IMPORTANT for anyone who bought iPhone 7 last year and got the 650 promo credit /24 months

You can still buy the new iPhone8 or x. You just have to butt it full price. The device payment agreement stays active on the account and you continue to get the credits.

Really? How will that work, since you'll be putting the SIM into the new phone and the 8 is going to be active. if this is true, I'll probably cancel my order and buy it outright instead.

ETA: Thanks for telling me this, I'm on the phone with VZW and cancelled my order. I opted for the early upgrade option and so glad I cancelled in time because I would've wasted the credits on it and had to trade in the phone. Unfortunately though, the only way to go around this is to buy a SIM-Free version of the phone from Apple.

So if I buy the iPhone X and pay for it in full, would I be able to activate it with my current phone number? So I will continue making the last 12 month of my device payment towards my 7 plus and continue getting the rest of the 650 promo credit? Do I have to keep the 7plus until next September, or can I sell the device and continue paying until next September? Thanks!

Yes, that will work. You can sell the device or keep it, as long as you make the payments.

Thanks for the info! After numerous calls and going through so many different reps at Verizon, I finally found one who was knowledgeable and was able to place the order for me to be able to just buy the phone outright and not touch my agreement for the trade in credit at all. So although I won't be getting the phone on launch like normal, I'll be getting it on the 29th, but it'll be OK since I'll still get to keep my credit for the 7. that's a tough one to give up so I didn't mind waiting an extra week.

For those who want to try this offer, call Verizon and if you don't get the right person, keep trying! I've had so many reps tell me that they can't do it that way and that my only options were trade in my current phone and go to device payments, or to pay off the remaining balance and do it that way. The rep that helped me order it outright told me some of the reps have limited access to what they can do, but she had access to be able to just order the phone outright and not touch any plans or contracts or anything.

Could someone help me out here..

I had all intentions of buying a sim-free iPhone 8+ during the pre-order.

That is what I entered (I am positive of it) during the Apple Store App's pre-approval process.

The picture below is the confirmation I received following my order.

1. Did I not get an unlocked, sim-free phone?

2. Is that even possible with VZW? OR am i trying to do something that isn't even allowed.

3. I bought my phone through Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program - for what reason would I have to pay VZW a $30 upgrade fee? My intent was for my contract to not be touched as all of my phones have fallen out of contract and I believe my bill is as cheap as it'll ever get.

Thanks in advance.

The $30 is just a one time upgrade/activation fee. It has nothing to do with your contract

no you didn't get the Verizon version of the phone But if you did the iUP program you shouldn't be charged the upgrade fee. (I asked three reps if I would and they said no since it's like bringing your own phone over.) and you did in fact get an unlocked version of the phone but it will come with a verizon sim preloaded with your information.

But there is no difference between the "Verizon version" and the "unlocked version" of the phone is there? Verizon phones are already unlocked and both versions have CDMA radios.

Both are unlocked by "Verizon Version" I mean the version that's carrier financed through Verizon instead of through Apple, but there's no difference between the phones.

I heard that the demand for the iPhone X won't be met until mid 2018. So glad I decided to go with the 8. Can't wait

I've been checking my cc app every hour waiting for the charge to come up ordered at 3:05am est(on pre order launch). Lol
