I agree the above person, but that's only if you call apple and request it.
How did some of you get candyshells instead of a replacement pixelskin?? I'd rather have that being the pixelskin case lifts my screen protector??

I got two candy shells instead of pixel skins, just ask nice! :D

Dont think so.
But on the apple-site it says:

"If you purchased an iPhone 4 before September 30, 2010, follow these steps to receive an iPhone 4 Bumper or a select third-party case from Apple at no charge."

It doesn't say that I have to register before the 30th, but purchased... this is confusing.

Wow, that skin is so unbelievable ugly. It amazes me that people buy a designer phone (and thats usually at least one reason to buy from apple, the design) and put an ugly, tastless crap thingy on it.
Well the nice phone is safe inside, sure. No scratch will tarnish the beauty. BUT NOBODY SEES IT! If that isn't paradox....

Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to calm down!

LMAO

Anyone receive a new case thats in canada from speck? Just wondering if there is any charges for receiving these replacements?

Thanks

They sent me one, and i if i get some sort of charges im gonna be pissed

I contacted them to get my 2nd Revision replaced, they replied asking for some photos and the receipt, I don't have a receipt so I just put a hand written piece of paper in the image with the date and my email address to prove I'm not stealing photos.

I'll keep you posted on what happens, and I don't think they will charge you anything. Everyone else reports that they didn't even have to send back the old case.

born slippy

i just received my speck pixelskin HD today through the free case program and was initially very happy with it as it doesn't fit too tightly over my wrapsol ultra screen, back and sides protector (which adds considerable thickness and it's hard to find a case that is easy to put on and take off without worrying about inadvertently removing/damaging it). that lasted about 2 minutes until it slipped out of my hand. twice. luckily, i was sitting in bed so no damage, but if i had been standing up or had put it on and then gone out immediately afterward, i can only imagine the horror.. i tried looking through the thread to see if anyone else had this problem, but 31 pages is a bit much, even for an infojunkie like myself. i have taken it off as it is constantly threatening to slip out of my hand and i don't want to worry about dropping my $750 phone every time i pick it up.

is anyone else experiencing this problem with the pixelskin HD(i believe it's v2)? if so, does it diminish over time or should i just give up and get a new case?

Yes, I had the same problem. Normally Speck makes great cases but the PixelSkin HD is very slippery, with it's smooth sides.

Because the PixelSkin line is rubber and not silicon, they don't pickup all the pocket lint and debris from the surface you set your phone on. It's a great case.

I went back to the regular PixelSkin (non-HD) because it's just a little thicker, has the textured sides, and is stronger so it grips the phone better and offers enhanced protection.

That thing will never get near my phone!

Me! Finally. I got the original, bad revision in late August. Today Fedex dropped off a "rev. 2" or whatever the one with the good buttons is. No charges, don't worry.

The old was LAPHD11 and new one is SPPHD51 or something like that. The old one was a piece of junk compared to this. Softer, the buttons are very clicky, and it's actually possible to take it out of the case without breaking my fingers. Thanks, Speck!

i actually like the design of the original pixelskin. i've wanted one for a while now (purple.. yum), and if it weren't so bulky i would've bought one already. i think the fact that it is completely sold out pretty much speaks for itself. :p

needless to say, i will be ditching my HD. now i just need to find a case that doesn't mess with my wrapsol. any word on whether the original pixelskin is wrapsol friendly? if it is, i'll be getting one today.

Dang, I am having the hardest time choosing between the Pixelskin HD and the Incase Snap. I have the Incipio NGP already and thinking Pixelskin would be redundant as they both give me good protection. InCase Snap has a good simple look to it but not as much protection, but I have the NGP for that.

Go with the Snap. Like you said, it won't give you much protection but it looks nice and minimal and it's very different from the NGP. I have the Pixelskin HD, the NGP and the Snap and I would stick with the Pixelskin HD if it wasn't for the damn clicking (see my earlier posts in this thread). I don't know if the case is loose, flimsy or both but it's ruining an otherwise excellent case for me. I like the NGP as well but the Pixelskin HD just feels so much smaller in my hand even though they are almost identical in size when you compare them. I think the NGP is heavier too.

I like the Snap but it just doesn't provide enough protection and the volume buttons are almost flush with the case.

Does anyone know of any other really slim TPU cases like the Pixelskin HD? I'd love to find one that's just as thin but not as flimsy.

if anyone in the UK wants one for £10 posted, drop me a pm. ebay is being very strange this morning and i can't seem to list it

try Belkin.. the Shield Eclipse, which has a main body of opaque, coloured TPU with hard, clear plastic on the back of the case's upper half, is much sturdier than the pixelskin HD, is almost the exact same size(albeit with slightly rounder edges) and has a nice, snug fit. there are other models which are without the hard plastic section, available in either full opaque or transluscent TPU.

otherwise there is the Barely There by Case Mate, along with several other models which fit the bill.

one of my favourite manufacturers so far is SwitchEasy(try the Nude) as they provide covers for both charging port and 3.5mm earphone jack, which I really like, and two of each, no less. also, their Colors range features coverage of the entire section below the screen, including the home button, which is something almost all other standard cases lack.

finally, there are many copycat versions of the pixelskin available which are, according to some reports, better than the original, not to mention cheaper. so, if you really do like the pixelskin HD design, I would go for one of those.

Thank you for that! Which specific Belkin case is similar to the Shield Eclipse but without the clear plastic?

The Barely There is very similar to the Incipio Feather and the Incase Snap. I already have a Snap too. Also, I'm not a fan of the SwitchEasy Nude (had one for my 3gs and returned it).

the Belkin Grip Vue is the alternative to the Shield Eclipse in translucent TPU. I was mistaken, however, as there is no completely opaque, TPU-only version, though there are various combinations of TPU & other materials, such as the Shield Fusion which combines a TPU body with thin horizontal stripes of silicone across the lower half of the case for more grip.

there is also the Shield Micra, a hard case similar in style to the the Grip Vue, only in a hard, transparent plastic and which is touted to be "ultra-thin". though it is supposed to be a hard case, I read here that it is slightly flexible, which I like.

another noteworthy case from Belkin is the Grip Edge which has a padded leather panel on the back of a TPU body which i think looks really nice, though perhaps a tad bulky for some.

I believe the entire Belkin range is available at amazon. I hope this helped. I'd like to add that although I don't particularly favour Belkin's cases over those of other manufacturers, I do find that, overall, Belkin products are of excellent quality and design and you generally can't go too wrong when buying from them. plus, I love the deep purple they've been using a lot lately. :)

what screen protector is everyone using with the pixelskin HD? their screenview protectors are matte, and a bitch to apply without bubbles. i went through my whole pack of 3 (came for free with the case) and still can't get a clean install. and my best skin ever bubbled up.

so what screen protector is everyone rockin?

Maybe you guys can make a new thread to discuss other case options instead of hijacking this one.

Well given all of the discussion in here about the problems with the Pixelskin HD, I think a discussion of alternatives is actually pretty helpful and relevant. The title of the thread implies that the HD is the best case out there. If people want to state their opinion of why case "x" is better, this is a great place to do it. How much more can we possibly discuss the HD anyway:D?

received the ngp smoke just today, i think i like the pixelskin hd better. i like the material and the fit more, not to mention it's a bit less bulky.

Yah just emailed again said free of charge.

It is coming with fedex and they tend to like to add their brokerage fees on stuff. if that happens im not even taking this item they can take it back
