How did you get 3 and a random Bumper?

bumper-refund from apple because i bought the bumper before the free case thing
1st pixel skin- through free case program
2nd- since the 1st pixel skin i got was defective, i emailed them and they replaced it
3rd- sent to me in the mail by speck since they apparently sent them out to everyone

Got my replacement from Speck today..it's actually shocking how much better it feels than that crap revision I had..
Soft..buttons are absolutely beautiful to press and the case has a lot nice feel to it..
They sent my case out on Monday 20th and it got delivered to me (in the UK), today Friday 24th..
So thank you Speck!..

After several weeks waiting I got my Speck PixelSkin HD from Apple's case program. I've been using switcheasy's colors case for the meanwhile (great case, by the way, awesome protection).

Anyways I saw this thread and I'm glad I did, because when I looked at the case, put it on and used it for a bit, the buttons were a real pain. Can I even call them buttons? They're not even half a millimtere raised off the case.

Anyways, my case has really flat buttons but has an oval shaped cutout, so does this mean I have the defect version 2? I emailed Speck telling them of the problem and am awaiting a reply, hoping they send a third revision. Seems like a damn good case but the buttons kill it.

For what its worth, any Australians contacted Speck and received a replacement?

I did. Took them almost a full month but it got to me fine through fedex. Their response for emails have always been speedy though. Awesome customer service.

I got my replacement Pixelskin HD yesterday (along with the ShieldViews) and it's the one with the oval cutout and the buttons that are easy to press; however, I notice that if I press on the case along the sides or the top of the phone, I feel and hear clicking. It's as if the case is a little loose or something and the clicking is because the fit is not snug enough. Are you guys experiencing that as well? I should also mention that I only have a front screen protector (PS AG) so I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse.

I get that as well. I think it is the material of the case rather then a defect.

You don't think it's because the case is a little loose or something? I don't see how the material is the cause unless you mean because the material is a little flimsy.

I've seen reviews of the case with the reviewer mentioning about it. The material isn't plastic after all. I assume it is suppose to be flexible. I got PS screen protectors for both my back and front on.

Well I don't know what the cause is but it's annoying as hell. My Incipio NGP from Walmart doesn't have this issue at all and it's supposed to be the same material (TPU). The NGP is ever so slightly bulkier, so I prefer the Pixelskin HD but not with this issue.

My case arrived from the free case program.

Is there any way to determine whether is a "good" one or a "bad" one without putting it on???

Yes. The newest, best case has a slight outline around the buttons. See the pictures a few posts up.
Ahhh, okay ... thx -- missed it by a page.

Mine is definitely the latest revision -- has lower relief "pixels" on back & smaller speaker holes.

So the case program is shipping fully revised cases in first ship.

Didn't want to remove my "carbon" luckylabs back to install a bad case.

I just noticed another difference between Rev. 1 (keyhole flash) and latest Revision 3. The Speck logo on the back is raised quite considerably more on the back. Not entirely sure why, but I definitely feel it on the back more, and comparing to my Rev. 1, it's obvious they modified it to be thicker on the back.

Hah. OCD! :D

I got my 3rd(!) PixelSkin HD, and it's finally "just right." The first one, via the free case program, was hard and inflexible (that's what she said). I requested a replacement, but was told that the black case were backordered, so I could get any other case in stock. I asked for a blue Pixelskin. Got it a few weeks later...but it's the same build quality as the first bad case. Then a few days later, I got another black case with screen protectors. This must be the true "warranty replacement." This is the revised case, and it's perfect. I applied the supplied screen protector, as the bad cases bubbled up my Best Skin ever, but I'm not a fan of the matte finish. I ordered a few more BSE's today. Once I get those in, and assuming they don't bubble up under the "fixed" Pixelskin, my setup will be complete.

Very impressed with Speck's customer service. Will buy a pink Pixelskin for my wife, who's a lot rougher with her phone than I am...but only when I can find one in-store. Anyone know where they're carried?

Got mine today, took about 10 days from when I ordered it. It is SPPHD52(1)

I just put it on, but I am happy with the way it works right now, buttoms seem easy to press.

I received my replacement today. Inside is stamped SPPHD52(1).

It's a softer material, almost silcone-esque, but doesn't stick to your pocket like silicone. All buttons are easy to press w/ good feedback; i.e., you have a sense you are actually pressing the button. I also like that the back is a touch more matte and the "pixels" are not as raised than the harder plastic version. Another plus is that the mold lines on the new version are practically non-existent.

However the softer material doesn't seem as protective as the harder plastic version. The sides have more give and the area surrounding the upper portion of the speaker is extremely flimsy. To me the harder version feels better too. Yes, it's a PITA to remove but I don't remove my case too often.
More like hardly ever. And the iLuv and Speck screen protectors I use work fine w/ the harder case -- no bubbling or peeling.

I previously modified my "defective" hard plastic case by removing the lower volume button. This gave the top vol. button some flex so that I can easily press both volume buttons. The top sleep button has no response but does work. So weighing all the + and -'s I've decided to keep using the hard plastic case.

I think Speck did a fantastic job replacing these and they have really earned my respect and loyalty. I wish all companies were this responsive to their errors.

Got the revised one, with screen guards. Awesome cust service. That being said after a few weeks with the harder case I have gotten the hard to press home button to press easily although with no tactile response. I like the hard one alot better than the revised one at this point. The revise one is too soft and sticky, and the bottom lip sags like my grandmas titties.
Amen.

Glad I didn't bother to get the revised one. I emailed them a couple weeks ago about it, and then I changed my mind. I really like the one I got now and didn't want to bother taking it off after thoroughly cleaning my phone before I installed it about a month ago.

Personally for me, pressing the top button was the only thing that bothered me at first. And even now, it isn't as stiff like when I first got it. After a few weeks, it has loosened up or perhaps I just got used to it. It is pretty easy to lock the screen, but there is a bit more pressure when I turn it off which I sometimes rarely do. Like when I first got my iPhone 4, it felt a bit stiff pressing the home button. After three months, it is not as stiff as it used to. Just exercise the fingers a bit. It is not that hard after awhile.

The biggest reason why I didn't get revised V2 was because I felt Speck would go back to the flimsy sides and bottom like the original.
I would rather prevent dust getting into the case and would compromise if I needed to have a stiff button on the top. That is the trade-off. Plus, nomore going through the PITA process of taking off V1. When I clean it, I just use both a fuzzy microfiber towel for most of the glass and a smooth microfiber one for the hard to reach sides and for the Speck case itself. I like V1 because it is easier to clean, is not a dust magnet, and just feels SOLID and PROTECTIVE in my hand.

Glad I went with my first instinct, but to each their own here.

One thing that's a shame about the best version is that the flash ring actually seems to be harder plastic. If they had used a ring of this harder plastic around the dock it would have prevented the looseness and potential sag and made it the perfect case.

I do like it though, when/if it sags i will go for the SGP Neo Matte.

I received mine yesterday. Looks like I received the latest one as I have no issues with it at all. Paid $17 shipped via eBay and I'm satisfied with it.

I bought mine from Speck earlier this week, had the exact same feeling, I actually went back to my Incipio NGP, which is a way better fit. Thinking of e-mailing Speck about this, but if everyone is getting it, I guess there won't be another revision out to address this?

The material also feels very very soft.... hmm..

Hi,

I ordered my iphone4 on September 13th, and I wont get it until October 11th. Am I still eligible for the free case program from apple?

I'm pretty sure you aren't. You have to order it via the Free Case app, so you won't be able to register until 10/11. I heard that after 9/30, they will still be giving away free bumper cases. According to the guys on MacBreak Weekly, only the third party cases will no longer be available.
