Ordered a 64GB 3G on April 26th. Been sitting at "Prepared for Shipment" since I checked when I woke up yesterday morning...

Look at the trend in this thread and calling around, I think all of the iPads come in Waves. All of the "It could Come Daily" isn't quite as relevant to those of us who ordered through the online store. It seems like the pack like 4 or 5 day's worth of iPads (WiFi and 3G) on a plane in then it comes over (barring odd holds like what we saw earlier in this thread).

I bet the ones in the Apple store are in various warehouses in the country being distributed via ground somehow.

It's an interesting point... I wonder if we'll see any correlation with store availability and online store delivery days....

It seems a lot of us are getting online orders on Friday... Maybe a big day for store deliveries too?

My first UPS Response

I submitted a complaint to UPS after waiting two days on the tarmac, here's their response:

Dear ,

Thank you for your inquiry. The scan 'the airline off-loaded packages' indicates that the aircraft that your shipment was loaded on had to be unloaded. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide details to determine why the unload took place. Our records show your packages are currently in transit to its destination. I am unable to provide a revised scheduled delivery date at this time.

I apologize for the delay of your shipment. For the latest tracking information, please continue to track your shipments at the following link:

What is your question or comment? On the tarmac for two days for an EXPRESS package? Please explain.

I have replied requesting escalation to the next tier level at support. We'll see what transpires...

The packages may just have not been scanned. i've seen things clear customs but it did not show up until it landed and contents were sorted and scanned and put on the next step of your journey.

To be honest, I have a feeling you are going to piss them off, and your package is going to be delayed some how. You know nothing in life is certain, including delivery dates.

Prepared for shipment. damn i hope it comes soon. ordered mine april 24th

Said ships by May 7th so I took that to mean it'll arrive next week.

I'm hoping they are not taking orders one week *all last week or the last two weeks* and shipping them at the end of this week.

I was quoted that it would arrive between may 7-12 and I'm hoping it comes on the 7th and that it has been in transit and that UPS or FedEx fumbled the tracking.

I've had that happen before where ive ordered from a company that had their products made some where else and it was shipped a day or two before you got the actual notification but was sitting in customs

wishful thinking, i know.

do they deliver on saturday?

iPad Wifi came on a Saturday so yeah they do deliver on that day. When I ordered the 3G it said ships by May 7th though not delivers by May 7th.

Shipping notice this morning. Says I'll have it "by" May 12th.

my ipad 64gb 3g was jus shipped. ordered 23rd apr. via fedex.
estimated date of arrival - 10th may.

I'd be pissed if I were you - I ordered 4/26 and mine is in transit and scheduled for delivery tomorrow. 64GB Wifi + 3G

no sense in trying to tell apple you are mad. they have a new tactic to tame unhappy customers.
I ihad another wonderful talk with apple last night. got through to a supposed supervisor.
And he said the only people who are complaining at late shipments are the ones who are trying to resell them. and i said dont start this is the first and only product i have ordered. And wont ever order again and i am going to return it the minute i get
And he then said this can/would void my warrenty and any rights to return the item for a refund told me told me to look at the website and hung up.

So apples new way to tame the unhappy people is to threaten them with no warrenty or returns

by the way if anyone thinks or says they cant do that they can! it is clearly stated on the website
thy sell to end users only. and can and will cancel if they "think you are buying it for resale"
and since they clearly state state that it completely legal for them to do this to me. He pointed that out

Even though i am buying it for myself and they have no real reason to think i am reselling it, it doesn't matter. It is obvious they have a new tool to screw legit consumers

Wow that's shocking customer service. I wonder if they're always like this, or if it's a result of the thousands of calls they're receiving about when the Ipad is shipping, why etc etc.

The truth

Well after ripping UPS a new butt hole for sending me a form letter I got a real response with the actual truth. Yes indeed Apple and UPS both know about this. They are lying. Imagine that:

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your reply. We have just received an update on the airline off-load exceptions. Both Apple and UPS are aware of the airlift capacity constraints due to the number of shipments being made. Your shipment will be moving as soon as possible.

I understand your point of view, and I am truly sorry for the misunderstanding and confusion associated with this shipment. For further updates, you may continue to monitor your shipment at the following link:

Notice the "Both Apple and UPS" part. At least I got them to admit that UPS is too cheap to have enough aircraft to get the job done.
