Trying to get Speck to replace my Apple Program cases for new ones. But since they don't have the black one in stock I asked them if it would be possible for them to exchange them for two candyshells (one indywhoa and one palemoon). Does anyone know of specks does that?

They have been offering to do that. In fact, when talking with Erik today about replacing my PixelSkin from Apple (the crappy version), I was told that the PixelSkin HD in black was out of stock and wouldn't be back in for a while. He told me to just pick from any case listed on their site that had the "add to cart" option (meaning they are in stock). That's when I took the blue PixelSkin HD instead. But he was going to let me pick anything, including CandyShells (I specifically asked about them, but I already have 3!).

I wonder how long the pixel skin HD in black is going to be out of stock. Janelle said 1-3 weeks but I'm sure it's purely speculation.

I'm sure she's tired of me emailing her every 3 weeks... lol - wondering if I should give it a try and ask for another case instead of black.

So how does the whole replacement thing work? I mean if you got a bad pixelskin hd from apple for free, how do you get it replaced? Do you have to send speck the bad one or give them your apple order number? Thanks.

Email speck describing the problem

They'll likely ask you for a couple of things (proof you bought/own the case- a copy of your email from apple is fine here; probably the product code from the inside of the case, and some proof of the problem- in my case I took a video of the lock button being difficult to press and attached it to my reply).

Provide those, and your address, and they'll ship you a new one.

No need to return the old one.

Thanks. Will they ship the new one in retail packaging or no?

Co-worker just got his from Apple. His buttons are much easier to press than mine. Clearly Apple got different stock, and some of us simply got screwed.

My pixel skin HD is LAPHD22(1) and it works flawlessly ... all he button are very easy to push. I got my last week from the free Apple case program.

Was there just a bad batch from that #?

Hmmm Does your Case look exactly like this case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzpQ9n1Jk9E

Cause it looks like the defective case he has (which i actually like the design of better then the other models) but I find the buttons are i dunno... 3 - 5x harder to press then the iPhone itself. But my case appears to be as hard as his defective case and not like the other one which he can bend very easily.

It is pretty hard for me to get the case off of my phone. Maybe I should take some pictures... but it does have the defective styled buttons on it shown earlier on this thread, and not Revision 1's styled buttons.

Wow, that skin is so unbelievable ugly. It amazes me that people buy a designer phone (and thats usually at least one reason to buy from apple, the design) and put an ugly, tastless crap thingy on it.
Well the nice phone is safe inside, sure. No scratch will tarnish the beauty. BUT NOBODY SEES IT! If that isn't paradox....

Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to calm down!

I sent all of my info to Janelle at Speck. She said they will be sending out a new one in 2 to 3 weeks. Luckily I have other cases to use in the meantime.

Not everyone buys it to be a trendy little hipster. Some buy it to use and would probably rather not spend $200 if it were ever to drop out of their hands.

It'd be way more than $200 for most of us... (non-upgrade eligible pricing)

Got mine from Apple today its SPPHD31 (1), oval cut out for camera

Excellent quality, buttons easy to press. Wicked love the case. Works great with the stealth guard protector.

Not the new revised version. It no longer sparkles in the sunlight and is made of different material. I was shipped a replacement today from Incipio and it's garbage. Looks like they even sent me one someone used, had wear on the top right corner...
I just got my revised one today. It's slightly smoother feeling but other than that it's the exact same material. I have no qualms about recommending it still.

Although I haven't gotten my revised (current gen) Pixelskin HD, I think the Speck Candyshell is the best iPhone 4 case on the market.

It's hard plastic on the outside and shock-absorbing rubber on the inside, and the buttons work beautifully. My favorite feature is that a (sturdy) rubber lip rises above the screen so that if dropped, the surface would hit the lip instead of the screen (unless the phone fell on a small or pointed object). I think the PS HD has something like this, but it's made of the same hard material; I don't think it would absorb the shock as well.

This case isn't part of the free case program, but until I get a revised PS HD for testing, I think this will be my go-to case... Does anyone else have the Candyshell but prefer the pixelskin HD?

I have a black Candyshell (oval cutout on the back) and I prefer the Pixelskin HD because it's thinner and it doesn't show scratches like the Candyshell. They need to change the outside of the Candyshell so that it ages better. I used mine for about a week or so and it got all sorts of scratches on it. I understand that a case is made to protect your phone but does the case really have to look like crap after such a short period of time?

Agreed. I also think the CandyShell is the best overall case for those wanting to balance style and protection, but the glossy back stinks! I've been having email discussions with Speck about them designing one with a matte/soft-touch back, as I think it'd be the best possible finish for the case. That way it wouldn't scratch and look like total crap after a week or so of use. They have added this finish to other case lines of their's in the past, so I don't see why they can't do the same with the CandyShell.

I would love it if they could make the outside of the Candyshell similar to the Pixelskin HD. I know the Pixelskin HD is TPU and the Candyshell is hard plastic on the outside but I can already tell that the Pixelskin HD will age very well.

Just got my Pixelskin HD from Apple's free case program. This one is black and has the oval camera cutout. So far I like my NGP smoke from Walmart better.

I received my case yesterday and it fits great! Buttons are easy to press, soft material, oval cutout for camera....product number is SPPHD31(1)

Not sure if it's any different than the other HD cases, but it says designed in California, made in china

I'd recommend it for sure. :D
