gigs from mine :D

Like you, Tulsacoker, my unit is 64 GB (that really didn't come out right, did it?)

No estimated delivery date, however, I'm not surprised. From previous shipments from China, the next road block is clearing customs. Once cleared, UPS has been quite accurate with their estimates state-side.

Figure what better time for my first post.

I also have a 32 gig with the same ship and delivery dates. Also have same tracking info so at least we are not alone.

Quick update from UPS tracking..

Guess it finally moving.....but delivery today looks unlikely. Hey Chris any update on yours?

nope mine still shows in HK. And no help from apple the usual refusal to help and telling me complaining will void the warrent and refund policy

Finally after all my polite phone calls, I told apple to cram it and file for HK citizenship for the ipad,

Sorry to hear that Chris.... but at least one more citizen in HK won't be noticed :D. Hell for all we know it may have already been adopted to some nice young family

I was starting to wonder if mine was in the HK market being sold.

Anchorage, Alaska woooooh hoooo! I bought mine on 4/23. They must be on the same plane.

Same exact tracking to the minute. May 7th delivery.

The plane should be on it's way to the mainland by now, the next scan event on my already-delivered camera connection kit which followed the same route was for 6:05am west coast time (arrived local fedex facility)!!

It'll be here tomorrow!! (Wifi+3G 32GB purchased on 4/19 shipped 5/3)

Mine shipped via Fedex on 5/3. It is scheduled to be here tomorrow by noon. The last i heard it left Anchorage, AK and has been in transit for the past 24 hours. I wonder if its just gonna show up on my door step with out anymore updates? 24 hours is a long time in transit.

I ordered mine on 4/20 and it shipped on May 4th. Mine shows to be in transit from Anchorage, AK currently, and has shown this for 24 hours too!! Estimated delivery is May 7th (tomorrow) by 10:30am. We will just have to see if it arrives on time.

yeah mine says by noon tomorrow. I think it will be there on time. I am so excited I can't wait though!

I also show a delivery by 10:30 Friday. It has been in transit from Anchorage for 24 hours also. I have been checking the tracking like every 15 minutes! I think I have a problem...

Second day of Prepared for shipment. I hope it gets changed to Shipped Soon. the anticipation is killing me. I was hoping i would have it before mothers day. So i can show it off on mothers day. but it looks like not.

Who's making the "Ships in 5-7 business days" thread? JK. Judging by the banter in here I'm guessing mine won't arrive until the latter part of the shipping window (May 8th - 14th). Ordered 16GB 3G on April 30th.
