PULLING SIMS will work but be warned. Verizon has the device ID tied to the line you upgrade. So last year when my wife's line was upgrade ready I used that upgrade and when the phone came, pulled the sim out of the new phone, put mine in and then put her SIM in my old phone. It Worked fine except.... this year when I went to upgrade even though 50% had been paid off on the 7plus I couldn't upgrade the line because the "device ID does not match the phone number of the device" I had to call verizon and it took them an hour to get the device ID to match correctly so then I could upgrade.

For anyone in my situation, upgrade on different line, the easiest way to get it on the right phone is as follows: activate new phone on the line it’s assigned to. After that, go to Verizon and choose “Switch devices”, and that should be it. We’ll see how it goes on Friday.

So this is a new phone on verizon and you are going from ATT to verizon? If that's the case what are you transferring a sim for? The phone coming from verizon should have a sim in it and then you just call and activate it. If you want to keep your ATT number and bring it to verizon you will have to call verizon and have them port your number to give you your ATT number and discard the one verizon assigns you.
I ordered directly from Apple. Sim free. Paid in full. I just am unsure if I need to create a account with Verizon if I am transferring my phone number from AT&T.

I am supposed to get the 8 plus by 22nd but my order is still in processing mode.... I don’t think they will make their commitment to me. I guess I will go to the store and pick it up on Friday and cancel the preorder.

Wonder if this will confuse anyone at FedEx and the phones will show up tomorrow...o_O

They still have time to ship it today or tomorrow.

I think what that means is that it will actually ship on the 21st, but arrive on the 22nd. I got confused too, but that’s how it makes sense to me.

Makes sense to me as well. Just wishful thinking haha.

Mine is also processing still. I talked to a rep today and they said it should be coming Friday so I guess we will see.

So what's the general consensus here on buying your phone upfront vs paying it off monthly? I'm debating which one to do! I do like to get iPhones every year...

Not understanding the dilemma. It's a 0% interest loan which allows you to pay off the device over 24 months vs. paying it all upfront.

There's absolutely no drawback to going with device payments. You can pay it off in full anytime you want - next month, next year, etc.

Mine started in PA as well and now it’s in NJ. It’ll likely stay there until Thursday night and then fly to Memphis and then make its way to the Midwest lol
same here! mine is sitting in Elizabeth, NJ which is about an hour from me...wish I could just drive there and grab it lol

I honestly couldn't afford to buy it outright so I'm doing monthly. I miss being able to plan on spending $200-$300 for the phone up front and then not having to think about payments (I know they were added one way or another). However I recently had dental work I'm still paying off and work for a non-profit so money is a bit of an issue.

I guess the negative part is that you truly don't own the phone if it's not paid off, at least that's how I see it. However, if you ugrade every year, then it makes perfect sense. I just purchased an 8+ through Verizon on the device payment program because I'll be ugrading yearly.

Also the upgrade after you make half the payments is a plus for me. At least that’s I look at it.

My first year preordering, my phone started in PA, went to NJ, then Memphis before coming my way. The last 2 years it started in Memphis and just stayed there all week until time to move lol. It'd be nice if you could just drive the hour to pick up your phone hahaha

Yup unless you are locked into the 24 month $650 credit promo like a few of my lines are. If it weren't for that I would upgrade those as well

my phones not supposed to come until the 29th, the world is supposed to end on 23rd. Looks like im going to hell with my note 5. Ill be stuck with a phablet forever.:(
Maybe it’ll spontaneously combust in the next few days and give you a preview of what you’re in for :D

I was worried about mine too. I didn’t think I’d get it on Friday but my credit card was just charged and I got a text saying they would send my tracking info once they have it.

Just received a text message from Verizon saying they received my order. Ordered placed on the 15th, delivery date of 29
Exact same situation here, for an iPhone 8 Plus 256 GB Space Gray. I'm pleasantly surprised, because I placed my order late in the day (9:19 PM EDT) on the 15th.
