I have an NGP also and I like it but I like the Pixelskin HD better because it's a little less bulky. It definitely clicks when I squeeze it though, almost like the case is too loose and I have to squeeze it so that it locks into place.

None of you guys with the "old" version of the HD feel or hear clicking when you squeeze the sides of your phone? Try squeezing up and down either side of your phone and tell me if you notice that.

I've been noticing that too. It's not really too big of a deal for me, though.

Guys. It's not a cheaper one. Stop being so bitchy. All they did was make the camera hole bigger so it didn't interfere with flash and made the actual case a little more tough. It's not that big of deal. Calm down.

Your completely missing the point.

First off, its unsporting. I would go as far as saying its dishonest. It's very different and should have at least been called the 'HD: MK II' or 'HD: Free version'. It's obvious Speck were using this opportunity to reduce production costs and make a bit more profit from this.

Secondly, it may be "free" but it was part of the Apple case programme. We only had one shot at a free case. But i will now have to go and buy one because i never wanted a hard plastic case. Also, the fact that it's hard to use the sleep button, which i use all the time, will be a problem and i based my selection on a youtube review that actually commented on the easy of button access and use.

I will be complaining to Apple too.

Oh, and i am perfectly calm. But i am cross and annoyed.

Just received mine, I am not able to apply it because I am pretty sure at at least one button will break off, I think I won't be using it...

Got mine today and not impressed. But I should clarify:

it has no wiggle when the phone is in the case unlike my Geometric which wiggles a bit sometimes. Even so, I prefer the older material that my Geometric is made out of. The new cam cutout is a welcome change although I don't remember having issues with my Geometric and flash at all.

The case is really hard to get off. The side buttons are alright but the top button has like no give whatsoever. i tried wedging a piece of paper between the button on the case and the lock button on the phone but it did not help.

For modders, I would say maybe slicing that home button out would fix all your problems unless you take your case off and on alot, in which case it's a bit of a pain. I much prefer my older style Geometric.

Just got mine. It's unacceptable. Impossible to take off once on. I'm afraid I'm going to scratch the phone doing so. The on/sleep/wake button has no give at all. The case is a hard plastic, and is nothing like the TPU I expected.

Going to contact Speck and see what they say.

Well, that's Speck added to my list of companies I won't bother with again. That is unless they do what incipio do and relace our cases with decent quality ones. Incipio handled the Feather problems very well, much respect from me.

Personally I think the Feather is one of the best cases now since it's been revised. Just a shame the front is left so vulnerable. I waited 6 weeks for the HD, and we ended up with a cheap piece of crap. The search continues then chaps…

Actually...a better fix, instead of slicing out the home button, is to take a very sharp exacto knife and cut the long sides of the sleep/awake button (on the case, not the phone of course!), making a slit along the entire length of the long sides of the button. Leave only the material at the curved ends of the button uncut. When this is done, if done with a sharp blade, it's unnoticeable. But what it does is disconnect most of that hard material from the case itself, making the button VERY responsive and restores its tactile feedback. Very quick and easy mod to make the button usable, and it's undetectable (as far as modifying the case goes). I used this on my Marware SportGrip Edge, and it makes the buttons work wonderfully. You can do it on the volume buttons also, but those are a lot smaller and need a very steady hand.

Great idea, I think I'll try this first instead of cutting off the whole button.

I really like the case, the volume buttons are alright, and I like that it's harder as it fits the phone perfectly and the sides are very firm so dust can't get in. It's not that difficult to take on/off, and I always leave it on anyways.

My only problem is the on/off/sleep button. Mine's not that hard to press, but there's zero feedback, which is annoying.

I agree! I'm going to try out this idea and see how it goes.

Let me know how that goes. If successful, I'll try it out. Don't have much to lose either way :)

It works perfectly! I just did it :) and you can't even tell it's cut :) This mod just made this case my dream case haha. If only they shipped free purple ones XD

Thank you chris975d for the tip!

Already done mine. Works great. It'll actually work on any soft case with a hard button. I did it to my Scosche bumper too.

Just did it. Works quite well actually.

Still not as responsive as my geometric, but not a problem anymore.

the volume buttons are actually quite stiff.

did you cut out the volume buttons too?

Also which do you prefer? New or old pixelskin hd (after mods)?

And pixelskin hd or geometric? Just curious, sorry for question overload.

Yeah, I did the volume buttons too.

I still prefer the old pixelskin, even after the mods to this one. This one is just too damn hard and I hate the feel of the material compared to the old HD and Geometric. It just feels cheap like a knock-off case.

Geometric is still my favorite out of the two. I just like the back design. It looks a little unconventional, but it sits surprisingly well in the hand. But...that being said, my favorite case at the moment, and might remain so for a while is the Otterbox Commuter. It's not too thick (like the Defender), covers all the buttons, great dual layer design for protection, and has all the ports covered. I love port covers. I have standalone black headphone jack and dock connector plugs that I use even when not using an Otterbox case, but I don't have to worry about losing them/keeping up with them when they are integrated into the case.

Just got my Pixelskin HD. Mark me off as another with a case that has to nearly sprain a tendon in my finger to lock my phone.

Yeah i just cut the volume buttons too and I accidently slipped with the knife, leaving a bit of a gash between the two volume buttons. decided to do it on the other part too, it helps loosen them up.

This case is at least functional now. But I think I prefer geometric too.

I like the feel of the older material as well, but this one (only real positive of new material) seems more snug on the phone.

I had the defender, thought it was too big. intrigued by the commuter but no stores around here (namely best buy) carry it so i didn't want to order it online and then get buyer's remorse, unable to return it if i need to.

That's why I said you need a really steady hand and a very sharp knife to attempt this mod on the volume buttons. When doing it, I put a fingertip on the back side of where I'm cutting at, so that I can feel the tip of the blade come through the material (have to be very careful not to cut your finger doing this!). With that finger tip I can guide the blade a lot better while making the cuts.

I just got my case!. My sleep button is hard to press but I love this case anyway!! I just put my otterbox back in the box and gonna get my money back from bestbuy. My PS screen protector did not bubble at all!!!! I love it!! :D:D:D:D:D

I legitimately hate the new PS HD. back to the geometric for me.

Plus I think it caused a nice little hairline scratch right below the camera area.

Luckily, I keep my phone cased so I'm not staring at the back with OCD eyes and it probably won't be the last one.

I just received my HD case. This is my first and only case for the Iphone4 and I can say that I'm pretty happy about it. I didn't expect it to be so difficult to put on but when I did, it stayed on really snug. The material is a lot harder than I thought it would be which has its pro's and cons. I currently have the Zagg IS on the front and back and I'm sad to say that I had a really hard time with it bubbling where the camera cut out is. I didn't think that it would, being that I've had it on there for over a month and a half!

The Sleep button is the same as everyone has been explaining it. Very hard with little sensitivity. I'm going to mod it with the incisions on the sides of the button. The volume buttons are ok but I just might mod them too.

Overall, I'm happy. I've been waiting a while for this thing so I'm not ready to throw it to the side and look for something else. It serves its purpose really well and its free, damn it!

Just did the mod to the sleep and volume buttons and it made a hell of a difference.

THANKS!

Have you posted pics of the commuter anywhere in this forum?
